She’s Moved In

July 17, 2009 at 10:19 am by Claudia

Remember this sweetie from Heidi’s shop? When we did our dual Pink Saturday posts, I made it clear that I wanted her. The story behind the doll: Heidi and I were on an antiquing jaunt and we spied this little honey. Heidi immediately thought she would look perfect in the baby room. When we took her up to the counter and remarked on her wonderful condition, we were told that doll collectors would pass on her because she had two left feet. Not ‘two left feet’ as in she can’t dance, but two actual left feet. Often times well-loved dolls needed replacement parts and this little girl had a replacement leg sewn on that had another left foot. Oh my. That only made us love her more. We took her back to the shop and Heidi placed her in the room, where she looked adorable.

I loved her. When I came home in April and visited the shop, Heidi and I got to talking about her. I decided I really wanted her. Heidi marked her sold and I brought her home yesterday.

There was a frenzy of sniffing going on here, hence the blurriness of the photo. Are their noses out of joint? Are they excited at the thought of a sibling? Or do they want to nibble on her?

We have to think of a name. And it has to start with an ‘H’ since that seems to be the theme at Heidi’s shop. I have some ideas, but I would love to hear yours.

Update: My sister suggested Tressa, which was the name of my Grandfather’s sister. She’s absolutely right – that name means a lot to us, so Tressa it will be. My Aunt was called Tress by those near and dear to her.

Oh Claudia honey! I can see why you loved her so much. Her little face is so precious. Who cares if she has two left feet? We are all a little different in God’s world so that make her that much more real. Wonderful post, and I just love her too. Stop by and say hi. I love seeing you when you do. Country Hugs, Sherry

She looks so cute sitting in the chair! Ha ha, they’re wondering, hey, she doesn’t move!!!

I’m thinking of old fashion ones, Hilda, Hannah (had to say this one), Hazel, Helena, Henreitta, Hildegard or Hildie, Holly.

    Hugs,

She is beautiful! I love her. I think her name should be Tressa Hill. It will be the only Tressa we get.

I’m having a childhood flashback right now because that doll reminds me of the one I used to always play with when I went to my Grandmother’s house as a child. It was the doll that belonged to her when she was a child.

I think the name is perfect. Thanks for the comments on the shawl, don’t you think it was meant for her?

Oh and I´m not good in giving names, sorry but i can imagine that an oldfashioned name would fit.

Hello my bloggy friend! WooHoo!!! Party day is just a week away! I’m so looking forward to seeing everyone’s creative spaces. I have a request… I thought it would be easier for everyone to leave comments if we all turned off comment moderation and word verification during the day (or maybe week) of the party. To do that, go to customize, settings, comments…then scroll down to turn off comment moderation and word verification.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and a fabulous week. See you next Friday!!

Oh why? Why would anybody not want her at all? :-( She looks adorable and I like her little chubbiness :-)

Maybe, it was meant for you to have. You know, other eyes were purposely blinded from her beauty so that when the right person comes – then her true beauty will be revealed. Hhmmmm that sounds so much like in a fairy tale LOL But it is nice to think that way.:-)sweet little Tressa

I was going to comment on your pink Saturday post. Then I read that you had brought your doll home. She looks like she belongs right there too. So, she can’t dance…but she sure does look sweet!
    Have a wonderful weekend Claudia!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
