Seems Fit for Office to Me

August 2, 2024 at 9:52 am by Claudia

Currently juggling all of these. Oh wait, the one in the middle is a journal that I hardly ever write in. The rest are books I am indeed reading.

The new Daniel Silva arrived at the library on Wednesday and, of course, I had to drop everything. It’s early days but I know it will be fabulous because Silva’s books always are.

Most of this morning has been spent reading about the release of Americans being held in Russia and the incredibly complex plan to secure their release – a plan that originally included Alexei Navalny. This plan was successful because of Joe Biden. His positive relationship with our allies, his statecraft, his years spent on foreign relations, and his pure goodness lead to this. I do not mean to exclude our State Department, Vice President Kamala Harris, or any of the players in this detailed plan – I thank them. But it was just – how many weeks ago? – that the media and some Democrats and big money Dem donors were relentlessly questioning Biden’s fitness for office – including the Wall Street Journal, where Evan Gershkovich worked. And, true to form, they have not thanked the President, because that would upset their narrative.

Gee, he seems pretty fit to me. In fact, I’d say he was a master at being President.

The hypocrisy just plain stinks.

Seeing the video of their arrival in the United States brought tears to my eyes. May they find peace with their loved ones.

And bravo to our amazing gymnasts. Each of them – two from the USA, one from Brazil – had to overcome tremendous obstacles to get where they are today. And they did it with determination, grace, and integrity.

Other news: It was an unbelievably humid and dangerously hot day yesterday (and will be today, as well.) I watered twice. We might have storms today and I say, bring them on! Let’s send this front, or whatever you call it, out to sea.

Of course, as per usual on the first Friday of the month so far this summer, there is the threat of bad weather and impossible humidty and Don has another outdoor concert tonight. He’s not playing; he hired the performers. But he has to be there. I hope they move it to an indoor venue because the weather forecast is too dicey. Fingers crossed.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

hope you all avoid scary storms, that don’s show is moved indoors to be safe. hope all his hard work is well attended and much appreciated. if the concerts ever get taped and posted to youtube, etc., will you please let us know? thanks. i’d love to hear them.

very glad for hostages to be released … relieved and happy for them and their loved ones. may they get all the help they need to recuperate and find peace.

love all your outdoor photos (nature is wonderful, soothing), but love the indoor ones, too … seeing how people decorate, what’s in their stacks of books … thanks for all you share.

we had lots of rain last month … nearly nine inches! i don’t wish hardship on people through floods, delayed farming, etc., or on animals, but personally i loved the hard rains and thunder and lightning. now we’re in for another very hot, dry week (my least favorite weather) so will be spending more time indoors with curtains closed. that’s the way it goes, huh?

hope you, don and everyone else have a wonderful weekend. stay safe in every way and no power loss from any storms.

After having so much rain for so long, we are very dry here. The rivers are quite low.

      Stay safe, Kathy.

I was so happy to hear the hostages are back at home…how wonderful that must feel for them. I’m also very happy that the release came about on Biden’s watch…he deserves to add this to his list of accomplishments. Hope you get the storms you want to help clear things out. I’ve really been enjoying the Olympics. All the athletes are amazing. Enjoy your reading… I’ll be doing the same. I have to finish the book I have as there’s one waiting for me at the library.

Yes….President Biden is still very much the President…and he proved it once again. I am so thankful that the hostages are home…what a joyous moment that was! Kudos to all, from our NATO allies to the people in his administration. What an accomplishment!

We are due for a break in our weather next week….can’t wait. 70’s! I just might have to get out there, and do some much needed weeding.

Looks like you are all set for reading this weekend and beyond. Enjoy! ;)

I think you are getting our last evening’s storm. And another big rain has just started seconds ago — right as I type. We ended up grilling in the carport last night and probably tonight, too. So much for eating outside. We’ll be sweating within, with a guest.

I’m with you on Joe and the hostage release. Quite the moment and he deserves huge credit. And to think — he locked that in and within a few hours, officially withdrew from the race. I cannot imagine what was going through his head and heart.

And the same with the gymnasts. It was quite the competition and I was glad I watched it. They amaze me! Happy reading.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
