Shopping with Maryjane

June 1, 2010 at 12:03 am by Claudia

Maryjane and I spent much of our time together talking and eating – but we did manage to go in one shop, Madison Manor. It is a beautiful shop, full of vintage and new. Here are some photos:

Do I really need to say once again how much I want a vintage dress form?

I love this little doll. Does anyone know what this type of doll is called? Note to Maryjane’s husband: Maryjane wants the round version of the pink jeweled clock. Her birthday is soon. Hint, hint.

This is the tallest bottle rack I’ve seen – so tall I chopped off the top of it in the photo.

See those little aqua colored clocks? I just now noticed them – how did I miss them in the shop?

I love cherubs.

I found a little something while I was shopping. Remember the china I bought on eBay? Here is a photo of the pattern:

I couldn’t resist this vintage hand-painted creamer and sugar – made in Bavaria. Since part of the creamer had been mended, I got them for a song.

I thought they would go nicely with the china – in the same color range, yet different enough in design to be interesting.

Happy 64th Anniversary to my Mom and Dad! I love you both very much.

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

in the photo that you mentioned the little aqua clocks, did you see that light blue pillow by any chance? it looks like something my mom used to make. they were round and usually velvet with fancy stitching on the sides. anyways, i think it’s cute.

    Hi Claudia:
Such fun things you find! I also covet an antique dress form. sigh, and that bottle rack really is something else! I saw that A Beautiful Life sells small ones for over $200. I’m curious what they were asking for the large one you saw in the shop. A person might need to take out a mortgage! lol
Have a grand day, my friend.

That shop would be like being in heaven to me. I love to walk around and just look at these beautiful things. I don’t have any knowledge about what’s valuable and what’s not, but I know what I like.
That bottle rack would surely come in handy for something in my sewing room. I’m not sure what, though.

Oh how I wish I could come play with you, too! With a wedding just past, I have no funds for quite a while. Keep having fun though, and keep us entertained with your shopping sprees.

Such fun going shopping with you! As several others have commented, the little doll is a pincushion doll. My mother use to make them, some from the antique bisque dolls, others from more contemporary dolls. They’re beautiful and functional, too!

    Happy Anniversary to your parents.

To answer your question about how you missed the little blue clocks….my theory: There is so much ‘eye candy’ competing for attention that it’s easy to miss many things. Taking photos is a great way NOT to miss anything….are you considering becoming a buyer yet?????

Yea for you finding that creamer and sugar, Claudia, and I think you might need to go back and rescue one of those aqua clocks.

Happy Belated Anniversary to your parents!
