Scoutie has Dr. Seuss-like feet. Don’t you agree?
I often think Dr. Seuss must have been thinking of Scout when he created some of his characters. Except for the fact that Scout wasn’t born then. But certainly some ancestor was the model?
By the way, trying to get her to stand still to take a picture or two of her feet was next to impossible. That girl is almost 14 and you would never know it.
Anyway, back to the feet:
So darn cute.
I had approximately 3 or 4 hours of sleep. I stayed up late watching election returns. Then the subject of this post woke me at 7 am because she felt I should be up. And now that I’m awake? She’s sacked out, sleeping on the sofa.
What’s wrong with this picture?
Thanks for all the interesting comments and discussion on yesterday’s post. I speak, of course, only for myself and for the decisions I have made about what to discuss and what not to discuss on this blog. That is what feels right for me. Regarding religion on blogs: I was speaking about overly-preachy blogs. And there are many of them out there. But, I do know that if faith is a big part of your life, it cannot help but be part of the fabric of your posts. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s when that fabric turns into a pulpit that I have to walk away.
And as for politics, I won’t write about politics. But I will, and do, write about certain social issues – never, however, wielding a political or partisan stick. Just from the heart.
Okay. That’s that. I am barely coherent at this moment.
Happy Wednesday.
Glenda says
Look at those adorable tootsies!! When our dogs’ are furrier for the cooler months, their paw area starts to get pretty crazy — I tell them they have Hobbit feet ;-). Pretty funny that both of us chose descriptions that relate back to books! Hope you’re able to grab a nap today =).
Claudia says
Me, too, Glenda!
Sue says
I really do see Dr. Suess feet on Scout now that you mention it. I can just see her with antlers tied around her head for Christmas and Don dressed as the Grinch. That would make a cute Christmas picture but I’ll bet your girl would never go for it.
Claudia says
Interestingly, I coached the very first musical production of How the Grinch Stole Christmas at the Old Globe in San Diego. Don was Old Max – dressed in a dog suit! So we are very, very familiar with Whoville and the Grinch.
Connie says
Now that you mention it….lol….should have called Scout Seuss instead, honey. :-) I’m with you on the religion and politics and I’m a very religious person. Some things just turn me off. Gearing up for my day. Not much going on, just reading today since an appointment I had just called and cancelled because the PT person is sick.
Hubs and I went to a movie last night. Argo. Good movie, Too many expletives for us but the movie was good. Hard to find good ones that aren’t geared to kids (animated) anymore. Where have all the good movies gone????
xoxo,
Connie
Claudia says
I know, Connie. I’m not a fan of animated movies. I wasn’t a fan even when I was a kid!
Jen @ Muddy Boot Dreams says
She does have adorable furry little feet, love those tufts….
Boo woke me up in the middle of a dream, and I am so groggy also, thankfully it wears off, oh about hours from now.
Jen
Claudia says
I hope to get a nap in. But now I read that we’re due for 3- 6 inches of snow!
TracyMB says
Oh she DOES have Suessy feet!! Love them. :)
Claudia says
She’s pretty cute.
Tammy says
Baby feet and pet feet are always precious!
Everything you said in your previous post — ditto for me! I couldn’t agree with you more … on everything! Best wishes, Tammy
Claudia says
Thanks, Tammy!
Kris says
Love the dog fee! I I have to clip my Wheatie’s feet or he drags in every piece of grass and leaves and such from the yard on them!
Claudia says
I should probably clip them, but I can’t. They’re too cute!
Laura says
What precious little feet. I too, am incoherent today after four hours of sleep. What happened to the days when I could stay up half the night and be raring to go the next day?
Hugs,
Laura
Claudia says
They are long gone. It is so much harder for me to recover from a late, late night now.
Donnamae says
Well, Claudia, they are cute! I could see writing a post about them on little sleep. Sounds like a mommy nap is in order! I stayed up too late too…my eyes hurt! I just can’t stay up late anymore like I used to either! ;)
Claudia says
My eyes sting.
Linda @ A La Carte says
What cute feet! I love to play with my cats paws when they let me! Hope you get some rest…it was a long night!
hugs, Linda
Claudia says
It sure was, Linda.
Beverly says
Now, those are definitely four footsies to love.♥
Claudia says
I do, Beverly.
Sandy says
Yep! Scout’s feet do look like a character from Dr. Seuss.
Claudia says
Seussical.
Teresa says
Those are perfect Dr. Seuss feet!!! My one cat did the same thing—woke me up early today and is now sleeping on my bed!!! Maybe they are in cahoots!! Go curl up with Scout and take a nap. It is the perfect day for a nap–or so I am told. (by my cats)
Claudia says
Yep. We have a nor’easter coming with 3 – 6 inches of snow, so I think we’ll be homebound for the next 24 hours.
An Enchanted Cottage says
haha – love Scout’s feet! Baby also has the tufted toes with wild fur sticking out between each of her pads! And we’ve always thought our Mr. J has muppet feet – and he does – they are so flat and fluffy! haha Take a nap later. You deserve it :)… Donna
Claudia says
Is snow coming your way, as well, Donna?
Mary @ Ms Redo says
Scout is a beauty, I hope I have as much energy when I’m his age ;) I saw in a comment that you’re expecting snow, I’m not ready for that, hopefully it’ll miss us in Virginia. Hope you’ve got plenty of chocolate to get through the weather. Hugs ~ Mary
Claudia says
It’s starting to snow now, Mary. At this point it is just little flakes flying around on a rather cold, windy day. But we are supposed to get 3 – 6 inches!! (I just had some hot chocolate!) Hugs to you, my friend.
Judy Clark says
What precious little Dr. Seuss feet!! So cute.
Judy
Claudia says
I know!
Linda says
Hi Claudia, we finally got our heat and water back yesterday and now this blizzard is heading in! What are the weather pixies doing to us?? Still no phone or cable so we couldnt stay up watching but I’m having serious blog withdrawal. Thank heavens for Starbucks free Internet. Snuggle up with those cute feet and your honey. I do think Scout has a bit of the look of Max from the grinch! Especially when you catch a photo of her smiling. I’ll be back to catch up on your posts when I get my cable service back. Hmmm, when I typed “cable” my spellcheck on the iPhone changed it to “babble.”
Linda
Claudia says
Gosh, Linda, I’m so happy you got your heat and water back. I hope the storm doesn’t have any downside for you. Stay warm my friend!
Annette Tracy says
I love Scout’s feet. My sweet old Goldie terrier mix is 14 and also blind and deaf now, she has feet just like Scout’s. Also my cat Baby has wild tuffs of fur coming out between her toes, it’s so pretty. I hope you don’t get as much snow as they are forecasting. At least we know your pantry is stocked!
Claudia says
Pantry is stocked (although we’ve eaten a bit of it) – supposedly 3 – 6 inches. We’ll see!
Patti says
Scout does have some pretty cute feet and they do look “Suess like” …my smile for the day. I am tired but I didn’t stay up last night. Woke up at 4am for some reason and then…well…you know, could not go back to sleep. My 3 year old granddaughter is here for a few days so that means not a lot of rest. I thought about you and wondered if you would get snow. Hopefully it will melt right away. ~Hugs, Patti
Claudia says
I did that the other night, Patti – woke up at 4 and that was it. Then last night, I stayed up until the middle of the night watching election returns. Not too much sleep for the past 2 days! I snuck a quick nap in this afternoon and I’m hoping that tonight will be better.
missy george says
SAme thing happens at my house..Mollie gets me up..then sleeps the rest of the morning…
KimberlynCreations says
Love the Dr. Suess feet! Our maltese’s little feet are turned outward and the way she stands she looks like Cindy Loo Who! Sometimes we call her that and sometimes we just start singing the Christmas song- Wahoo, wahoo……..
Brenda Kula-Pruitt says
I’ve been keyed up all day. Doing WAY too much. And now I’m sitting here at dusk with ice on my foot.
Brenda
Karen says
LOL, I think a lot of us are groggy from staying up too late. Love Scout’s feet, they remind me of our Springer’s feet. When she starts looking like a Clydesdale, I know it’s time to have her groomed.
Debra says
LOL my dog Lily’s feet look like that!
Melanie says
Oh, I love Scout’s feet! They actually made me laugh out loud. You’re right – Dr. Seuss-like. ;-) Sorry you didn’t have much sleep last night. I’m quite crabby myself tonight, having had a very busy day and night last night, not getting much sleep last night, having to get up early, then having a tiff with my son…well, maybe both of us will sleep well tonight!
Ann says
Yawn!! Those Suessy feet make me want to curl up next to her. No to snow!!! You guys don’t need it yet! Ann
Teresa Kasner says
I love it that you did a post on your dog’s feet. :-) My dog is asleep on my left thigh and my macbook is on my right one. Gotta love our critters. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Laura Daniel says
All I can say is…that photo of Scout’s feet is one of the cutest doggone photos I have ever seen!!
Here I sit, unable to sleep and just got a BIG SMILE at the end of a very tough day!! Love it!! Thanks for sharing!!
My two boys (both Dachshunds) are sacked out on the sofa…one upside down, the other covered up in his blanket…spoiled little rapscallions! Love them to pieces! I am sure if they were awake, they would agree on how bewooftiful Scout is! :)
Haworth says
Absolutely adorable feet! Isn’t it unfair how dogs and children can just collapse anywhere and decide to take a nap while we have to keep onward and upward? I, too, get very sleep deprived when there’s a national or international event …. hurricanes, elections, conflicts. I can’t possibly sleep knowing something so momentous is happening and I invariably stay up for hours and hours and then am a total zombie for days afterwards.
