Scarf Madness

November 28, 2015 at 9:17 am by Claudia

11-28 scarf on table

I’ve been non-stop crocheting. I have some orders to fill and also some new scarves to make for the shop.

I might go mad. Don might come home and see a crazy woman babbling “slip stitch, chain 6, turn, slip stitch into loop…” over and over again, perhaps with a cackling laugh added for dramatic effect.

I know I promised you a new scarf today. In fact, I listed the scarf right before I started this post, and it sold before I could write about it on the blog. Sue, you were fast! I may have to reverse the order in which I do this in the future! I’m going to post a photo of it anyway in case any of you are interested in special ordering one in this colorway.

Obsession Scarf in Stained Glass.

I am happy to crochet special orders for you. I just have to order the yarn and list the scarf under Reserved for (fill in the blank.) Up until now, I’ve been waiting to list the scarf until I’ve finished it, but I think, in the future, that I will list it as I order the yarn and then ship when it’s completed. That way, I know what orders have to be filled and you know I’ve reserved one for you. So if you see one you’d like, let me know. Several people have done that already.

Or, you can be surprised when I list one in a new colorway and grab it then.

Fair warning: I won’t be making these indefinitely.

I got my new iPhone the other day! Huzzah! I had been using an iPhone 4, which is several years old. It was getting harder for me to read things on the screen and I use my phone often – especially when I’m on the road. As I was eligible for an upgrade, I upgraded to an iPhone 6. If I’m ready to upgrade, I never get the latest model, I wait until the newest version comes out and then I buy the now-discounted previous version. It’s a great way to save money.

As you can see, there’s quite a difference in the size. (Those are Scout’s paws to the left. What can I say? It’s morning tunnel time.)

Anyway, I love it. The camera is much, much better. I can see the keyboard when I’m texting. I can see  photos on Instagram without squinting. Everything works more quickly and efficiently.

I just need a new case. So in the meantime, I’m being very careful  with it.

When choosing the wallpaper, there was never any question as to who would make the cut.

My girl.

(I’ll post the biscuit recipe tomorrow, as well as the link to the Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms.)

Happy Saturday.

I’ve wanted to open an Etsy shop for a long time Claudia, but I’m just not very computer literate and don’t know how to go about it. Watching the scarves fly out of your shop make me believe that maybe it’s something I really should think about.
My iPhone 4 just stopped working last summer and I ended up getting an iPhone 6. I love the difference. At first I wasn’t sure about the bigger size, if it would be as convenient , But I can read everything so much easier. I have an otter case for mine and although I’ve dropped it several times it seems to be a great case for protecting the phone. Have a lovely day.
    Blessings, Betsy

I think you should, Betsy. If you need help setting it up, I would be happy to assist. I think I’m going to get an Otter – I gave Don an Otter case for his phone.

I would love a video of you crocheting and that cackle laugh…she’s gone mad the say! Glad your scarves are flying off the shelves gives you a little bit extra for Christmas maybe. The color combos are stunning, that yarn is so pretty. It’s sunny here and I’m going over to my Mom’s (no Walmart) and help her put out her few Christmas decorations. When I got my new phone (I’m and Android girl of course) I love the larger screen as I can really see things now and use the keyboard easier. My camera is pretty good also. It’s so nice to have it with me all the time to keep up with my kids at least.
    Happy Saturday.

I love the larger screen, too, Linda. So much easier! My sister and I text each other a lot (she’s used to texting, having two kids in college) and I so enjoy the ease of the larger keyboard.

Oh, that vision of you crocheting madly and cackling as you go…… it had me chuckling!! I had to add the visual of sweet Scout doing a bit of a jig in the background, and some Disney creatures peaking into your windows, with Caroline’s cottage abuzz as well!! Perfect!!
    I needed that!! ?

Disney creatures for sure! Now that you bring it up, I wonder what Caroline’s up to this holiday weekend. I haven’t heard anything from her.

Ugh, I have to start thinking about getting iPhones for the family. I am the proud owner of a dumb phone but I don’t know how long I can sustain it. My college daughter says an iPhone would greatly help her for group projects, as she’s often the odd person out without an iPhone. Thankful for good classmates, as they don’t leave her behind but patiently wait for her dumb phone to keep up.

I imagine an iPhone is essential for a college student. This tech world is growing by leaps and bounds and students have far more ‘tools’ available than when we went to school!

Is that scarf pattern available online somewhere? I’m headed out of town to visit my folks up in western New York next weekend and would be a great airport project.

I think that choosing a color for one of your scarves is the hardest part…you’ve done so many pretty colors…It would be nice to have a phone screen that big…nice for older eyes…I was remembering when cell phones first became popular…they kept making them smaller and smaller until you could carry them in your pocket and barely feel the weight of them…Now it seems that they are going the opposite way and making them bigger…The picture of Scout on yours looks really nice…enjoy!…Also..I would like to see you crocheting and cackling too..lol..

Now, I think, with all the focus on phone cameras, they’re going big again. One company goes big, then another company has to top them. There was a time that I said, “I don’t need a bigger phone” but now I understand what I was missing!

I love when people talk about getting a new phone these days – it’s remarkably similar to the way my Dad sounded when he got a new car. LOL! My niece & nephew both have iPhones and love showing me all the features, how user-friendly it is, how gorgeous the photos are etc. It certainly looks to be the best out there right now, the Rolls-Royce of cell phones. Personally I spend almost no time on the phone, except when I have a problem with my MacBook Pro, so I got myself a “dumb phone” which cost only $25 to buy and then $20 to operate each month. Cancelled my landline – no need. I do have OnStar in my car which I find useful though. I get it at a reduced rate – $13 a month? The OnStar people are delighted to let you know about the reduced rate but not until AFTER you call to cancel your service first. LOL. Love your Scoutie “homepage” too. My experience is that probably about 98% of people who have either kids or pets feature one or both of them as their phones’ homepage – and that’s as it should be! Have a great cozy weekend, crocheting!

We’re toying with the idea of canceling our landline. The only thing stopping us is that we live in an area where we’d like a backup line. So we’re still on the fence about that one.

Scoutie is beautiful and lively in that photo – taken last year – and she’s not so lively now. I hardly ever see that look in her eyes anymore, so I want it on there as a reminder of what’s inside her heart. These are tough times.

Yes, I know what you mean. I’m glad to have the backup of my OnStar phone. Of course if I ever need it, I’ll have to trot myself out to my car to use it – which pretty much guarantees my needing it during a monster snowstorm – LOL. But it works even when the car isn’t running, so that’s good. It’s actually much clearer and more reliable than my cell phone too. If I had voicemail I’d cancel the cell phone and use OnStar alone – LOL! Especially since I’m not at all good about keeping the cell charged. OnStar is like a landline you can drive around with. Only no voicemail – boo.

Hi Claudia. I’m so sorry about your father. I didn’t know. I have been gone for awhile with the sale of our home. We have also moved into a wonderful condo.
Sounds like you are knitting up a storm. I am so glad I have my scarf from you.
    Hugs to you.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
