I woke up this morning and as I was making coffee and attending to those first tasks of the morning, I looked at the date. February 17th. What was it about that date? I kept trying to grasp some memory, some thought, that was just beyond my reach.
After the first sip of coffee, it hit me. But I checked my archives to be sure.
I started this blog six years ago. Today.
After reading blogs for several months and wondering if this might be for me, I mentioned to Don that this new thing might be a way for me to indulge my love of writing. And then I mentioned it again. And again. Finally, he told me to just do it.
And I did. Here’s the first post:
Welcome to my blog, Mockingbird Hill Cottage! I have been reading and commenting on various blogs for a long time and now I have finally started my own. Believe me, I will be learning as I go. I’m looking forward to meeting new friends and sharing my thoughts, projects and experiences with you. Mockingbird Hill Cottage is so named because my favorite book of all time is To Kill a Mockingbird and my maiden name is Hill. It is also a salute to a mockingbird that serenaded us every night with the most beautiful music when we lived in California. I hope your day is a happy one.
There was no photo. I hadn’t figured out how to do that yet. All I knew was that I had to get a post on the virtual page to make it official.
Was anybody out there? Yes, there were a few people that found me in those early days, thank goodness. But there were plenty of posts over the next year that had absolutely no comments.
I just kept writing.
In those days, there were far fewer blogs out there and it was much less competitive. I miss that a bit. Yes, this is a wonderful community, but in my first year or two of blogging it was a lot more like a small town. Facebook hadn’t taken off yet. Twitter wasn’t in the picture. Neither was Instagram or any of the other sites or apps that take only a minute of one’s time and sacrifice words and story and heft for quick and light.
There are people who say that reading a blog post takes too much time, that Twitter and Facebook are becoming the preferred way to share something in this world of 30 second attention spans. That people don’t want to read a long post. I even read the occasional prediction that blogging is becoming a thing of the past.
All I can say is: If people are having trouble reading a blog post, we’re in trouble. Because if that is true, I can only assume that reading a book must be simply impossible. And that reading an in-depth article simply cannot be done.
I prefer substance.
This medium of words and images, of peeks into each other’s lives, this place where we share our sorrows and our joys, our routine and not-so-routine days, has opened up a whole new world to me. I am forever grateful for the day I hit ‘Publish’ and joined so many others who were exploring this new thing called blogging.
True. That’s why blogging is so wonderful for me. I can sit here at my laptop, house quiet, the sound of Scoutie snoring on the sofa, and I can write. I can write a journal that is not only for me – it’s for you. I can share my thoughts and fears and happiness and sorrow with you. I can take a photo and instantly share it with you along with some, hopefully, well chosen words.
Pretty gosh darned amazing, isn’t it?
Finally, thank you. Thank you for being there. Thank you for taking the time to visit my little home on the Web. Thank you for all the times you’ve commented. Thank you for all the times you have sent me a personal note or an email or a thoughtful gift. Thank you for reaching out to me in times of sorrow. Thank you for words of encouragement. Thank you for laughter. Thank you for You.
I am so very grateful for our friendship.
Happy Monday.
Claudia,
Congratulations on six years of blogging !!!!!!
Thank you for hitting that publish button six years ago and thank you for sharing your life with us. I am so happy that I found your blog and will continue to enjoy your daily posts for as long as you write them.

Your blog is one of the most well written and enjoyable that I read, and the only one that posts every day. I look forward to it each morning. Thank you for writing and sharing your life and pictures with us. Congratulations on your six year anniversary! I hope there are many more
Thank you, Sherry!
Claudia, I remember writing you an email…cause I didn’t blog. I liked that you travel, did theater, did crafts, had a husband who sings. You are interesting. Blessings to you, hope you blog a long time. …so I have something to read. xoxox, Susie
Thank you so much, Susie!
Congratulations on six years! I’m so happy to have found your blog. (And I will always enjoy your long, chatty posts!)
Oh good! Thank you, Sylvia!
Congratulations on six years,
Claudia! I’m coming up on
four (and quite soon, a new
look – finally!) but don’t post
as often and for sure not every
day. What a lovely and awesome
commitment to your readers : )
I love your sweet world and your
thoughts on blogs versus the “fast
stuff.” As a lover of books, I also
hope that we aren’t creating a
society of readers who have to
absorb a message in ten seconds
or less!
Here’s a toast to the next six : )
xo Suzanne
Thank you, Suzanne!
I am so glad you took that first step, Claudia, because I really enjoy your blog! It is my first click in the morning!! Congratulations on six years!! Thanks for sharing your life and loves with us!! Francine
Thank you, Francine!
I enjoy reading your blog. You have a terrific writing style and your photos are wonderful. As a quilter, I particularly appreciate seeing your projects. Congratulations on your 6 years and best wishes for many more.
Thank you, Nicole!
I love substance, too Claudia and there is always plenty of substance on your blog. Congratulations on six years. BTW you are mentioned on my blog today. xo Laura
I’ll head over after I’m done with more shoveling and work outside, Laura. Thank you!
I am from Canada and I enjoy reading your blog every day. Melanie. I know if I lived next door to you we would be good friends!
Oh, thank you, Melanie!
And I’m so glad you started blogging, Claudia. Yours is the first I check each morning and I can count on you being here! I enjoy the variety and the pictures and anything that you care to share with us. Keep on doing what you’re doing! And, the ads don’t bother me a bit. I am very good at not even noticing such things. I move right on to the good stuff.
I have felt bad for you during this blizzard season; hope this is the last and you will get yourself all dug out soon.
More snow tomorrow – about 4 or 5 inches, I guess.
I’ve had it!
Thanks for your kind words, Deb!
I love reading blogs. I love the window it people’s lives. I steer clear of the big blogs, because I feel they are too corporate and big business. I’m so happy that people take the time out of their day, to put something together and hit publish! Lx
Thank you, Laura!
Congratulations on six years! Your blog is one of my favorites. Also congratulations to Don on his Critics award. It is so nice to be recognized in ones work. Very well deserved I am sure!
Tana
Thank you, Tana!
congratulations on your anniversary. I want to thank you for giving me something to read each day. My day is brighter because of you.
Balisha
That makes me happy. Thank you, Balisha!
Wow. You started your blog on this date? Very Cool. Today happens to be my birthday as well. Happy Birthday to us both! :D
Have a great day.
~ Cassandra
Happy Birthday, Cassandra!
Happy blogaversary! I read your post with my coffee each morning. It is like having a short visit over coffee with a friend.
Thank you so much, Carolyn Marie!
Congratulations on six years and thank you for blogging! I enjoy reading your blog and being inspired by your creativity!
Thank you, Debbie!
Congratulations on sticking to blogging for six years! I look forward to reading your blog every day!
Thank you, Louise!
And thank God you did go forward and write that first post! Your blog is always like sitting down with a friend for some tea and a good chat…love it!
Blessings, Joanne
Thank you so much, Joanne!
Congrats on your Blogiversary! A great accomplishment. I’d been wondering if I should keep working on my new blog and reading this helped a lot. I admit I’m haven’t always been good about leaving comments on blogs I read, but once you write a blog, you realize it means something to the blogger to see comments. I haven’t expected to get many comments so soon, and that’s a good thing, because I haven’t had many. I’ll stick it out for the rest of this year certainly and hope to see a few more viewers. I could only hope to be doing this in six years. Well done!
Please stick it out, Gina. It took me about 2 years to build up a readership.
Thanks for your kind words!
Congrats on six years of blogging! It’s fascinating how much has changed in the online world in those six years. I’m a more recent reader of your blog, and I really must go read some of your older posts. I had no idea how your blog got its name. I had wrongly assumed it was in reference to a place name near your cottage.
Thank you, Kristie!
Congratulations, Claudia. And here is to many more years to come!! I have told you before how much I enjoy and appreciate that you nearly always blog in “real time”. That is pretty unique. So many blogs try to SOUND like they are doing so, but if you read closely, they are usually posting today with “news” of things that happened weeks ago. That, along with so many of their pictures, is just too staged for me. Being real is so much more interesting!!
Another thing you do is respond to everyone who leaves a comment. I don’t even know if bloggers know they are doing it, but when someone who doesn’t blog comments on their posts, I would say about 99% of them never leave a comment back. They do comment back to all of the other bloggers though. I’m not sure I understand that. My first thought is that because I don’t blog, that I can’t promote their blog or help them in some way, so they skip over us. So, I want to thank you for that, also!
Hope your day is a good one and I also hope that the crud that is falling heavily from our sky does NOT make it to you.
I don’t think I could be anything other than real, Chris. I’m glad to hear that you and others appreciate that!
The crud is on its way here tomorrow!
Thank you for your kind words.
Six years go by in a hurry. This blogging community is a curious thing, not unlike penpals of old, but with more immediacy. Your blog is well written, with a variety of topics that I enjoy. A little slice of life. Congratulations.
Thank you, Lorrie!
Another thank-you Claudia! Your offerings radiate from within and are much appreciated. And, yes! to being able to be present for the length of a concept or story in the fast paced world!
Thank you, Grace!
I so very much look forward to your new posts. You have such a wondful “way” with words. To be honest, I don’t even remember how I found your blog but am so happy I did. You are right when you say if someone can’t read a blog then how can they read a book? Books and blogs are my very favorite reads and I do read a lot! Keep on keeping on, you are very much appreciated.
Thank you, Dorothy!
I don’t remember at all how I came across your blog and started reading it..I’m just so happy that I did! Hugs!
Thank you, Nancy!
Congratulations, Claudia! Your blog is the first thing I check in the morning, and I can truthfully say that I don’t think I would have a blog if it hadn’t been for your inspiration and encouragement! I am in awe of your commitment to honest blogging–sharing your life “as is” and not just the rosy moments. Your dedication to your blog–writing daily and always answering comments, shows your integrity. Hopefully you can take a day off from shoveling! Stay warm and safe, xxoo, Martha
Today I have to do some work outside, unfortunately – then tomorrow more snow. Oy.
Thank you for your kind words, my friend.
Happy 6th anniversary Claudia. I am sure glad you love blogging, because I love your blog. I look for it each morning. If I need to shut down the computer for some really serious reason (it would have to be), I can’t wait til I can get back on to read your daily post.
Your content is always, always excellent. Even if you’re writing about the snow storm.
You are joyful, even when I think you don’t feel that way.
I hope you continue for many many years to come.
Thank you so much, Trudy!
When my sister’s and I were younger we used to fantasize about one of us winning the lottery and buying a big piece of land and all of us having a home built so we could walk to each other’s houses for coffee in the morning. Of course that never happened but I found your blog a couple of years ago Claudia and to me it’s like having a sister or best friend who loves to share and lets me share right back. Yours is the only blog I read every day. I just haven’t found any others that claimed my attention so well. Congrats on 6 years of blogging. I’m so glad you decided to hit that publish button. I hope you have a wonderful day!
That’s such a nice thing to hear, Janie. Thank you so very much!
Claudia, I am so glad you hit publish also. I only wish I had found your blog much earlier on! I am in my 5th year of blogging but I don’t blog everyday like you do. I admire that about you among many things. I am so glad we have become friends. You have added so much to my life. So happy blog anniversary to you!!!
hugs, Linda
Thank you, Linda!
I can’t imagine giving up blog reading for twitter lol
Thank you for doing this for six years ~ yours was one of many that I initially subscribed to, but is now one of the only ones I regularly read. I so enjoy the reading about the world of Claudia and Scout and Don …. I had to take a break for a bit when Riley died because my dog Rebel died right around then and it was just too much ~ I not only missed my Rebel but Your Riley. Anyway, congratulations! I hope you’re writing for many many more!
hugs,
tracy
Thank you so much, Tracy!
Six years…congrats! I guess that’s a long time in blog years! I too, think it’s a sad day, if reading a blog takes too long. I know I’ve told you before, but…I really enjoy your blog. It’s authentic. No staging, just real life…the good and sometimes the not so good. And, you respond to our comments…..not too many bloggers do that! I love the conversations that sometimes develop from that…talking as if we are in the same room…face to face! You are a part of my morning routine! Have a great day! ;)
I love those conversations, too, Donna!
Happy Anniversary! I haven’t followed you since the beginning but you are a treasured part of every day. Yours is the only blog that I consistently read every day. When I check my e-mail, you are there and it feels like an e-mail from another one of my friends. J
Thank you, Julie!
Your blog feels like a daily visit with a friend. We have many things in common, love of pottery, decorating with found objects, missing our monthly magazines, love of our pets. I so look forward to seeing you in my inbox like clockwork each day. One day last week your blog wasn’t there. I kept checking and worrying all day that perhaps something had happened that you weren’t able to write that day. Finally I signed on to your website and found you! A couple days later while cleaning out my mailboxes I found that day’s message in the junk file. Horrors! Mockingbirdhill Cottage certainly does not belong there! See how your virtual friends depend on you and worry about you? Thanks for sharing your life and your home with us.
Aw, thank you, thank you, Barbara!
And thank you for all the effort and thought you put into your daily post. Well done! I never miss a post and marvel at how you consistently come up with good stuff to write about as well as photos to go along with it.
Thank you so much, my friend. And thank you for your support.
Congratulations on six years. I was like wow when you rattled off what we didn’t have six years ago! I don’t follow Twitter, it seems overwhelming to me. I prefer to read something with substance, also. I know my daughter talks about how so many of her friends don’t read books and that’s sad. I love checking in w/you daily to see what you two are up too and if Scoutie is nestled in her tunnel! Loved the snow hat on her the other day, by the way. I hope you got your fuel delivery OK. You also provide a wonderful way for many women to feel like they belong to something, as we age, retire from busy jobs, children leave the nest, friends and loved ones pass or relocate, and some don’t go out as much as they used too, or living in snow country they curtail their activities,, it gives us a feeling of attachment to something and someone.
Thank you so much, that means a great deal to me, Annette!
Six years of blogging…wow. I am so glad to have met you through your wonderful blog. I feel like I truly know my blogging friends; that they’re much more than “just” online friends. I even talk about you (and other blogging friends) to Brian!
Thank you, Melanie!
I just discovered Blogs a little over a year ago…(where was I all that time?!)Yours was the first one I subscribed to! Here’s hoping there will be 6 more years!!
Thank you, Lori!
Hi Claudia
I love your blog, but I’m guilty of being one of your “skimmers” I don’t always catch every word that u wrote, and it’s true that I do have difficulty concentrating on books. But I think there are other factors that go into it, because I love books. Depression, bad health, impatience…there are so many things that factor into it besides not loving books.
Even though I may not read every word, I read enough to know that you are interesting. You make me think, and I’ve decided to start a blog in the near future. I may not be the best decorator or the best photographer, but I have things to say. Thanks for being an inspiration.
Thank you, Sheree!
Congrats! Aug will be 6 years for me also. Yes things have certainly changed!
Hey fellow reader..Have you read The Goldfinch yet? Was wondering what you thought…
Haven’t read it yet, Suzan, though I’ve heard some interesting reviews!
Thanks for your good wishes!
This is a thought- provoking and inspiring post, Claudia. It’s a real problem, as you said, that this is the era of everything-right-now, quick- quick, appearance instead of substance, and no attention. Looks like many out there are totally not aware of this.
I am very grateful for you take the time to keep writing and share the stories.
Monica xoxo
Thank you so much, Monica!
P.S. Gosh you made me think! It will be 6 years for me, too, in November! Yay!! I started in November 2008, then had to delete several posts due to copyright infringements, but I have saved them! :)
Hugs to you.
I bet there are a bunch of us who have been reading each other for a while who are having 6 year anniversaries this year.
Thank you so much for al of your heartfelt posts. I always look forwch and every one. I consider you a friend even if we have never met in person.
xo
We are friends, Debby. Thank you!
Happy Blogaversary and thanks for sharing all those years.
Thank you, Carol Ann.
Congratulations on the anniversary! I prefer blogs to Facebook and hope you’ll continue with the blogs. Thank you for all the effort your put into your blog.
Thank you, Linda!
And I only just discovered you a couple of days ago; I’ve missed out! I love substantive posts. I love books with spines and refuse to buy a Kindle. I like a paper newspaper on Sunday morning. I like to curl up with a favorite magazine, glossy pages, pretty pictures. I think electronic birthday cards are clever but cold. I’m determined to find a place for my grandmother’s upright piano which my family had ‘lost’ for over forty years. I love to collect all kinds of things and I am also a gatherer despite my current push to declutter. A fancy car is never on my list. I love my pets although they sometimes cause me a lot of work because I have too many of them. I have a lust for learning and discovering new things, to the point where I have too many interests going on at one time. I love to write but my emails, letters in the snail mail and blogging replies get ‘way too long and I’m told I should get my own blog. I’m trying to curb spending and learn to be more frugal like my sensible Depression-era parents. I don’t do Facebook or any of that stuff. Call me a dinosaur; I don’t care.
Blogging is relaxing but more importantly, I’ve learned so much from my favorite blogs, both from their owners and also their readers. I have said this a hundred times but, to me, it’s not unlike my great-grandmothers at a quilting bee, sharing household tips, remedies, thoughts/fears/observations…coming together and being friends as the great prairie tried to isolate them from one another. Women particularly will alwas find a way to connect…and I would think that I was pathetic, looking at cyber/virtual friends as “real” in my life…when I couldn’t hear the sound of their voices or reach out and hold their hand or see expression on their faces, yet I’ve felt genuine encouragement, support, compliments, constructive criticism (helpful) and a lot of other positives from fellow reader friends here on the web. At these times in my life where I don’t globetrot as I once did and, I too, am a bit more solitary in some ways, I find it fascinating to connect with blog owners from all over the world, sharing their customs, traditions and goings-on of everyday life (pen pals!). I had to cut down the number of blogs I read because I was doing too much ‘sitting’ and it CAN be time-consuming…so I also edit fairly frequently…but there are thousands of blogs out there and something for everyone. I’m thrilled I discovered the blogging world (and I was very slow to even embrace the internet).
I think it’s amazing that you respond to your readers; that you do replies! I know the snow is awful right now, but it’s interesting to have a firsthand ‘listen’ to what it’s like and maybe it also helps you a bit, with your partner gone, to talk to ‘someone’ out there beyond that frozen white world who will sympathize and boost you up, right along with a good cup of hot something, a warm blanket, precious Scout and your wonderful, cozy cottage.
I personally am glad I stumbled onto a blog written by someone who is a good writer and who LOVES to write on a variety of topics. I feel lucky. You keep on writing, Claudia! I’m all ears!
You sound like my kind of person, Vicki. I love the quilting bee reference. I think you’re absolutely right.
Maybe you should seriously consider blogging? You write beautifully.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Hi Claudia-
congratulations on your 6th anniversary for blogging!
I don’t even know what my anniversary date would be. I could check the archives for Corn…but I blogged on a Homeschool blogger platform(when my kids were teens) and then went to Blogspot after that– with a different niche blog.
I think at Corn I’ve been blogging about 6 years too. I love the blogging community. I do have some of the other things– the Instagram, FB, etc… but I really like blogging.
I just posted that I’m taking a blogging break for my own Rest and Spiritual well being– but I do love the connection I’ve made with my blogging friends. I ‘m so glad you are blogging and that our lives have crossed paths– I consider you one of chatty friends! I bet your ears are burning at times…because I have started many a conversation with “My friend Claudia…” I tell people about Don’s work, your students, and our similar interests in programming and handiwork.
I just love blogging too.
Pat
I love the blogging community, too, Pat. I’m so glad you’re a part of it. Take that rest – it’s good for the soul.
Thanks you for your kind words!
Happy “Blog Day”!! I am so happy that you have this blog. Why, you ask. Because it is one of the ways I start my day!! I enjoy your posts as if we were 2 friends just having a quick (or not so quick) chat. There is so much to each and every post, but the biggest appeal to your blog is that it is real. It is a real home with real plus and minus points. (like real life) Thank you so much for keeping it real!!!!
Oh, and give Scout a few extra pets for being such a big part of your blog. :-D
Thank you so much, Teresa!
Happy Blog Anniversary!
I have been reading yours for 5 years now!!! :)
I’m so glad you’re here, Laura!
Thank you Claudia for hitting the publish button! I have been a constant visitor & enjoy your well written blog daily. Your experiences, your point of view mean so much to me. I often think, how would Claudia respond….seriously, please keep publishing your blog! I would be first in line if you published a book of all six years! Thank you again. A faithful reader.
Oh thank you, Marcy Ray! You’re making me blush!
Congrats on your anniversary, Claudia. I know it must take a lot more time and effort than we readers realize to do all this. You write every day, you’re always interesting, you include the most amazing photos and you write so well. If you were a baseball player, you’d be a quadruple threat! Keep up the great job! PS – Rochester is finally having a sunny day – hope you are too!
I wish I was getting a baseball player’s pay! Thank you so much for your kind words, Janet. We are sunny too, but snow is on the way.
Hello Claudia! Here’s to another sweet six years! I have been following you for about 5 years and been an occasional commenter for about 4. I have felt friendship and care the entire time, whatever it is. I log in even when I don’t comment just so you might know I stopped by.
Thank you so much, Kelly!
Happy 6th, Claudia. I’m glad to hear you still enjoy blog writing because I enjoy dropping by for a good read.
Karen
Oh, thanks so much, Karen!
Happy Anniversary! I feel so very fortunate to have discovered your blog. Reading about your adventures is a pleasure. I truly feel sorry for those individuals on the fast track who feel they haven’t the time to read blogs, books, or whatever written material. I am fortunate to have the time to enjoy many of the great things life has to offer, but I tend to think we all adjust our time to focus on what really matters to us. What a shame it would be to miss out on all the terrific things you elect to share with us :-)
By the way, I really do think your selection of the new bed coverlet is gorgeous! I have been flip flopping between contenders for my bedroom and with your influence, I predict a new color has entered the game. For such a long time I have favored all white, and although I will always have a soft spot for it, COLOR seems to be the name of the game in this household for spring.
Here is to many more years of enjoyable blogging :-)
Oh I’m a big fan of color, Jeannine, so I’m happy to hear that you might be going for color this spring. Thanks for your kind words.
Dear sweet friend,
Thank you for the memories…happy tears in my eyes:-) I wish I could send you sunshine, but we have clouds…sending hugs from middle TN!
Thank you so much, Carol!
Congratulations on 6 years of blogging and keeping it real! I have 2 favourite blogs yours and Brenda from cozy little cottage. I love to read about your cottage, Don and most of all the star……..Scout. Your writing is amazing and you are so talented you bring sunshine and rainbows into my life. Thank you for being so creative. Love Janine, South Australia ♥♥♥
Scout IS the star! Thank you, Janine!
Thank you for your blog. I read 4 blogs every day and your is one of them. I like your pictures of nature and your house. It looks so cozy and welcoming. I would love to visit you and Don and have tea in your special cups. Everyday life can be interesting, as you prove everyday. I like when you share where you buy products and I always check the site. I love your red shoes. It made me want a pair just like them. Upon viewing the company site I realized that the cost was more than my pocketbook could stand at this time. Last week I found a pair of red Life Stride loafers on sale at Belk”s department store on sale for $24. I wore them to church yesterday and couldn’t help admiring them as I listened to the sermon. I love me some red. If I knew how to post pictures I would send you one. (big smile)
Those shoes were expensive, and a splurge for me. But since I didn’t have any shoes that fit they were worth it. Glad you got some red shoes, Carol! Thank you.
Congratulations on your six year blogaversary! Thank you for the time and effort you put into posting each day. Reading your blog is a happy part of my daily routine.
Thank you so much, Debbie!
Congratulations. CLaudia on your blog anniversary. That is a lot of writing for us to enjoy! Take care’ Doris
Thank you, Doris!
I always enjoy visiting your blog for my daily dose of blogging wisdom. You are such a dedicated blogger and you write such inspiring posts of your daily life. Congratulations on your 6 year blogging anniversary, Claudia!
Thank you, Diane!
Happy 6th, Claudia! You are a ‘solitary person who loves to chat’…with hundreds, it seems!! I may have mentioned this to you before, but your slogan also represents ME, to a ‘T’, at this point in my life. I enjoy your words and images; here’s to the next six years, and more!
xo
Poppy
Thank you so much, Poppy!
Happy Anniversary~~~Good blogs like yours is like getting a letter from a girlfriend. Keep up the great posts & pictures.
The pic of Scout in the red “Russian” hat is hysterical!! Have a good week in spite of the snow & make your plans for when Don comes home.
XO, Linda
Oh, that seems a long way off, Linda. Thank you for your kind words!
COngratulations on 6 years! Today is my Nana’s birthday. She’s been gone since 1982 but she’s in my heart every single day. Now I’m the Nana of 4 teens and they are my Treasures.
Thank you, Chris! Happy Birthday to your Nana.
Congratulations on your six years of blogging. I’m not sure exactly when (0R how) I found you but I am glad I did., You have enriched my life and I find that even though our lives are very different, I have a lot in common with you,! Love blogging and reading and getting to KNOW someone-something that doesn’t really happen on Facebook or Instagram. I hope blogging is here to stay- xo Diana
Me too, Diana! Thank you so much!
A great big congratulations on your 6 years of blogging! So glad I discovered you a couple of years ago.
Thank you, Sandy!
Congratulations on 6 years of blogging Claudia. I’ve often wondered how long bloggers continue with their writing. I get sad when I see someone I’ve followed close it up. I wish you many more years of blogging. It’s obvious you have quite a following here of dedicated readers. That shows it’s not only good for you but for them as well.
I get sad when I see that happen, too. Thank you for your kind words, Patty!
Happy Blogaverary dear Claudia. I completely agree. I love blogging because I can write a post in my PJ’s without my hair and makeup done and get things off of my chest when I need to. The best thing though are the other wonderful “Penpals” I have met, like you!
Thank you so much, Sue!
Claudia,
Congratulations on your six years. I for one am soooo very glad you stuck around. I can tell that you enjoy blogging and I can also tell how much people enjoy your blog. I had a blog, but haven’t posted since 2012. Life overtook me for a while. I’d love to start again, but I don’t know whether to start over with a new name or just start up where I left off. I also never know how much of my personal life to share. I’ve already shared a lot. Anyway, I love your blog and feel I am getting to know two new friends; you and Don. Thank you and again congrats!!!
Sandra
Knowing how much to share is a tricky thing, Sandra. I understand. Thank you for your kind words!
I’m so glad you started, and that I discovered you not too long after you began what has always been one of my favorite blogs to follow. But it’s YOU, yourself, sweet, intelligent, kind, thoughtful, down to earth Claudia I’m really following, haha!
You certainly enjoy what you do here I know – it comes through in each and every post – never boring always true.
My seventh blogaversary coming up soon…where have all those years gone? I know I’ve done a lot, been around the block a few times, and had days when perhaps a post was not forthcoming for a genuine reason – such as no Internet in Antarctica on really windy days – but I’ve given my best too because, like you dear, I enjoy it… and it has been such fabulous education.
Let’s keep on keeping on as they say.
Hugs, and hope you’re warm there with Scout, and having nice chats with Don.

Oh, Mary, we are long-time blogging friends and I’m so glad we are! We will definitely keep on keeping on. Love to you, my friend.
Claudia, I am so glad that you started this blog 6 years ago. I found you about 2 years ago and I have enjoyed every post since that time. You are the first blog I check every day and look so forward to it! Please keep up the good work, dear friend. I always feel that you should write a book, I know that I would buy it. Your friend, Linda – Kennesaw, GA
Thank you so much, Linda!
Claudia- Many congrats on coming so far in the blogging world. There is no lack of comments today! Thank you for sharing your life with all of us. I am your soul sister in love with antique stores, vintage finds, red shoes and furry kids.

Ah, you are a kindred spirit! Thanks so much, Dianne!
Claudia, thanks for being “out there”. I love reading your blog…
Thank you, Bonnie!
Congratulations Claudia,
I have come to really enjoy your blog. You certainly make me feel like I am sitting now with you and enjoy a cup of coffee. Thank you.
That’s just how I want you to feel, Rose – thank you!
Zilda
Muito obrigado, Zilda!
Well done Claudia. 6 years is quite the accomplishment.
Thank you, Linda!
I love your blog, Claudia! And I remember when we first met on Pink Saturday. I thought you were one of the nicest bloggers out there, and I loved your blue glasses and thought you had the kindest eyes and the sweetest smile. And I loved what you were doing at your cottage and your “voice”, the dogs, your collections, your favorite colors (which are mine, too), and your love for Don and his for you.
I miss those days as well. It was, indeed, more personal. We knew each other. Oh, and people who didn’t blog thought I was crazy to entertain people I had met online, but I knew and liked those same folks as much, if not more than people I had known for years. How does one explain this to non bloggers?
Happy Anniversary! I am so glad we met!
xo

Contrats Claudia, on your anniversary. I agree with you about blogging, and or versus Facebook. I just cannot get into it. It’s often a place for bickering and conflict…and I’m not into that. Winter will be over soon, and I know it’s been especially hard because of Don being absent. Hang in there Spring will show up! xoxo
Thank you Claudia for six years of sharing your life, your wonderful family and your beautiful home with us. Thank you for initiating so many wonderful conversations, and introducing us to books and movies we might not otherwise have known about. Thank you for the daily posts and photographs we look forward to and the commitment to respond to every comment. Thank you most of all for staying true to yourself and caring so much about your readership.
Dear Claudia, Right Back At Ya!
