Snow and No Snow

December 20, 2009 at 11:23 am by Claudia

Much of the East Coast was at a standstill yesterday – snow fell everywhere. Husband went out and bought more salt, stocked up a bit on necessities, while the Weather Channel kept increasing the amount of expected snowfall (8 inches.) When I went to bed around 11:00, there was still no sign of snow. I was prepared to wake this morning and see tons of snow on the ground.

There is less than an inch.

What happened? There seems to be a major discrepancy between the forecast and what I see out my window. Its funny how a major snow storm whips up a combination of dread and excitement. Part of me hates the thought of being snowed in, having to shovel my way out, scary road conditions, the whole thing….and the other part of me loves the idea of being snowed in, cozy in my cottage, hot chocolate in hand, cuddled up with my sweetie.

So, though I feel relief at the lack of snow, there is just the tiniest bit of disappointment. Just as well, though, as both husband and I are sick and I was up half the night coughing. Shoveling would have not been a good thing for either of us.

I have to shop tomorrow. Have to. So let’s tell this bug to leave the premises effective immediately.

Happy Sunday!

It’s just chilly here. I love the idea of being cozy in my warm house with the elements nothing but a pretty scene through my window.

Hope you get some snow. Stay safe and warm. I love the snow when it falls so very quietly. I love the look of it all over the yard in Grass Valley but I hate driving in it!!!!

    Have fun shopping.

Claudia, You were right! We got slammed with snow here along the coast. It took my husband a couple of hours to shovel, so you are better off with just a smidge, especially since you’re still under the weather. Feel better soon!

awww…I get disappointed too when we are expecting snow and nothing happens. We got a doozie dumped on us, very unusual for Va….24 inches! I hope you are feeling better!
    Merry Christmas!

    bug: leave the premises IMMEDIATELY!

    how’s that?

well, it is a beautiful winter wonderland around here but it quite daunting to see all the shoveling we had to do. my guys are out sledding right now but i chose to stay in and be on-call for hot chocolate. just not feeling it today.

hope you are feeling better. i love your little vignette.

I know the feeling exactly, but when it snows I don’t drive. We ARE from California, ya know, chick! I stay off the roads till they are clear for OTHERS protection—not mine. I love snow and I hate snow!! ;-)

I totally agree! I need my bug to leave too as I spend most of my night coughing still. So glad I haven’t had to get out into this winter mess yet. I still have shopping to do, so hopefully will be able to go out soon. I pray you and hubby will be all well for Christmas! ♥

Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that you still aren’t feeling well, Claudia. I hope things will be better soon. I just talked to Beth, for 3 hours on the phone. They have the snow. “16-20 inches of it, and she’s caught a bug too.

    Your decorating is so pretty!

We got lots of the white stuff here, Claudia. I think it came up the coast more than inland. Love your little putz village. And I do hope you are feeling much, much better since you have to battle the stores tomorrow… Donna

It sounds like the weatherman failed again! Mother Nature is just too darned smart to be kept track of. I do hope you get to feeling better soon, it sounds like you have that icky stuff that hangs around a while. Hope you fell up to shopping and good luck facing the crowds!

I hope you are feeling better. I know what you mean about the storm forcasts. I feel the same way about enjoying being snuggled up warm and cozy inside while it is snowing and blowing outside. Maybe being snowed in forces us to stop and relax a bit. Happy shopping. Blessings!

Sorry you are still sick ((((())))

It is better the weather forecasters were wrong rather than right though :-)

There is loads of snow here…on top of the mountains just where I like it. I can sit here and gaze at it’s prettiness through the window and not have to worry about the cold. We hit mid 70’s the last few days…seems wrong for almost Christmas. Still I’d rather be living her then MN :-)

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
