Tell Me I’m Dreaming

3-21 friggin snow

Did you think I accidentally reposted our Christmas photo?

Oh, silly you. You would be mistaken. I took this just yesterday. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen it, but I thought it was worth sharing on this second day of spring.

If I was inclined to despair, this could definitely send me over the edge. But I’m not. So, though I am not necessarily a happy camper, I do know that it will melt rather quickly.

Perhaps I could get an extension cord and plug in my blow dryer to help it along?

Even Scout looked disgusted. We’ve been promising her that the big corral will be open for business very soon and this isn’t helping.

The snow didn’t start until early afternoon, so Don decided we needed some donuts. Not just any donuts, but donuts from a tiny little local shop located in the same complex as our antique shop. It’s called Dohnut and boy oh boy, has it spoiled me. I told Don I will never again eat any other kind of donut. These are made fresh every day and they are incredible. Crisp, light, amazing.

3-21 dohnuts

Do I need them? No. In fact, I’m hoping that working outside and in the garden – at some point in what seems like the distant future – will help me shed a few pounds. But we needed comfort food and Don is usually the instigator when it comes to comfort food. In cases like this one, I am his enabler.

Don ate all three of his. I saved one of those chocolate covered donuts for today. Yummy.

So the question is: Do we shovel or do we wait for it to melt? I’m voting for option number 2.

I ended up cleaning the bathroom, doing laundry, and reading yesterday. No quilting. But that just might happen today.

Happy Saturday.

Do you think this is worst than last winter? Wish that we could have some of your weather over here. We are in a drought. Hope this ends real soon.

It’s been colder than last winter. As far as the amount of snow – I’m not sure. I hope your drought resolves itself and that it goes away!

They should have sent train loads of refrigerated snow cars to California! Win, win! I just saw on the news last night a new thing to turn ground water into ice. They are working on the seawall on the Seattle waterfront and the water keeps seeping in, so now they are freezing the water that is coming in making it much easier for workers to remove it. So there are still new things that can be done with a water problem, and next, maybe a snow problem. California could sure use your snow!

Claudia, I think the East Coast is getting our usual weather and we are getting yours! I won’t even tell/brag to you what March has been like here in Minneapolis.
Donuts are a good antidote to cabin fever. Actually, they are good for whatever ails you.

Claudia, You made me laugh about the hair dryer…what a disappointing 1st day of spring.. I saw where there was snowing your way. I am thinking we may get a dusting later this week. but for today it’s 60 degrees.. Any snow should not last long. Glad you had a nice treat to help . Blessings, xoxo,Susie

I was afraid to read the post after I saw the title! I vote for letting it melt, with the exception of Dame Scout’s corral and path. She is royalty after all!

She’s doing okay with it the way it is. If we shovel the corral, we shovel up all the hay/straw. So, we’re going to let it melt.

It’s gross, but I guess I’m not surprised. Same thing will be happening here. Tomorrow’s high is forecasted to be 38 with light snow and Monday same temp with freezing drizzle. March is always like that in-between month. April brings more promise. :-)

Snow again! Wow. Hopefully this will be the last of it. The donuts look yummy. I am doing household chores today. Yesterday I took the 2 yr old I babysit over to my aunt’s and we stayed with her all day long, seeing to her needs. I was there for almost 12 hours and by the time I got home all I wanted was to fall into bed. Today will be a sweet day, I can just feel it. Hope yours is too!

I guess it isn’t done with you yet. Here in Wisconsin we never know for sure when that will be. But we had an especially mild winter this year. I am just waiting for the shhoe to drop and we get a big snowfall. Wouldn’t surprise me at all. But today is beautiful with blue skies and the cardinals are singing like crazy! I hope you will have this weather soon.

Claudia, run outside and take a CHRISTMAS wreath with you! Hang the wreath on your red workshop and take some pictures. The pictures will be perfect for your Christmas cards 2015.

We are suffering with pine pollen right now. Everything in sight is yellowish green and it is sticky which is very annoying. We need more rain to get the pollen to drop and to be done. Since we rarely get snow here in South GA, it would be a welcome relief, but I know you are so over it!

    Enjoy those DOHNUTS!

Oh, what a sad sight, indeed. We have a chance of some of the “s” word on Sunday night into Monday. ugh. It is a bright sunny day today, but only in the 40’s. About 3 weeks ago the 40’s sounded like a dream ~ how quickly we get spoiled in just the matter of a few warm days.
Let it melt, at this time of the year that is the one thing we can at least take some comfort in.
The donuts look amazing. Now THAT is something fun on a Saturday morning!!!!!

We have a couple of 30ish degree days coming on Sunday and Monday and then the temps will creep back up into the forties. I’ll take it. I’m wishing for the fifties, but that may be a week or so off.

Great photo! I can almost smell the wonderful doughy, deep-fat sugary scent of doughnuts from here. And fresh? You were not kidding – the chocolate was still goopy enough to run down a bit onto the bakery paper. You picked a great way to try & forget about the snow – yum. Hope you get some quilting in – at least the weather’s good for that! Enjoy your weekend… :>)

Let it melt and grab another box of dohnuts! Enjoy whatever you’re doing today. I’m headed to a play, Tartuffe. Knowing the playhouse, it will be an uber-modern interpretation and staging. Last year’s Tristan and Isolde had some of the goons in black suits, shirts, ties and fedoras.

Dare I tell you that Hubby and I went out and opened up our camping trailer at the lake today? After the mildest winter that I can remember here in Washington, we decided we could take the chance. It was 72 here today.

Spring will come soon Claudia, and you’ll soon be wishing for cooler weather! :-)

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
