Sophie Day

February 20, 2022 at 9:59 am by Claudia

It was insane out there yesterday. Cold. Then crazy snow squalls. (I kept getting warning alerts on my phone that scared the crap out of me.) Then crazy wind throughout the rest of the day and night.

It’s cold this morning, but no wind – just a breeze. And sunny.

I’m over winter.

So I declared the day to be “Sophie Day.” It started with me thinking that she would look good in a dress I had. So I pulled her off the shelf and dressed her in this creation from mamzelle.lylou on IG.

I captioned it by saying she was off to find a quiet place to read – and to get some privacy away from her sisters.

Then, because she was so darned cute, I added this hat that I received long ago:

Stop. She’s so adorable!

Then, the mail came and there was a tiny package that I’d been waiting for. Sophie got to be the first to model these:

Reading in her quiet place.

And because I absolutely love her in these glasses, I took yet another picture:

I do believe I’ve found her look! The glasses seem to define her in a wonderful way. She is the oldest girl; bookish and thoughtful. I didn’t remove the glasses; she’s still wearing them. And I love it.

I also did some work on the puzzle and finished Slow Horses. Excellent! I’ve just started the next book in the series, Dead Lions.

And we watched Pairs Figure Skating, which was extraordinary. Stunningly talented skaters. Such beauty.

Today? I’m not sure. My back is feeling better, but I’m being very careful. I need to put a coat of sealer on the dollhouse but I don’t want to contort my body so that will have to wait. Reading, certainly, and I suspect one of the girls will be forced to wear a new outfit.

And the puzzle, of course.

Stay safe.

Happy Sunday.

We had that same high wind, snow squall warnings on Friday night. Very unnerving to say the least. Today…sunny, and a high of 49 is predicted…so a drive is on the docket.

I do like those glasses on Sophie…very chic! Enjoy your day! ;)

      Thanks, Donnamae!

We have warmish temperatures and then cold again with snow and ice on Friday. Sigh.

      Stay safe.

Sophie Day sounds perfect! She is adorable and I love the glasses. I’m reading lots these days. I had the best time with my family last night. We celebrates Sara and John’s(her Dad) birthdays and just enjoyed some great family time. Cheered me up and I needed that. Mom is doing ok after her pacemaker replacement just very tired. Enjoy some more outfit changes today and take photos, they are so stinkin cute!

I’m so glad you had a good time with the family, Linda. Much needed, I’m sure.

      Stay safe.

I had a feeling you were going to get some crazy weather. I love all of your outfits, but you know what I love best? Their shoes! So adorable! On another note… my sister lived on Vista St. in Kensington. Just pretend you are on the beach in SD. We are up in Prescott to get away and relax a little bit. Tonight we have tickets to see the band Chicago. So excited. So much of their music reminds me of when Bill and I started dating. Okay stay warm and spring will be here before we know it, right?!😂

Vista was not far from our house.

I saw Chicago in concert in their heyday. Fantastic! Enjoy.

      Stay safe, Deb.

    Wow, your weather is weird!

The eyeglasses are such a darling accessory.

I was concerned to wake up this morning to the news that Her Majesty Elizabeth, Queen of England, has Covid. She’s been so careful for two years, in her ‘HMS Bubble’; thankfully she’s vaccinated with the best of doctors at hand. Prayers for her; she’s so old for this. I happen to adore her.

Every day, sometimes more than once a day, I drive by this pop-up testing site for Covid; it’s a cool little cube, cool meaning clever (but they do have, coincidentally, some kind of cooler like air conditioning in it, since our SoCalif days have been really warm in past weeks). It’s got windows, a counter with chairs inside; then they put up a slick tent top that collapses and condenses so easily right next to this little cube; rather fascinating to watch the efficiency of all this! Sometimes I see as many as three uniformed workers in it. But, I’d say for at least a week, I never see any ‘customers’. Today when they were closing up for the day, I chatted for a few minutes from the car. I said, “I know you’re not getting any takers but thank you for doing this!” The one gal said to me, “Well, you know, everybody thinks all is well now because the mask mandate is lifted; they think the pandemic is over; so, no reason to get tested anymore.” I said, “I hate to be a doomsday-er and I’m no health expert, but I fear this is premature; that we’re in for another rude awakening.” She said, “You bet. I may be out of this job later this week; maybe we’ll be closing out this testing site ‘permanently’ for awhile, but I’m not confident about it; I think we’ll be back.”

Of course they will be back. Not that I want it that way, but you can see the writing on the wall.

I suppose everyone is concerned. But she only has mild symptoms and I suspect she’ll come through it okay. She’s very strong.

      Stay safe, Vicki.

    Those glasses!!!! So cute!

We had those Squall Warnings all through Friday evening. Our phones & Alexa’s kept blasting those pitchy tones. Crazy. We had never had Squall Warnings before that. Today near 50* & tomorrow nite is ice. ugh.

Yes, a bit worried about the Queen having Covid at 95. Hopefully being vaccinated & boosted will help her. Scary. Hope your day is going well. Take care.

I never used to get those warnings and they scare me! The squall itself was quite scary and it lasted a long time.

      Stay safe, Chris.

    Those glasses!!! <3 <3 <3
Exact same weather pattern in NW CT yesterday . The squall started in the Brookfield Joann's parking lot. I needed a couple more fat quarters of Harry Potter fabric for my grandson's quilt. Wind continued all night. Fortunately, my husband had volunteered to be my chauffeur so I did not have to drive home.. Snow driving is not my thing even with 4 WD.
Ready for spring but much too early.

Our squall was much bigger than ones I’ve seen in the past. No wonder they gave a warning!

      Stay safe, Betsy.

I love the glasses, too. Like Deb in Phoenix, it’s been the shoes that usually fascinate me. I’m not typically much of a shoe person. I graduated from needing a cane about five years ago, but heels are still mostly out for me. Then, I buy vegan shoes and handbags and that obviously limits my choices. However, I’m just so intrigued at how these shoemakers for these dolls manipulate those stiffer shoe components in the way they do.

Hope your back soon feels better.

I don’t know how they do it either! Such detail.

My back is a lot better.

      Stay safe, Linda.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
