Scoutie’s Feet

November 7, 2012 at 9:31 am by Claudia

Scoutie has Dr. Seuss-like feet. Don’t you agree?

I often think Dr. Seuss must have been thinking of Scout when he created some of his characters. Except for the fact that Scout wasn’t born then. But certainly some ancestor was the model?

By the way, trying to get her to stand still to take a picture or two of her feet was next to impossible. That girl is almost 14 and you would never know it.

Anyway, back to the feet:

So darn cute.

I had approximately 3 or 4 hours of sleep. I stayed up late watching election returns. Then the subject of this post woke me at 7 am because she felt I should be up. And now that I’m awake? She’s sacked out, sleeping on the sofa.

What’s wrong with this picture?

Thanks for all the interesting comments and discussion on yesterday’s post. I speak, of course, only for myself and for the decisions I have made about what to discuss and what not to discuss on this blog. That is what feels right for me. Regarding religion on blogs: I was speaking about overly-preachy blogs. And there are many of them out there. But, I do know that if faith is a big part of your life, it cannot help but be part of the fabric of your posts. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s when that fabric turns into a pulpit that I have to walk away.

And as for politics, I won’t write about politics. But I will, and do, write about certain social issues – never, however, wielding a political or partisan stick. Just from the heart.

Okay. That’s that. I am barely coherent at this moment.

Happy Wednesday.

Look at those adorable tootsies!! When our dogs’ are furrier for the cooler months, their paw area starts to get pretty crazy — I tell them they have Hobbit feet ;-). Pretty funny that both of us chose descriptions that relate back to books! Hope you’re able to grab a nap today =).

I really do see Dr. Suess feet on Scout now that you mention it. I can just see her with antlers tied around her head for Christmas and Don dressed as the Grinch. That would make a cute Christmas picture but I’ll bet your girl would never go for it.

Interestingly, I coached the very first musical production of How the Grinch Stole Christmas at the Old Globe in San Diego. Don was Old Max – dressed in a dog suit! So we are very, very familiar with Whoville and the Grinch.

Now that you mention it….lol….should have called Scout Seuss instead, honey. :-) I’m with you on the religion and politics and I’m a very religious person. Some things just turn me off. Gearing up for my day. Not much going on, just reading today since an appointment I had just called and cancelled because the PT person is sick.

Hubs and I went to a movie last night. Argo. Good movie, Too many expletives for us but the movie was good. Hard to find good ones that aren’t geared to kids (animated) anymore. Where have all the good movies gone????

    xoxo,

Boo woke me up in the middle of a dream, and I am so groggy also, thankfully it wears off, oh about hours from now.

It’s starting to snow now, Mary. At this point it is just little flakes flying around on a rather cold, windy day. But we are supposed to get 3 – 6 inches!! (I just had some hot chocolate!) Hugs to you, my friend.

Hi Claudia, we finally got our heat and water back yesterday and now this blizzard is heading in! What are the weather pixies doing to us?? Still no phone or cable so we couldnt stay up watching but I’m having serious blog withdrawal. Thank heavens for Starbucks free Internet. Snuggle up with those cute feet and your honey. I do think Scout has a bit of the look of Max from the grinch! Especially when you catch a photo of her smiling. I’ll be back to catch up on your posts when I get my cable service back. Hmmm, when I typed “cable” my spellcheck on the iPhone changed it to “babble.”

I love Scout’s feet. My sweet old Goldie terrier mix is 14 and also blind and deaf now, she has feet just like Scout’s. Also my cat Baby has wild tuffs of fur coming out between her toes, it’s so pretty. I hope you don’t get as much snow as they are forecasting. At least we know your pantry is stocked!

Scout does have some pretty cute feet and they do look “Suess like” …my smile for the day. I am tired but I didn’t stay up last night. Woke up at 4am for some reason and then…well…you know, could not go back to sleep. My 3 year old granddaughter is here for a few days so that means not a lot of rest. I thought about you and wondered if you would get snow. Hopefully it will melt right away. ~Hugs, Patti

I did that the other night, Patti – woke up at 4 and that was it. Then last night, I stayed up until the middle of the night watching election returns. Not too much sleep for the past 2 days! I snuck a quick nap in this afternoon and I’m hoping that tonight will be better.

Absolutely adorable feet! Isn’t it unfair how dogs and children can just collapse anywhere and decide to take a nap while we have to keep onward and upward? I, too, get very sleep deprived when there’s a national or international event …. hurricanes, elections, conflicts. I can’t possibly sleep knowing something so momentous is happening and I invariably stay up for hours and hours and then am a total zombie for days afterwards.

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.
