Not many words today. I’m sleepy and groggy and it’s foggy out and I need to just be.
Fall color has arrived early. And the leaves are falling, as you can see in the picture below.
It seems to be happening everywhere. When I posted one of these photos on Instagram, several people said autumn and its color change had come early in their neck of the woods, too. Melanie said it was because the weather had been so dry where she lives in Illinois. But it’s been very wet here. We haven’t suffered from dry weather. Nevertheless, it’s early here as well. (Just did a google search – apparently too much rain can also cause leaves to turn color and fall earlier than usual.)
No vignette here – just Mother Nature at her artful best.
Yesterday’s morning glory. Such gorgeousness.
Don’s home. We’re both tired. We’ve both been through a stressful week, for varying reasons. I have to do some prep for my coaching job tomorrow. But I really just feel like napping.
Happy Sunday.

“Not many words today. I’m sleepy and groggy” wow, this is me to a T this morning. I can’t seem to get going. Headache, body just tired and not up to doing much. The sun is shining so I think I’ll just relax a bit today. Hope you and Don get some rest. Hugs!

Good morning, Claudia. I’m feeling a little sleepy myself this morning, as Tim called me right before midnight last night (I had just fallen asleep) to let me know he was safe and sound at a friend’s house, but that he witnessed a bad accident right near this friend’s house. He was giving me the details and it was very upsetting. I had a hard time falling back asleep after that. Then he called me again at 8 this morning, asking if we could pick him up. (He had left his car at another friend’s house and took an Uber to where he is now, since he had a couple of beers and of course, doesn’t drive when he’s done so.) So anyway…Brian’s on his way to pick up Tim and I need to wash up and get dressed, as we’re all going out to breakfast. Then I think the rest of my day will be low key. I’m going to play around with a little fall decor, do some chalk painting on a couple of antique drawers I found, and plan the week’s dinner meals. And read the Sunday paper, which always feels like a luxury to me. I hope that you and Don also have a low-key day and perhaps get a chance to take a nap.
Here I thought our color change was early because of the dryness, but I guess the color change happens earlier than I remember. I was looking at the September photos from 2016 on my blog and my neighbor’s gorgeous maple tree was already turning orange and red, when this year, it’s barely started.

I hope you can rest today and enjoy your time with Don while he’s home. And Stella!
We’re off to spend the morning at the Annual Dollhouse Show in the big city. I think this might be the one Barbara attends. Can’t wait to see all the tiny creations this year.

It’s a gloomy, sleepy day in southern Mo. too! Not certain that any one thing has caused our leaves to start falling early but we’ve had rain & dry and nice cool evenings for some time. Anyway, I’m ready! Enjoy a restful, peaceful, hygge kind of a day.

How beautiful your porch looks!

I think a good solid nap is an outstanding idea. My paternal grandmother lived to be 98 1/2 and she had a nap every afternoon of her adult life, from what I’ve been told. Even when she had little kids. I guess she napped when they did back then. I know I always had to take a nap when staying at her house [and 11-year old Me sometimes resented it too – LOL]. I’ll bet our cavepeople ancestors ceased their activities at midday to take cover from the sun at its peak & rest. The urge for a nap might just be hardwired into our DNA. It’s still common in many places around the planet, though I’m sure you already knew that. Snooze away, my friend & enjoy your Sunday with Don. Peace.

Simple sounds about perfect. We had heat and high humidity yesterday, and today it is cooling off a lot, but the humidity hasn’t broken as of yet. And we received a whole 1/10th of an inch of rain over night. A good inch or two is needed. The little Locust tree leaves have turned yellow and it looks like a golden snow-storm coming down from the tree across the street. The street is completely covered!
Hope you both have a stress-free day, and enjoy your time together.

yes…perfect…golden snow-storm!! ;)

Hope you and Don can take a nap later if you are still sluggish. We went to breakfast early with son #3, and his girlfriend. It’s still humid here like Chris said, but, cooler. Good day to laze around…is laze even a word? I like mother nature’s vignettes the best. Enjoy! ;)

Nap away! Do what you need to do. I fell asleep on Friday after work and it felt so good. Not much fall color here in Montana. But we are getting needed snow in the mountains already. :) Have a good week. Kit

I’m finding I can hardly keep my eyes open, too. As part of the Equifax breach…a victim, I should say; I’m really tired of feeling like a victim this year (a host of things in my life over the past 12 mos)…I just want to bury my head in the sand, or sleep. I can’t seem to uncomplicate or simplify.

Well, that was a bit too much of Debbie Downer; sorry. I meant to say that the photos of your yard are so pretty; such lush vegetation. We need rain again, soon, in SoCalif; we’re looking somewhat barren and brown again, all too reminiscent of recent drought. But I did see a tree turning color this week (a sort of rare sighting in this neck ‘o the woods, at least for Sept, as we usually get a late Fall, ala Oct-Nov).

I believe that if you feel like you need a nap then you should take one…then do your prep work and then have the rest of the day to relax with Don…listen to me..trying to direct the rest of your day!…lol…Anyway I hope you both feel rested up and ready to go to your work tomorrow!
