Oh, hello! It’s time for another shelf tour.
This is the middle shelf in the china cabinet in the den.
Back row, left to right:
A peach colored McCoy vase.
A pillow vase in the Roseville Zephyr Lilly pattern. It’s flawless. This was a gift from a reader named Sonja. Sadly, I haven’t heard from her in a long, long time. I hope she’s well.
The next vase, in that scrumptious green color, might be my favorite. It’s in the Ixia pattern and it’s 8 inches tall. I love the art deco lines to the base and the flowers, as well as the subtle shading from green to cream. I painted this one in oils.
Next is my ‘saucy’ vase. It always reminds me of a woman standing with her hands on her hips. It’s the Snowberry pattern and it’s 6 inches tall. (Another oil painting.)
And then, a favorite vase in milk glass. Perfect for flowers, though I often forget to use it for bouquets nowadays.
Center row:
A cornucopia vase in Magnolia in a beautiful shade of green. It’s 6 inches tall and it was a gift from Sonja.
A little green duck made by Shawnee pottery.
A candleholder in the Gardenia pattern. I found this at an auction.
Front row:
A 4 inch tall vase in the Peony pattern. This was the other piece I found at the same auction I mentioned above.
A gorgeous candleholder in the Bleeding Heart pattern. A gift from Cathy, a longtime reader of this blog.
And my very first piece of Roseville, purchased back in San Diego at a time when prices were sky high. It was the only piece I could afford. It’s a small jardinière in the Bushberry pattern.
Next to the Roseville is a McCoy singing bird.
Way in the back are two silver and glass candleholders that were my grandmother’s.

A beautiful day today and I’m going to mow the front lawn. We’re supposed to get rain for the next few days starting tomorrow, so I have a deadline.
Three of the babies were around yesterday and I found myself longing for the days when Buddy is a solo visitor. Plus, the rabbit and the big groundhog that lives under the shed were hanging around. My afternoon was spent keeping an eye on the three babies and shooing them out of forbidden areas.
Stay safe.
Happy Wednesday and first day of summer.

thanks for another shelf-tour, claudia … i enjoy seeing and learning about what other people collect, things that make them smile and their hearts happy. :)
glad you’ve seen some of the groundhog babies. good luck keeping them at least a bit contained. :)
good luck with the mowing, too. hopefully you can beat the rain and the heat, then take it easy.
our forecast is for several days of 90-degree heat. not a fan. it is supposed to be a bit nicer on friday when some of my family and i are planning a boat ride on clear lake (a couple hours north of here) … good because we are looking forward to it. :)
for six years i lived in a small town not far from clear lake. had a very hard job, was often on-call and that meant working up to 80 hours a week. before and after work, even though i was so tired, i often drove over to the lake. being by water was soothing to me … and still is.
happy wednesday and first day of summer to everyone!
kathy

I grew up in the Great Lake State going to my family’s cottage and lived near the Pacific Ocean. Same here.

Thanks for another tour of your pottery shelves….I really like the Roseville one from San Diego….and the milk glass vase. It’s the first day of summer! Always loved hearing those words when I was a kid! Happy Wednesday!

Thanks so much, Barrie.
Stay safe.

What a great collection you have. That green vase is so striking. I would have it out on a table full of flowers all the time.
Sounds like in between your mowing you’re running a daycare for wildlife. Just like human toddlers, you have to keep an eye on them or they’re so destructive!
Take care,
Kay

Exactly!
Stay safe, Kay.

Love your Roseville Bushbury pattern. Such a lovely colour. I can see why you continued to collect after your first purchase. Happy first day of summer. Enjoy the longest day of the year. Hugs, Elaine
Claudia says
It was a long time before I could collect. Just that first purchase for many years because Roseville was so expensive. When the prices finally came down – that’s when I started to collect.
Stay safe, Elaine.

Precious collection Claudia thanks for sharing . The groundhog saga tickles my funny bone. I be,I lived on thirteen acres in North Central Pennsylvania. Watch the groundhog burrows under your storage shed. Skunks are lazy opptunist and will often move in. to groundhog burrows ,We had a soft coated Wheaten terrier that was sprayed one evening . My family did not sleep well that night and poor pup was not eager to go outside at night. It amazed us how fast the skunks moved in once the groundhogs moved OR did the skunks evict the groundhog family
Claudia says
Oh, I know about skunks! We had one living under our rental house in San Diego. Both our dogs got skunked, and several times, the skunk let off his scent right as he went under our house for the night. The house smelled for days.
I haven’t seen a skunk near the shed. And I know other animals also take over the burrows, but if that’s happened I haven’t been aware of it.
Your poor baby! It’s awfully scary to be sprayed by a skunk.
Stay safe, Pat.

Thanks for the tours. I love your pottery collection and the story behind each piece.
Really hot here. It has been in (or near) the 90’s for several days now. We haven’t had rain here since May 8th. Well,,,, we did have .10th of an inch around the end of May, but that is it. Our grass is brown and very crunchy. Hubs is hauling the hose through the yard every day. After the $$ we put into plants this Spring, it is silly not to take care of them.
Hope you had a lovely first day of Summer. We will continue praying and wishing and hoping for some rain!! So hot, we are having watermelon for supper!! Sounds so cool and refreshing.
Take care!
Claudia says
I am so sorry to hear of this drought, Chris. Praying that rain heads your way. Of course, you have to water. Buying the plants is an investment. I would do the same thing. In fact, I DID do the same thing last year when we suffered from drought.
I sure hope things change for you very soon.
Stay safe.
