Day 4 of rain and fog. I think we’re heading out of this weather pattern later today. Fingers crossed.
The *%*#show continues in Washington, DC, where we are being held hostage by the same people who incited and supported the insurrection, which took place two years ago today. I was sort of half watching yesterday – as was Don – and I finally had to say ‘No More.’ It was ludicrous and disgusting at the same time and I felt it taking its toll on my state of mind.
I finished reading the newest by Michael Connelly and returned it to the library. I started another book but I’m not sure I’m the mood for it. I’ll give it another chance later today. I also have to keep in mind that I’ll be commuting to NYC next week so I want whatever I’m reading to be light and portable.
A bit of a sigh here; I think I’m in the holiday letdown part of the month, where all the lights and magic are gone (save for our outdoor lights, they’re still up) and I’ve returned to daily worries about all sorts of things, including money and work and the future and friends who are ill. I’m sure I’m no different than anyone else – we’re so grateful when there’s something that takes us away from all of that – like Christmas. Or the movie premiere, in my case.
Speaking of that, I want to thank everyone who has watched Spoiler Alert. Some of you wrote to me, either on this blog or via an email, and your praise for my work means the world to me. I’ve been fortunate enough to have a lot of opening nights in my career, including two on Broadway – four, if you count Don’s – but coaching the movie and getting the chance to appear in it? The biggest deal of my career. So, thank you. I hope more of you get the chance to see it in the future. It’s such a wonderful movie. Don is crazy about it and he’s pretty picky. Yes, some of that is about me, but more than that, he thinks it’s wonderfully acted and directed and loves the story.
Okay. Time to do some laundry and chores.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

Claudia, I was thinking the same thing about the holiday letdown. Neighbors have their lights up still, which I’m enjoying, but the holiday excitement is gone…well, the stores already have Valentine’s Day things out, so there’s that! We’re getting a day to dry out before more rain…so errands are on the to-do list today!
Claudia says
Have a good day, Barrie!
Stay safe.

Yup, yup, and yup. Rain/gloom/politics. I’ll start taking down Christmas tomorrow — we’re having friends for Twelfth Night dinner. But I’ll leave a few lights for the sparkle and the winter tree and red/white mini-tree that will convert to valentine’s day (well, it already looks that way — nothing “seasonal,” just colorful. I have to leave that or I’d go nuts.
Once I get that settled, I’m dropping cable and adding some streaming and I’ll finally be able to get your film. I’m so looking forward to it!
Claudia says
I’d love to find an old feather tree that I could leave up and decorate all year long.
Stay safe, Jeanie.

agreeing with you about everything but the rain (i love it and clouds and gray-blanketed skies). hope you get some sunshine today.
hoping to see your movie soon, claudia! maybe monday when i have an appointment to get my car’s oil changed and a headlight replaced.
glad you have things like books and work to help fight the post-holiday blahs. don, too, of course! and i like the idea of leaving outdoor lights on through winter (love to see that around here, like a gift people give themselves and their neighbors).
hope everyone has a good day today. stay safe, too!

Claudia says
It definitely is, Linda.

I believe I am at a stage in life when I just don’t mind the weather…even when I lived in Indiana. I don’t worry about things because most of the things I worried about through the years never happened. Now I do become stressed over family matters that happen. . My life is just calm. And I am just blessed to be an elderly woman. I believe this comes with aging and of course, my faith. Let me say there have been some times in my life, tragedies, bad decisions, and other things when I could never say this. I have lived through so much. I am always here for my family and friends. I am a mentor to several and that is good for me too. I am always learning. I am so proud to know you and am so excited for you to begin your new project. What a talented person you are and I am privileged to be a part of your journey. You are amazing.

I’m a worrier by nature. I used to lie awake and worry at the age of 4. Some things are just a part of us, I’m afraid.
Stay safe, my friend.

Sometimes I catch my breath when I acknowledge I am elderly. Ladies it has gone too quickly.
Claudia says
It does, Brenda. And frankly, it scares me.
Much love.

I guess Spoiler Alert isn’t going to come to our local theater. I will definitely watch it on Prime soon.

Thanks, Kay.
