Still feeling under the weather; in fact, I feel worse today. It’s all head congestion, nothing in the chest and none of the Covid systems. Just sinus/allergies, I think. But I don’t have a lot of energy. I had some yesterday for a brief span in the afternoon, so I vacuumed and dusted and cleaned Don’s mini studio. But now? Crappity-crap-crap.
I was going to get my driver’s license renewed today but I think I’ll do it by mail and try to get the eye test when I’m in NYC. I don’t have the energy to stand in line for a long time.
I have lists of things to do and accomplish before I go, but it increasingly looks like I’ll do it all at the last minute and have Don bring anything I forgot when he visits me the next weekend.
It will all work out.
In the meantime, I did manage to dress the girls in their new dresses yesterday:
These sweet dresses were made by a lovely woman who lives in Russia, @puppet_story on IG. (Who knew I would be conversing with so many Russians?) She made them to order and consulted with me on the fabric choices. I’d seen some of her work elsewhere and was so enchanted by her creations that I messaged her, waited until she had an opening, and finally, placed my order. I must say, her work is impeccable.
Sophie is not happy that this house is too small for her to live in.
Neither is Imogen, but she’s a bit more easy going.
In fact, they inspected every house inside the cottage and none of them were the right size.
So, they’re sitting on the piano, looking a bit miffed.
Ah well.
Stay safe.
Happy Thursday.

This head thing is really hanging on….so sorry to hear this.
Question…do they make Blythe Doll houses? I’m sure that would make the girls happy. The girls look adorable in their new frocks.
Hope you feel better soon! ;)
Claudia says
No room for any more houses!!
Thanks, Donnamae!
Stay safe.
Donnamae says
HA!! ;)
Claudia says
No. I’m not kidding! But I did see the cutest account the other day and she uses suitcases for their ‘apartments!’
That might work….
Donnamae says
Oooh…..that might work! ;)

The girls look adorable in their new dresses. Love, love, love the shoes!
How tall are the girls? I wonder if they would fit American Girl accessories? I don’t know about a house, but I think they have beds and stuff.
Rest and feel better.
Claudia says
Probably – they work with 1:6 scale.
Stay safe, Marilyn!
jeanie says
Oh dear — after the Beacon Hill might your scale of housing be changed to accommodate the girls?!
I hope you feel much better soon and rest up this weekend.
Claudia says
No room for any more housing in this house!
Stay safe, Jeanie.

Not to be a downer….please be careful. Several people I know had a sniffle or congestion with no other symptoms and tested positive.
Claudia says
Well, you are being a bit of a downer. I get this kind of thing every year, sometimes twice a year. I have bad allergies and sinus problems and I’ve had them all my life. I never go anywhere without a mask on.
Thanks, Julie.
Stay safe.
Lottie says
Maybe tomorrow will be a better day to feel good! Best wishes.
Claudia says
Thank you, Lottie.
Stay safe.

Hope you’ll soon be feeling better, Claudia. I’ve been dealing with similar symptoms, and for me, it’s definitely allergies. Make the mistake (well, stupidity, tee hee) of opening all the windows. This summer was just too awful for me and I missed the fresh air! Sadly, the air near me is full of pollen.
Love your girls and all their finery. They are so adorable and your stories have brought them alive.
All the best, Caroline
Claudia says
Feel better, Caroline!
This is the time of year our crawl spaces get very musty and we’ve had a lot of rain this year. I’m allergic to that stuff, plus we had a big weather change this week.
Stay safe.

Sorry you’re stuffed up/congested; better to get thru it now than next week; get well soon!
I’d never heard of a Blythe doll until you recently introduced us to them here on your blog. So, I’ve been doing a little research here and there, trying to learn more about them (is quite a history from vintage to ‘neo’ and when/how the line changed hands with Kenner, Hasbro, etc.), and I thought it interesting when I found this on a site called Blythe University — an article entitled ‘(Blythe) As a Boost to Mental Health’. I’m going to go back and read it, but this goes along with what’s been said about how these kinds of activities, like working with our dolls, are incredibly calming and absorbing; gets the mind off other ‘stuff’.
Vicki says
Referencing my first comment, the article said, “When we immerse ourselves in a hobby such as customizing and crafting dolls , we often reach a point called ‘flow’, whereby our sense of time is lost and we are truly at one with the subject at hand. This change in state is extremely therapeutic and engenders in us a feeling of wellness and pleasure from which the real world of work and relationships is so often so far removed. That’s why Blythe is truly an escape.”

I’m all in favor of any creative activity that engages us. Real calming.
