Seen Around Hartford

May 8, 2013 at 8:50 am by Claudia

Seen on my walks around Hartford:

bridge

Bridge over the Connecticut River.

floodlines

High water marks from floods. The one at the top is truly shocking – during the flood in 1936 the water level rose to 37 feet.

lincoln&stowe

Abraham Lincoln meeting Harriet Beecher Stowe.

daffs

Daffodils.

club

The Hartford Club.

statue

A sculpture on Lincoln Financial Sculpture Walk along the Connecticut River – all the sculptures “reflect the life and values of Abraham Lincoln.”

river

This was taken a couple of weeks ago. Those trees should be full of leaves by now.

blocks

Two more blocks.

Another busy day ahead. I hope you have a fabulous Wednesday.

The pictures of Hartford are very good and they allows us a little ‘look see’ into a bit of your world away from home. And, even those pictures are nice – my favorite pics are of your quilt blocks. It’s very hard to compete with such lovely fabric all sewn up in pretty patterns ! Thank you again for sharing with us

That fabric is awfully pretty, Regina! I take no credit for it, I just fell in love with it.

Thanks Judy! It’s a bit rainy today which I am actually welcoming as it might wet down some of the pollen.

I’ll have to take some pictures next week at this incredibly old cemetery. It’s amazing.

Thank you for the tour. I really enjoyed it and especially liked the shawl Harriet Beecher Stowe is wearing. Even as a sculpture I want to touch it! :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

Oh, what a tragedy! But if the water rose that high, I’m amazed there weren’t more lives lost.

If you get a few hours off, try to get over to the Mark Twain homestead. Harriet Beecher Stowe lived right next door and that is open for tours also. Well worth the time if you can squeeze it in.

So green! Thanks for sharing the sites of Hartford. Looks like a great place to visit.

Great work on your blocks. It’s coming together. We just booked our holiday for the end of June, beginning of July and the cottage owners sent a note that the sewing machine will be on the kitchen table for when we arrive so I can do another quilt! I love them. She quilts and has been such a lovely mentor for me. Looking forward to making my own blocks soon.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
