Spoiler Alert, Critters, and the Girls

June 17, 2023 at 8:46 am by Claudia

First up: Spoiler Alert  is now streaming on Amazon Prime. Hopefully, that means everywhere, but I can’t say that for sure. I had a message on Instagram the other day from my friend Kate. Kate is the daughter of my childhood friend, June. June died very suddenly when Katie was only two years old. You might remember that Kate contacted me a few years ago and we arranged a meeting in NYC. She wanted to talk to someone who had known her mother well. She started crying the moment she saw me. It was one of the most powerful and emotional experiences of my life.

Kate messaged me to say that she’d finally seen me in Spoiler Alert. She’d taken a picture of me in my scene. These messages mean so much to me, you have no idea. They touch my heart. And to have it come from June’s daughter! June was extremely talented, a gifted musician, extremely intelligent, and a true friend (she taught special needs children as an adult.) She was always a big supporter of me and my work in the theater. To know that Katie saw me act on screen is kind of a full circle moment.

I love you, June. I miss you. Your daughter is simply spectacular.

Seen yesterday in the area right outside our living room window: a rabbit, the big groundhog (unrelated to the young brood, as far as I know) who lives under the shed, one of the little ones who always visits in the late afternoon and hangs out by the tree, lots of birds (including a seldom seen thrush), and a little baby bunny. The baby’s presence scared off the big groundhog!

Girls update:

Harper in a summer dress.

Holly, who had been wearing a winter coat, insisted on wearing a summer dress, as well.

And Lily is taking a nap.

She has no eyelids, so you’ll just have to accept that she’s sleeping.

It rained a lot yesterday, which was much needed. There are catalpa flowers scattered everywhere. But there are still a lot of blossoms on the tree, so we get to see her all dressed up in white flowers for a bit longer.

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday.

june passed on so young! condolences. i am sure june was/is pleased about that meet-up for her daughter and you. i’m happy for you and kate to have had that time together, too.

glad you got some rain and still have blossoms on the catalpa.

and that you saw so many animals in your yard yesterday!

on a ride yesterday, we stopped the car in a safe/easily visible spot on a very quiet country road to look at some cows. there were a couple dozen of them quite close to the road (there was a fence) and even in the heat, the cows were all literally shoulder-to-shoulder; that’s one reason we stopped. a small baby practically bolted towards the fence, as if to say “hello” or at least get a better view to see us, too … but one loud, low “moo” from the mama or papa brought it quickly back to the herd. sweet. :)

okay. today is actually saturday … so the day matches my feeling of what day it is … haha! a lot of things done yesterday so am taking it easy this morning. also, we have pretty good chances of rain today and tomorrow. :)

happy saturday to everyone. stay safe!

oh … saw a headline (so don’t know details) that said paul mccartney plans to use ai/artificial intelligence to create ‘one last song for the beatles’. am wondering what don thinks of that (if he’d like to share).

Haven’t talked to him about it, but neither of us are fans of AI, we’re increasingly alarmed at its potential for harm. (Not that Paul would be doing that.)

      Stay safe, Kathy.

i’ve heard some about ai … the vast majority of it not good (like you, i’m also not accusing paul mccartney about doing anything wrong).

off to focus on happier things.

hope you are having a nice night.

What a wonderful story. It’s so good you’re still in touch with the daughter of your childhood friend. I’ll have to check Prime to add the movie to my list. Excited to finally see it.

Enjoyed some warmth sitting outside finally with temps in the 70’s today here on Covid Island. I remember my niece early last year testing positive for two whole weeks. Sure hope I don’t have the same luck.

    Take care,
    Kay

Have you been able to retest yet, Kay. I love that you call it “Covid Island.” Here’s hoping you get off that island real soon!

      Stay safe.

Since Dean came down with it at least four days before I did, we’re having him retest first. Today he’s still positive, darn!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
