The only time that Scout looks less than pure white is when she is in the snow. Oh, that girl loves some snow! She frolics, pounces and runs around like a crazy dog.
Happy New Year everyone! I have to share a little story with you. Yesterday morning, we woke to a light snow fall. It was truly beautiful. Husband was going on and on about how beautiful it was, what a wonderful day it was…you get the picture. He was in a great mood! Later, we went out and shoveled and husband took the car to the grocery store to stock up on some items. In the meantime, I called Heidi and was chatting with her. Husband arrived back home and came toward the kitchen door holding 4 or 5 bags. As is my custom, I opened the door and took the bags from him so that I could unload them. Husband turned back toward the car, presumably to shut the car door. Still talking to Heidi, I turned away to deal with the bags. When I turned back to the door, I saw my just under 6’5″ husband lying on his back in the snow, with a grin on his face. I was amazed and happy to see that his delight in the winter weather had led him to make a Snow Angel. I’d never seen him do this before! What a lovely, childlike thing for Don to do! All of this was happening while Heidi was talking away on the other end of the line. Then I saw Don get up and he was limping. What??? I opened the door and asked him what happened? Instead of making a snow angel, he had fallen on the ice and was grimacing in pain and embarrassment. I quickly hung up the phone and helped him in the house. His ankle had been twisted, but will be fine. When I explained to him that I thought he had been making a Snow Angel, he shook his head in disbelief and, eventually, laughter. We became rather giggly at the absurdity of the whole thing.
As the day went on, the more we thought of the “Snow Angel” story, the more we laughed. By the time I told the story to my sister, I was laughing so hard I could barely get it out without gasping for air! And that kind of laughter is wonderful, isn’t it?
So, if you can, go out and make a Snow Angel today and think of my husband when you’re doing it!

I am still laughing about the snow angel story, because when you were describing it that is exactly what I thought he was doing! Happy New Year, glad your 2009 ended up with lots of laughter.

What a delightful story my friend…I am so glad your husband did not hurt himself too bad. Laughter is so important to us all…thank you for that reminder. I will make sure I do just that today at some point!
Connie says
Ours would probably be a slush/rain angel in the depleting snow banks, honey! Hah.
A similar thing happened to Jack about 16 years ago. Slipped on the ice while trying to help a mom about to give birth. HE fell and cracked some ribs! Couldn’t move “quickly” for months. But I just stood there laughing at him because he looked like a baby bird as he was trying to get air into his lungs. I’ll never forget that look on his face.
xoxo,
Connie

Laughing is good for the soul. So glad that Don is okay! Happy New Year to both of you! I’ve had my black eyed peas for the day (couldn’t get hubby to eat any)so looking forward to a great year. Our snow here in south central Kansas is all but gone. Plenty of good temps though. Stay warm!
Claudia says
Oops! Meant to say COLD temps. That’s what I get for not proof reading!

Happy New Year, Claudia! What a cute story. I’m afraid the only type of angel I could make is a sand angel, and I think that might be a tad gritty! Ewwww! ;-)
Hoping that your DH’s ankle is okay and that both of you and Scout enjoy the beautiful winter landscape. Hope you are feeling better too, sweet friend. From the sound of this post, you are! YEA! :-)
Rich blessings abounding to you and yours throughout the year to come and always…
Happy 2010!
XO,
Sheila :-)

I forgot to tell Scoutie she is the most beautiful girl, I know she already knows that but a girl never hears it enough!

i’m laughing. my husband did the same thing last week and slipped on the ice…twice!!! he is a florida boy, so he must remember to tread softly on the ice! i laughed when he wasn’t looking, but i knew how made it made him to fall.
what is it about growing a little older and trying to act like a kid in the snow and getting hurt?? i went snow flying with zoey on a tiny hill by the house and hurt my hips. wha?
hope your husband’s ankle gets better soon before the next snowfall…cuz the world needs as many snow angels as it can get!!!
take care

No snow here. But last week, when my husband was visiting his grown daughters in Oklahoma, which got hit heavy, he fell on the ice too. Seems to be okay now. Hope your hubby didn’t do any damage except maybe to his pride!
