Another night with not enough sleep, courtesy of my snoring husband. I woke up and never got back to sleep. No, he doesn’t have sleep apnea. He has sinus problems (maybe even allergies;) it happens when his nose is too dry or too stuffed up. I’m not a happy camper this morning. He’s just gone to the drug store (is that considered an old-fashioned name for it nowadays?) to get some of those strips.
We’ll see.
I do have things to do today and I’m going to do my best to tackle them. It helps if I stay busy, but right now I feel incapable of moving. Although I did move to run outside and take a picture, so that’s hopeful.
It’s a gorgeous day out there, abundant sunshine and green, green, green everywhere.
Don finally planted his little experimental vegetable garden yesterday. It’s been delayed due to hand surgery and recovery and weather. He is basically doing it for fun, so he has no real stake in the outcome. Maybe we’ll get some fresh vegetables out of it!
One of our bunnies, the one who hangs out near the shed and the funky patio, seems to be drawn to our porch. I’ve now seen him/her on the porch twice. That’s never happened before! He hops on on the porch and sort of hangs out near the bench just to the left of the entrance – he’s curious. I find this so adorable. Hopefully, the next time I see this, I will have a camera with me.
We told him he is welcome to hang out on the porch.
Weed whacking today, as well as some bathroom cleaning. I have a business related phone call in the morning, and maybe I’ll attempt to start a new puzzle.
Stay safe.
Happy Saturday.

I sympathize with you about the snoring. My husband still can’t sleep on his preferred side, because of his hip surgery…so he snores. But, I guess I’m getting used to it, because it no longer wakes me up. It’s just hard falling asleep. Hope the snore strips work.
I have a long list of chores these days…7 weeks from today, my son gets married in our backyard. So naturally, I need the garden beds, and lawn to be in tip top condition, so it’s more work on us. But, I’m so tickled he wants to get married here…it warms my heart.
How fun to have a bunny visit your porch. Does he munch on your plants or are they all raised?
Enjoy your day! ;)

hej, donnamae. :)
work to do, but for a beautiful reason! early congratulations to the happy couple and to you and your family. how special that they want to get married in your backyard!
remember to take breaks, take it easy. everything will get done and it will be wonderful!

Oh how lovely, Donnamae. Your garden must be beautiful. So nice that your son wants to get married there.
I have no idea whether the bunny munches on my plants, but we have so much grass and interesting wild plants around here that they usually are fine with that.
Stay safe.

i hope snore strips (for don) and staying busy (for you) will help you sleep better!
good luck with the chores and the phone call. same to don on the garden. i hope you get vegetables to enjoy after all that work … but the best parts are following one’s interests and especially that don has regained use of his hand!
a bunny visitor on the porch sounds very sweet. nice of you to give a welcome and that welcoming place.
and today’s photo shows another lovely place for you and don to sit. glad you have choices and, yes, all the green!
i try to get all my chores done in the morning, except for grocery shopping (late afternoon or early evening). it seems i always have a long to-do list … probably because i am project-oriented and for moving a bit slower due to my back. that’s okay (has to be … can’t change it). a current project is trying to re-do a lampshade with fabric more to my liking than the slick paper-like fabric that came with this new lampshade (had to replace a damaged one).
this is something i’ve never done before. has anyone here tried it? tips welcomed, please. thanks.
we are already getting unseasonably hot weather here and several days next week it’s to reach 90 … bleh. another reason i like to do tasks in the morning.
hope you, don and everyone else have a fun, easy day today.

Claudia says
I’ve covered a lampshade before but I did it badly, so I have no suggestions.
Stay safe, Kathy.

Well it is good to know that Don has had a sleep study and it has ruled out Apnea. Sleep Apnea is nothing to mess around with. Will Don be taking pictures this summer at the farmer’s market ?We took our weekly Sat am visit to the French Bakery and the tourists are here,, but as my husband said they help with our taxes.
Claudia says
I don’t know yet about the pictures. I don’t think he’s decided.
Stay safe, Linda.

My husband and I don’t like sleeping apart, however, if he’s snoring enough to wake we up I’ll nudge him and he’ll go in another room. He can sleep anywhere and fall asleep in 2 seconds so he doesn’t mind, plus he knows I’m sh*t the next day with no sleep! Hope you guys can work it out what’s best for you! Take care, Jen
Claudia says
Don sometimes goes downstairs to the sofa. Or I do. But last night it wouldn’t have worked as I just couldn’t get back to sleep.
Stay safe, Jen.

dear Claudia/Don — sorry for the lack of sleep — my Mr was the Worst until a sleep study found sleep apnea so w/CAP machine, his/my sleep improved 1000% — original test was years ago but he is rechecked each year. maybe those strips will help him/you rest better — no or little sleep IS not fun !!!! pix of garden w/flowers is very pretty — what are the blooms?? sure hope you all get in sync w/sleep, stay healthy, safe
Claudia says
They’re wildflowers, Linda.
Stay safe!

Lucky you with your bunny! I love them to the max!
Yesterday was a wasted day for me so today hustling for company arriving tomorrow. Tomorrow is a full day — cemetery planting, wrapping birthday things if I don’t finish today, possibly a trip to the nursery if I dare (or Home Depot — last resort but easier). So changing beds, house tidying and if I get up the energy, pricing things for the yard sale. Odd that the thing that SHOULD take the LEAST amount of energy feels as though it takes the most. I just hate pricing things.
Claudia says
When is the yard sale, Jeanie? Today?
Stay safe.
jeanie says
Not till the 16th — but there’s so much to do — and the house is looking worse and worse!
Claudia says
Good luck, Jeanie!

I often wonder why men are able to sleep more soundly than women. My husband can fall asleep at the drop of a hat. Me, not so much. But we carry on. Hopefully tonight you’ll sleep better, Claudia. Hugs, Elaine
Claudia says
Same with Don. He goes right to sleep. Sigh.
Stay safe, Elaine.

We always have a vegetable garden; used to have very-large ones, not so much lately; and some years aren’t great, not as good yields, I never know why; but, just Saturday, my husband, planting pretty late in the year for us already, put in two varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers and zucchini. I prefer doing things in raised beds but all of our structures have collapsed now with old wood and weather (easier on the back when tending and picking/harvesting). It helps on the produce budget, less to buy at the grocery store, good to have fresh; always good to grow a little of your own food, even in balcony pots; you can stick a tomato plant just about anywhere where there’s some sun. In past years of drought, we’ve just had to keep the garden small due to water restriction in Southern Calif. And now, this past April-May, we’ve hardly seen the sun to grow anything; too much coastal overcast; my roses this year have been the worst ever; so droopy and not blooming, poor things yearning for sunshine. Hope you get some good summer veggies from Don’s efforts!
Claudia says
We’ll see. We don’t have raised beds and I’m not about to build one or buy one unless Don is really into the whole thing.
Stay safe, Vicki!
