Some Treasures & a Swap

January 27, 2010 at 7:05 am by Claudia

A week or so ago my friend, Debra, at Common Ground did a post about her space at Spring Creek. While looking at all the photos of her lovely things, I spied something that I had to have. I commented and asked Debra about this treasure. Long story short, we struck a deal and today it arrived.

Debra wrapped it so prettily, didn’t she? Okay, okay, I’ll open it!

Oh gosh darn it, forgive the reflection of my Kansas sweatshirt (given to me by a former student who went to KU undergrad and perfect for me because my brother-in-law was on the football team there.) Don’t you just love this beautiful old print? The collie has found the lost lamb. Dogs, sheep, lambs – I love them. The frame is old and beautiful. The only reason Debra could part with this is because she has one of her very own. By the way, Debra has a gorgeous home. I got to know her through Vintage Black Fridays and was amazed by all of her wonderful vignettes. Thank you, Debra – and thank you for the box it was shipped in. I promptly recycled it to ship out my part of this swap:

Now, I am very new to the swap business. This swap is all hearts – pink, white or red – everything has to have a heart on it or be in the shape of a heart. The only other swap I’ve done was with sweet Elyse. We called it a mini swap. I am not a crafter like so many of you talented bloggers. I stand in awe of your skill. Most of the things I included were vintage. I did, however, step out of my comfort zone and tried a bit of crafting. I’ll share photos with you after my package has been received.

While searching for vintage hearts, I found this for our kitchen:

It’s old and rusty – but look at that bakelite handle! Totally unexpected and totally wonderful!

Thank you for all your advice as to my bulletin board – so many fabulous suggestions! I still haven’t decided what to do – most likely I will make another one. Then I’ll have 2 – and the freedom to have a piece of art and an inspiration board. Thank you, friends.

Have a wonderful day.

    Good Morning Claudia Sweetie…
Oh I love the picture. No wonder it was your little heart’s desire. It is truly beautiful. We had a collie, and they are so protective. What a beautiful photo. Where did you end up hanging it?

I can’t wait to see what you sent. I know it will be beautiful because you have so much beauty surrounding you, and what is this? You aren’t crafty? I have seen some mighty beautiful things you have shared sweetie. Most recently your bulletin board, and I loved your chalk board. You are much craftier than you think, and yes you even inspire us.

Thank you for sharing sweetie. I love to come and see what you are up to each day.

Have a beautiful day. Country hugs and much love, Sherry

I’d love to have that little flour canister, chick! Darling and RED. Yep, I’m always careful to not get “ME” in the picture when photographing glass. Hard to do sometimes though.

Hi Claudia…How’s my girl with the blu glasses?…
Your swap photo was wonderful…I can see why you love it.
I was catching up with you this morning and your sheet music bulliten board is great. Years ago my daughter and I covered a whole wall behind our piano with old music we had collected from vintage shops…It was a fun day wallpapering that wall with music.
    Your four bin find=awsome., xoxo~Kathy @ Sweet Up-North Mornings…

    And your flour-box looks pretty & pretty-old!

Lovely to come across your blog and see all the delights of your cottage. I LOVE that image, I adore lambs, I remember as a child helping on the sheep farm next door to my Granny’s. I would help heard all the sheep and feed the orphan lambs :) Hugs, Catherine x

Hi Claudia, I am finally down to my last pinkie visit. Being gone on a Saturday is hard on the visiting process. However, I try to visit if I can. I scrolled down to your darling pink doll house chair. I too have a doll house that has been put away for a very long time. It is time I got it out and redo the rooms. I have a box of doll house furniture I haven’t see in years. sigh.

I do love your vintage print and the wonderful red flour bin. I agree the handle is a surprise. I too love the old vintage treasures.

    Have a wonderful day.
    Hugs, Jeanne

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
