We had a spectacular sunset last night.
You can see the mountains in this shot.
It changed from second to second, so I took lots of pictures.
My camera is a source of comfort to me. It grounds me and pulls me out of my head and into the present.
I slept in today. For the first time since I flew to Florida, I feel like I got a healthy chunk of sleep time. I’m also dealing with a sinus thing – not surprising, given the stress that’s been ongoing.
I don’t quite know what to do with myself. I try to read, and I do, but losing myself for an hour in the pages of a book is hard. I clean – that seems to help, as it gives me a specific task to do. Mostly, I take it easy, as prescribed by my husband. And I watch reruns of Frasier, because it makes me laugh.
I received two packages in the mail yesterday and I’ll share them with you tomorrow.
Happy Tuesday.
Debbie Price says
It’s okay to take it easy. Listen to Don. :) Pet Scout.
Wrapping you in hugs,
Deb
Claudia says
Thank you, Debbie.

I just lost a brother-in-law so I have some idea of what you’re going through.

My condolences, Sue. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Do take it easy Claudia — you are entitled. Sometimes it’s hard when you are not accustomed to taking it easy. From my own experience, it took me several months to get back to “normal” (or some semblance of it) after my Dad passed away. Your birthday and the upcoming holidays will be hard, but just let Don and Scout wrap you in their hugs and know that you are loved and cared for by so many of us out here as well.
Your sunset pictures are gorgeous! We are in the November grey zone…drizzles and light rain, no sun to speak of for a day or two.
I remember someone commenting on your blog (or Just Let Me Finish This Page) about the novels by Elly Griffiths. I, too, highly recommend them. I finished the first (“The Crossing Places”) in the series yesterday and started the second (“The Janus Stone”) last night.
Wishing you comfort and peace, along with fond and happy memories of times with your parents.
Claudia says
I am definitely not accustomed to taking it easy, Vera. It isn’t easy for me to be still and quiet, but I find myself having to do both those things. Thank you for your kind words.
Linda @ A La Carte says
Claudia, this is a hard time I know but your body and mind need rest. Just let yourself heal. It’s not the same, but with my back hurt I’m sitting on this sofa looking at this and that and thinking I need to do something…but I know I will only heal if I rest, same to you. Find things like walks and taking photos that feed your soul. Sweet hugs to you.
Linda
Claudia says
Hugs to you, too, Linda. Feel better, my friend.
Judy Clark says
Gorgeous photos.

Claudia says
Thank you, Judy.
Sue says
What a beautiful sunset you captured!
We love Frasier also. Don’t you think it was the most brilliantly casted sit-com ever aired? No matter how many times we watch the reruns it continues to make us laugh.
I hope each day bring a bit more peace and healing for you.
Claudia says
Ever.
Thank you, Sue.
Chris K in Wisconsin says
Reruns of Frasier can be the answer to so many things…… a brilliant show! I think Don was in a couple of episodes, too, wasn’t he??
It is true that you need rest. Your physical and mental self are at odds at this point in time… they need some time to catch up and find each other again! Rest is an answer for sure. But, oh, so hard to do! If only there was a recipe to follow to get through this process… an easier way to get through the maze. But there isn’t a “one way fits all” method, so you are doing it your way, and that is the right way.
The pictures are lovely! Autumn skies at sunset are amazing, aren’t they? I wonder if it is because the trees are now bare and the sky is more visible in ways we haven’t seen for a while.
I hope your day is peaceful, Claudia. I think that is the best wish I can send to you today. ?
Claudia says
He was. He’s acted with Kelsey on stage and on Frasier.
I think you’re right. Everyone has to follow their own path when it comes to grieving. Thanks, Chris.
Betsy says
I agree with Don. Take it easy. I know from times in my own life, even this summer with the pacemaker surgery, I couldn’t concentrate enough to read or even knit and crochet. My concentration was shot. I needed to just “be”. Hard for me, but that was what I needed and I suspect you do too. I’m praying for you and Meredith every. single. day.
Blessings,
Betsy
Claudia says
I’m going to try for some crochet today, Betsy. Wish me luck!
EMichle Machala says
Claudia, I would love to talk to you about a dog food that is working wonders on the senior dogs. So please email if you are interested!
Claudia says
Thanks for the offer, but she has to be on special food and has been on that food for years. She’s almost 17 and we just want to make her as comfortable as possible now. But thank you.
Wendy TC says
Hope the rhythm of crocheting helps you, Claudia. I find crochet and knitting to be hypnotic. Put on some favorite music (Don’s!) too. I had immersed myself in settling my late husband’s estate so I was super-busy, organized and focused in the months following his death. Now, I know it was just the way I thought I could cope.
Claudia says
I just listed a scarf in the Etsy shop and will add this one I’m working on when I’m finished. It is enormously comforting, Wendy. xo
Nancy Blue Moon says

Claudia says
It helped, that’s for sure, Nancy. Thank you.
Susan Swartz says
Laughter truly is the best medicine. It releases those good endorphins they say. Take care. Glad you are surrounded by those you love and who love you!
Claudia says
More Frasier on the docket for tonight, Susan. And pizza!
Amy at love made my home says
I always remember something in times of stress that I read in a book years ago. It went something like cleaning the silver when you are worried is a good thing to do, at the end of the day you are still worried, but your silver is clean. Quoted terribly like me, but I find it to be so true and useful. I do pottering things and although I am still anxious or worried or whatever, at least I have done something and been occupied in the meantime. I guess that is what you are doing right now. Sorry, that is all terribly explained! Hope you know what I mean!! xx
Claudia says
I absolutely do know what you mean. Thank you, Amy!
Susie says
Claudia, Thinking of you. Glad you enjoyed your beautiful sunset. I did too. I just walked the driveways…as the air is cool and feels good on my face. I love Frasier reruns too. Even my granddaughter likes the different beginning with Frasier’s name and the Seattle skyline. Holding you in my prayers, xoxo,Susie
Claudia says
I guess, Don told me this, that the colors used on “Frasier” in the titles change from season to season. Who knew? Thank you, Susie.
Janet McMahon says
Beautiful pictures. It’s good to find beauty around us and to take pleasure from it. Wishing you well.
