I had another post scheduled in case we lost power but we didn’t, so I deleted it. Yesterday was a day full of dire warnings: a Winter Storm Warning, then later in the day it changed to Blizzard Warning. Anywhere from 10 to 20 inches was predicted. A state of emergency was issued.
Late in the day, our local guys – Hudson Valley Weather (who are the best) – started to say that there might be a sharp cut off point and some areas to the west might not get as much snow as predicted. They indicated where it might be with a sharp red line and I told Don that it looked like we were sitting right on that line.
This morning, after a night with no blizzard-like winds, we have about 5 or 6 inches of new snow – maybe less. It’s still snowing and will be for most of the morning. It’s definitely breezy out there, but I think we dodged a bullet.
We moved the snowblower to the porch yesterday, so it’s ready to go.
I really didn’t want ANY snow. What we already had on the ground from that huge storm a few weeks ago had melted significantly and I could see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Ah well. Today will be about shoveling and cleanup.
But goodness, it could have been so much worse.
I showed my crochet progress to Don this morning. He had requested a pop of red. I now have strict instructions to crochet one row of red, rather than two. I was already going to do that per our initial conversation at Michael’s. I love that Don has a vision for this. He’s pretty darned adorable.
Stay safe.
Happy Monday.

Here in North Jersey looks like about 7 or 8 inches and still snowing a bit. Not anywhere near what was predicted! But it’s enough for me.
I really like your afghan! I also knit and crochet but have limitations due to arthritis in my fingers and right shoulder. I spread out my needlework and it does eventually get done. And I love the pop of red!
Thanks so much, Judy.
Glad you’re okay in NJ!
Stay safe.
That’s sure looking great! You are doing a wonderful job.
Glad you didn’t get a blizzard and hope you stay safe.
Thank you, Ellen.
Stay safe.
Telling my husband that February has been a weird month weather wise. Sunday was wet and dreary with the rain coming down. And it was raining when we went to Sunday evening services. When it was time to go home, big flakes of snow was falling. We were not expecting snow. This morning woke up to most of the snow gone. That is one thing I appreciate about living where we are. The snow doesn’t linger. We had lived in Massachusetts and Ohio. Hope the snowy season has come to the end for you all. Crocheting was my first hobby. Been awhile since I have done any crocheting. I hope you find it relaxing. Been thinking about trying knitting.
I used to knit before I started crocheting. You should try it, Trina.
Stay safe.
glad you didn’t receive as much snow as was forecast. and that you didn’t lose power and were (are) ready. stay safe, especially when shoveling all that snow.
afghan is looking great. i, too, like that don has a vision in mind for it. :)
i have three appointments coming up (annual for eyes tomorrow and twice-yearly for bones next week, also taxes next week). ready to have them done. i very much like being home and being outside, not in somebody’s office! for now, though, walk is done and food is out for earl and the birds and that’s good. might make a big batch of my family’s favorite soup.
happy monday. stay safe!
kathy
Thanks so much, Kathy.
Stay safe.
So very glad that you all are safe/warm !– and, also that the crochet project is a joint effort!
Love you guys
Thank you, Regina!
Stay safe.
Hoping you don’t get lots more snow. I know you are so over it. Love the scarf and the pop of red is perfect. Take care and stay warm.
Thanks so much, Linda.
Stay safe.
That touch of red adds brightness. We are all ready for this winter to end. It’s been a winter like the ones I remember as a child. Spring, where art though! Stay cozy. Hugs, Elaine
Very much like my childhood winters!
Stay safe, Elaine.
I love that shade of red. Pleased the crocheting is going well. It’s a nice tv-watching craft. I’m working on a long-term cross-stitch project and keeping an eye on the stitching while keeping an eye on the screen is difficult for a new-to-me program so I tend to watch either old favorites or something new that doesn’t require concentration.
Yes, I can’t watch anything complicated when I’m stitching. I understand.
Stay safe, Wendy.
Yay for cutoff lines. Glad to hear you are not in the blizzard zone. 5-6 inches is enough.
Afghan looks like it’s moving along nicely. I think it’s delightful that Don cares so much about the afghan. Enjoy your day! ;)
Thank you so much, Donnamae.
Stay safe.
That pop of red — or hot pink — is fantastic!
I’m so glad you didn’t get the full-on snow. I know. Any snow is too much — but considering what it could have been, you’re on top!
It’s red.
We are over this winter!
Stay safe, Jeanie.
I love the colors. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
Thanks so much, Kay.
Stay safe.
PS Happy you didn’t get 20 inches of snow or lose power.
xo
Hi Claudia! We got way less snow than forecast as well. The storm was really strong to the southeast of Boston, but we are too far north and west so only got about five inches more snow and some wind. Whew! Don’t need any more snow right now! Haven’t seen the bare ground in months! Dreaming of my snowdrops somewhere under it all…. their time will come.
Your crochet looks really lovely and I’m sure Don has a good eye for what he wants. That cranberry is a luscious color especially in contrast with the darker hues. It reminds me of Scots plaids already. Enjoy the stitching (or crocheting) time!
Thanks, Betsy. Glad you didn’t get too much snow!
Stay safe.
Happy you dodged a bullet. The pictures look awful out there! It was 80 degrees here yesterday and I was out shopping for roses. Found my favorite one “Double Delight”, the most beautiful reds and whites and the most fragrant rose out there. So many of the new roses are beautiful but have no smell. Well, it’s almost March so spring won’t be that far off. My attempt at making you feel better. Stay warm!
Thanks so much, Deb.
Stay safe.
Congrats on missing the snow bullet, We weren’t so lucky…a tad under “38” inches!….finally our road was plowed late afternoon tuesday…enough with winter already! Need to see Daffodils!! The crocheting looks fantastic!
Oh my goodness! You really got walloped! I’m so sorry.
Stay safe and warm, Pati.
