On Wednesday, snow fell overnight and throughout the day. We always love the first snow, but boy, is it frigid here! I took this photo as soon as it became light. We had a wind advisory (the result of a clipper passing through) and once the winds kicked in, it was relentless. You know I don’t like heavy winds. We sit in a valley and the mountain range is quite close to us; the end result is rather like living in a wind tunnel.
After the sun came out. I think we got about 2 – 3 inches of wet snow. The high will only reach 30 today, so the snow will stick around for another day at least.
I’m already over it.
It’s still windy this morning and the sound of the wind chimes is driving me crazy.
But it’s pretty out there.
More in my Queen series:
Queen Holly.
Queen Pru.
Of all the girls, Pru seems to have the most changeable face. Depending on the angle, she can look very different from photo to photo. I spent quite a bit of time this morning trying to get the best angle for her photo. This was the last one taken and I like it the best.
Pru was customized by one of my favorite customizers, Dragonfly Blythe. Sadly, she is no longer customizing. In fact, Nina, my other Dragonfly Blythe, was one of the last dolls she customized. Now, her work is finite, therefore more desirable. I’m lucky I have two of her girls.
We’re staying home today. It’s really cold and windy. Bitter, actually.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

The first snow is pretty but it can quite quickly become tiresome. Still, I love the seasons and can’t imagine living anywhere else.
Enjoy your weekend and stay cozy!
Claudia says
Thank you, Ellen. You, too!
Stay safe.
Marilyn Schmuker says
There is something about your girls faces…they are very expressive. I think it’s those big eyes that really grab me.
We’ve got 5 or 6 inches of snow on the ground. We had lots of wind Wednesday night and more snow. The forcast is for 40° for the next several days and some rain so I hope most of it melts. I just want some snow on Christmas. I don’t really mind the cold weather but I feel a bit claustrophobic when the snow starts to pile up.
Stay warm and have a good weekend
Claudia says
I understand. I feel claustrophobic when it gets too cold outside to stay out there for any length of time.
Stay safe, Marilyn.

snow is beautiful as it falls and adds up (and in your photos), isn’t it? but, as much as i love snow, i only want so much, please!
not a fan of wind here, either. except when on a sailboat (which has happened only a sadly small handful of times in my life).
glad you have the girls, a crown they can share and other sweetness to balance things out.
hopefully the fabric for my oldest niece’s cross-stitch (2025) present will arrive tomorrow so i can get it started. hopefully, too, there will be time to read (“little women”, four chapters so far). don’t want to lose momentum! the best thing for me is spending time with members of my family … grateful!
happy, safe friday to everyone.
kathy

Thanks so much, Kathy.

I completely get that you’re over it, but the snow there is beautiful, and I wish we had some here! We just have the cold. Pru has the most amazing lips!! You’re so fortunate to have such a stunning collection of dolls.
Stay warm!!
Claudia says
You’ll have it soon enough Jenny!
Yes, Pru does have amazing lips. Ola, the customizer, is so gifted.
Thanks so much!
Stay safe.
Barrie says
Your photos are beautiful….but 30°, brrrr! Hope you warm up soon. The crown really is cute and perfect for the season. The trees are a perfect background. Enjoy the weekend!
Claudia says
Thanks so much, Barrie.
Have a good weekend.
Stay safe.

Your snow is lovely! Not too much, just enough. It’s green here…our snow doesn’t seem to last. But the wind is relentless….and it makes any warmer temperature seem irrelevant….wind chill.
The girls look so cute…Pru’s eyes match her dress, I’m sure that’s not a coincidence. Enjoy your day! ;)
Claudia says
It is a coincidence. I had them in a different position/color and changed them when I got ready to take the picture. Didn’t even think about what she had on.
Stay safe, Donnamae.
Chris says
Sometimes I wish I lived next door to you and Don so I could just pop in and say hello. Reading your blog is always like catching up with a friend. From your friend you’ve never met, Chris.
Claudia says
Aw, that’s so nice, Chris. Thank you.
Stay safe.

Love the snow against the blue sky. I agree snow can get pretty old, pretty fast. We have a skiff of snow and it is very cold. We went grocery shopping and NoFrills had butter on sale for $5.00 a pound. It’s usually closer to $8. What do you pay for butter, Claudia? We bought some to make our Christmas shortbread. Love Pru and Holly in their crowns. You’re certainly having fun with your $5 investment in whimsy. Stay warm. Hugs, Elaine
Claudia says
I’m not sure, as Don does a lot of the shopping. And we only use regular butter for baking. We use a different kind of vegan butter – Earth Balance – for everyday. It’s at least $6.00.
Stay safe, Elaine.
Kay in SE Wisconsin says
Such pretty “first snow” pictures. The little bit we had Wednesday is still hanging around. It can hang in there until the 26th and then melt away, as far as I’m concerned.
Our senior kitty has recovered from her UTI but now she has two good sized lumps on her lower abdomen. The vet did some testing and says it appears there’s just liquid and saw only normal amounts white and red blood cells. She did jump off the coffee table and bumped herself on the way down on Thanksgiving. Her latest thing is not getting all the way in the litterbox after over 20 yrs of no problems. When her doctor suggested “puppy pads” it was a game changer. These things just remind me she won’t be around for many more Christmases. I’m trying to snuggle with her on the couch as much as possible.
Take care,
Kay
Claudia says
Your poor girl! I remember those days of watching a beloved pet become frail. These are precious years, Kay. I know you know that.
Stay safe.
Kay in SE Wisconsin says
Very precious. I spend a lot of time cuddling with her and spoiling her. Last night I came home with part of my too big mushroom burger and cut some up for her. She loves people food and burgers are her favorite thanks to the boys feeding her under the table way back when they were still at home.
Discovered Costco sells puppy pads! So her little six pound self can miss the box as much as she wants now.

We rarely see snow here in Georgia. I wish we could have just a few inches. That first picture with the snow laying on the branches is beautiful. Stay warm!
Claudia says
Thank you, Leslie. It’s awfully pretty when it first falls.
Stay safe.

It’s bitter here, too — and a nasty wind so that wind chill seems excessively cold. We went to a holiday concert last night (a friend was singing) and it was downtown — lots of no-parking signs, which is ironic because NO ONE is downtown at night. The walk to the church, only a few blocks, felt frigid! The snow we got a few days ago definitely isn’t going anywhere, though Rick said he thought it might be 40 by the end of the weekend.
Company coming today — my friend from Canada — for a couple of days. I’m definitely not feeling all that well; that MRSA infection really kicked in and there was a delay in getting my medicine. Hopefully things will shape up over the next couple of days. Meanwhile, you two snug in and have a good weekend.
Claudia says
I hope you feel better soon, Jeanie. It’s hard to entertain when you’re not feeling well, but I’m sure your friend will understand. Hang in there.
Stay safe.
