I woke up too early today and then found my brain suddenly full of worried thoughts – flitting back and forth from one worry to another. Of course, every worried thought is a projection, a ‘what if’…and before long they take over and you realize that you are certainly not living in the moment. I’ve always been a worrier. When I was a little girl I would lie awake at night worrying about school or what happens when I die or would I be picked last for a team in gym class. I’ve managed to let much of the chronic worrying go as I’ve grown older, but if I’m not careful…it can erupt again.
The sun has come out. That helps. And writing about it to my dear blogging friends helps. Thanks for being there.
On to Square #4:
I did this late last evening and it truly was free form. I hope it is recognizable as a lavender bird sitting on a branch. I was playing with satin stitch. These tiny squares are playing havoc with my eyes. I had to resort to a stronger pair of magnifiers – threading the needle is so much harder for me nowadays than in my youth. Now I have to figure out today’s square…
When our dogs go out the door to their ‘corral’ they go uphill on a little path. Currently, the path is plain old mud because we’ve had so much snow melt. Every time the dogs came in, their paws were covered in mud. Husband went out and bought some shredded straw yesterday and the path now has a layer of straw over the mud. Less mud = more vacuuming, as the little bits of straw are all over the kitchen. That’s all I can see – straw – everywhere. Off to vacuum.
Have a great day.

i was too a worrier in my youth, still do sometimes but as I’ve gotten older it’s certainly gotten better. with age comes wisdom!

Sweet little lavender bird! I had to chuckle when you talked about your struggle to thread the needle! I have to take my glasses off to be able to see to thread a needle. I am near sighted, so I can see just fine up close, but I need strong glasses to see far away… YOu can imagine what a mess those glasses make to the things I do up close… so I take them off to read and to sew. :-) Sigh, getting older is so much fun.

Claudia, your stitchery project is adorable. I cannot wait to see it all done. Love the birdie.
I completely understand about the doggy messes. Man, if only they could wear shoes. Our dogs rub their scottie beards on my cream berber carpet and along the skirt of the couches. This is why white furniture is out of the pic. ha.
Worrying….a terrible thing! I get what you mean. I worried about the same things! Youth….if only we knew then what we know now. ha!

Ah, Claudia, you struck a cord with me, that’s me, a WORRY WART, always have been ever since I was a little girl!!! For a while there in my 20s it seemed to have lessened but it’s back with a vegence . . . .
Yep, I know about doggie messes too . . sadly this year we only have four paws to worry about . . . and Kodak is notarious for stepping in his own tootsie rolls so I have to be very diligent about picking it up . . .
I’m enjoying seeing your progress on your squares. It’s coming along beautifully!!
((Hugs))

We all have “those day”, Claudia, when the nighttime thoughts take over. Just relax, say a little prayer, and you’ll find you will feel better! And your square a day embroidery looks great…keep up the good work…you are an inspiration.

Good Morning Sweet Claudia…
I so enjoyed your post today. I have a little worry wart grand daughter also. I know first hand where you are coming from.
I have so enjoyed your embroidery project. The nice thing about is, you can do a little square a day. That is do able, not like a big project you never get anywhere with. You stitches are just beautiful sweetie. Just beautiful. I thank you so much for sharing with me. I can’t wait to see it finished.
Speaking of which, how is your doll house coming along? Everytime I see one, I think of you. Keep us posted.
Have a beautiful day sweetie. Many thanks…Sherry

I try not to worry, but like you, sometimes it just takes over. I am much better than I used to be. My mom is the queen of worriers. Even now in the midst of all this confusion the overwhelming emotion is WORRY!! She is constantly worried about “all those little kids who are running around the nursing home needing their bottoms wiped, etc….”
I love your squares. Somehow, I missed seeing the third one until now. I love willow trees. Of course, I knew that was a bird sitting on a branch. You don’t give yourself enough credit!
I don’t guess there’s a chance of teaching those dogs to wipe their feet, huh? The worst part of snow is the melting, I’d say!

hi claudia,
my demented mind immediately thinks of the film, the ten commandments, with the hebrew slaves having to move their legs through mud and straw to make bricks! oy! (it’s actually one of my fave films — the one with c. heston — so cheesy but so awesome)
gosh, i used to have thoughts like that all the time growing up. it still can happen from time to time. it’s so nice that blogging is a 24-7 activity!
your lavender bird is so cute! i was thinking you might do a bird next. and i hear you about threading those needles. ah, youth!
pick you up for breakfast at 9? (well, hopefully someday)

I’m a worrier too. I’ve resigned worrying about being a worrier. If I don’t have anything to worry about I start worrying about other people. I just have to give up and throw my in the air, I’m never going to change.lol
Sorry, I’m not much of a help,lol

My mama used to call me the ‘hand-wringer’, and I do still worry alot. With 6 kids it’s hard not to, but I think I’m getting better as I get older too.
LOVE the embroidery squares you are doing….they just make me happy to look at!

Claudia, thanks for bringing this up. I am a worrier. I never worried in my youth, but I am making up for it big time now. Sometimes I think it is becoming a hobby of mine. Not good.

Ah the joys of owning pets! Your lavender bird square looks sweet, what a pretty color, it looks like you’re enjoying it despite the vision issue.

I too am a worrier and it wakes me up at night and I can’t go back to sleep!
Funny about the mud and straw…you are lucky…only two dogs…I have seven! Lots of mud, dust bunnies, and work, but always fun and they keep me laughing…when I’m not worrying about them! LOL
