I’ve read every heartfelt comment on my last blog post. Several times. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. I say ‘us’ because I know many of you read all the comments, just as I do. This particular conversation has been wonderfully enlightening and I love it when that happens.
I posted a photo very much like this one on my photo blog, Through a Lens Daily, yesterday. On a very misty, foggy morning earlier this week, I saw little drops of water on all the wild roses. It was a great opportunity to see what I could capture with my camera.
My intention with that blog was to post a new photo each day. And I did that for several months. Then Old Man Winter came and with it lots of photos of snow. Eventually, I just couldn’t post one more gray, wintry photo. So I lost my daily rhythm. I happy to say it’s coming back.
I really love photography. My camera, a Canon PowerShot SX10 IS, is doing a very good job so far and I love her but she has her limitations. Buying a new DSLR with the option to change lenses is not in the cards at this point. I wonder if looking into a used Canon Rebel might be something I should think about? Maybe there is someone out there who has moved up to another camera level and would be willing to sell the older model. Any thoughts or recommendations as to where to look?
Now I feel guilty. About my current camera. Do you ever endow inanimate objects with human qualities? I do. So I need to tell my camera that I love her and I will always hang on to her, even if I have another camera some day. She could have a sister! Now wouldn’t that be fun?
A few more photos:
The hyacinth in full bloom. I wonder how it survived the torrential rains we had last night?
Another shot of my very quick and elusive friend, Mr. Cardinal. It was captured by taking an endless amount of photos from a great distance. This guy likes to move.
Finally, I used the Random Generator to pick the winner of a copy of The Kitchen Daughter.
Congratulations, number 29 – Sherry of Creatology! Sherry, send me an email with your address and I’ll forward it on to TLC Book Tours. They’ll send it to the publisher who will mail the book directly to you.
Have a great Sunday everyone. I’m going to work outside on this windy day. I have a lot to do and I leave for Wisconsin exactly two weeks from today.

I have a camera that I don’t use anymore that is an Olympus Stylus 720. If you would like it just email me. I didn’t figure out how to take up close photos and went on to a Canon PowerShot.

I have a Canon Rebel and love it although after a couple of years am still learning about what it can really do for my shots.
I used to use an Olympus Stylus…. not the 720 that Amy mentioned, but a Stylus and it took great photos. You may want to take her up on her offer. :-))

Claudia, you post some amazing photos. I really love that cardinal. He is so regal and gorgeous. I need a better camera and the cost is what holds me back too. I wuld love to learn more and suppose a class would not hurt me any! I appreciate your thoughts today. You are a wonderful lady.

I have a Canon Rebel XS and love it, but am not ready to part with it, sweetpea. It’s the best camera I’ve ever had and you will love it when you’re able to get one.
Still composing a post on blogs, but might be out tonight or tomorrow.
xoxo,
Connie

I love the picture with the water droplets. I really love pictures that make you feel like you can almost see the image move onto the next moment. Your picture of the cardinal is awesome he is looking so proud of his space sort of like he’s saying “Yep, Spring is here and I’m responsible for it all!”

I’m just happy when my husband isn’t using his real estate camera, so that I can borrow it. Your photos are gorgeous!!!! I didn’t realize you had a photo blog. I’m going there right now to enjoy it!

Oh dear, the things that happen when I don’t have time to visit much. I loved your post about why we blog. I’m still contemplating that one. The pull toys are so adorable and just the right touch of whimsy. I love whimsy too. I adore whimsy, really. If I wasn’t already married whimsy and I might….okay – took that too far. Your book review sounds great and I’m putting it on my list at the library. Bummed I missed out on the giveaway. I always enjoy my stops here and I always take the time to catch up with what’s been happening at MHC.
Smiles,
Janelle

I think your photos are always amazing, but I do understand when there are limitations to the vision you have with each shot you try to capture. I, too, dream of a better camera. Some day for sure.

I bet you’ll be glad to just sit on that porch of yours and not be thinking what you’re going to have to pack for which destination. Your photos are beautiful!

I feel that way about objects all the time. I think they have feelings. We just got two new sofas on Friday, I felt so bad for the sofas that were going to Habitat for Humanity, I told them I loved them and I want them to move to a house where they are really needed. Am I crazy or what?
love and miss you sister,
Mere

Claudia, you do take beautiful shots with the camera you have now but I understand the desire for a Rebel. I cannot get one until my kiddo gets out of college! ♥O

Hi Claudia, So uplifting to see the new growth on roses, isn’t it? Your hyacinth is gorgeous! I do indeed endow inanimate objects with personality and feelings sometimes. As for cameras, I have many of my old ones but have to be practical – if selling a current model allows me to upgrade, I certainly will. But I make sure it gets a good home. :) xo

I just love each and everyone of your pictures today. I think you are doing just fine with your current camera. But,… I do have to let you know I just LOVE my Rebel. A used one would be a great options.
Yes, I’m really ready to get home and just see where my garden is at. I’m getting the itch to dig and plant. Just so you know the weather here in FL has been perfect these two weeks. Great time to come down to visit your family, before their summer really sets in.

I have a camera similar to yours, and I truly think of it as a friend. I love it, so much. I’ve been thinking about a camera that can do more too. We gave a great camera to my son for Christmas a couple of years ago. He was taking photography classes, and became quite good. We visited a well respected camera shop with thoughts of buying the Rebel, but were convinced to buy a Sony camera instead, by the guys in the shop. I wish I knew the model of the camera. Anyhow, they said the camera was much more for the money, which cost much less than the Cannon, and it came with an extra lens. You should really do some research, Claudia. His camera takes stunning photos. He took a few nightime shots of our city skyline, from across the sound that are amazing. It shoots very fast, as he wanted to be able to capture sports action scenes, and the telephoto is so good that he unintentionally captured the insides of folks condos, ect, when blown up to fit the 50 inch tv screen. I couldn’t believe the details.
The camera guys said that the cost of cameras often includes the cost of how much advertising they do. Something to think about.
Love your hyacinths and the cardinal. I’ve always wished that we had cardinals here.
