Saturday Stuff

February 18, 2023 at 9:04 am by Claudia

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your lovely messages yesterday. It’s been a tough time here lately and, given our phone conversation with Adrian yesterday, will continue to be. Many challenges, some losses, lots of worries. But through it all, this blog remains my rock. It grounds me. And all of you are so wonderful! What a lovely group of friends! Your kind words touched me deeply.

On to year 16!

I started a jigsaw puzzle I had on hand. It’s been hard for me to fill my time lately, even though I’m reading a lot, writing Morning Pages, writing gratitude lists, and doing a wee bit of sketching. I sometimes feel listless. So, after a break, I’m back with my puzzles. THIS one was a bear that I abandoned quickly. I was working on the edges and I couldn’t get them to fit. Something was off. I tried to rectify the situation but it didn’t work. I must have had a puzzle on hand because I took what I pieced together apart and stored it in the closet. This time I’m putting together the center first. I’ve done that before when the edge pieces were challenging. Hopefully, after I find my way back to the edges, it will all become clear.

This morning’s 10 minute doodle:

This is the view I see when I look to my right. I left out the porch post and the overhang of the porch roof. Have to say the cars look like something I would have drawn as a kid but since these doodles are moments in time/memory evokers, that’s fine with me.

We’ve (Don and me) moved onto Part 3 of War and Peace. Today will be Day 49 of the readalong.

If you like to visit Don’s music site on YouTube, you might like this one – Blues in Double Time. You might see someone else you know.

Okay, my friends. See you later.

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday.

cute video, great music/guitar-playing and clever, encouraging lyrics for “blues in double time”. love it! as to you with the sketching, puzzle and “war and peace”, i hope don will keep going with his music, too.

glad you recognize your own accomplishments, like 15 years of mhc! trust the comments felt good and you know that you are appreciated and loved.

we had over six inches of beautiful, much-needed snow fall over twelve hours on thursday. roads were a mess then and much of yesterday so i spent those days and nights with members of my family … wonderful. now the sun is shining in a brilliant blue sky, it’s already above freezing and i have “spring fever”.

    happy, safe saturday to everyone.

Oh, Don will keep going with his music. He’s been playing and composing since he was 12. I think this time without work would have been impossible for him without his music, Kathy.

      The snow sounds lovely.

      Stay safe.

I find it difficult sometimes to fill my time… even with taking care of my 94 year old mother. I do read alot…have tried puzzles, but I just can’t get into them and then it ends up being a problem of space. Anyway, you are doing very well with your sketching… they’ll be fun to look back on. And I’m sure you’ll find the right puzzle/strategy! Enjoy the weekend!

I love your drawings – very inspiring. Hey, I’m going out on a limb here, but I know you’ve talked about the struggle of making ends meet (and so many of us can relate!) Have you and Don ever considered turning your house into a bed and breakfast? I know you’ve talked about how small your upstairs is, but I’ve stayed in some very small b&b’s that were just lovely. Or – and I’m REALLY going out on a limb here – you could put a small addition on with another bathroom. Your house is utterly charming, your property is gorgeous, and you and Don would be the best hosts. (I’m guessing you’re going to say a big fat no to this for lots of reasons, but I had to put it out there :)

Oh, that would not be a good idea. We no longer have an extra bedroom. That’s the office. This house is much smaller than you think it is!

Plus, I’m an introvert. And we don’t even like having a repairman inside the house!

But thank you for thinking of us and trying to help, Jenny. It’s very kind of you.

      Stay safe.

I would actually feel the same way. Though I’m very social, I’m also an introvert and would not want to be “on” all the time around people in my house, so I completely understand.

Loved the song with both of you. Of course I am one of Don’s Groupies anyway. The sketch is terrific.
Have a good weekend and relax.

I was reading this on a tiny phone screen and thought your drawing was the puzzle. It did seem very challenging.

Watched Don’s music video. Loved your cameo appearance. Then had to watch three more videos of Don playing and singing. He’s very talented. Good luck with your puzzle. We have the Christmas episode of “All Creatures Great and Small” to look forward to tomorrow. I hope there will be a fourth season. It’s such a good show. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Hugs, Elaine

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
