Friday morning brought a walk down to the lake. The beaches weren’t open for swimming yet, some fishermen were out on the lake, and I got to spend some time drinking in the lake’s beauty.
I found a deserted dock.
Wait…not so deserted. A Great Blue Heron and I shared the dock. As I crept closer, the heron maintained his still, graceful stance.
Closer and closer.
Pretty good for an iPhone. But oh, what I could have done with my big girl camera!
Some boaters came near and he got a little fidgety, then he stopped, leaned over the dock, peering into the water, flew down and came up with a fish in his mouth. But alas, our time together was disturbed by the boaters and he flew over to the next dock.
But what a lovely time we had together, he and I.
Happy Saturday.
Beautiful peaceful pictures! I really would love to be there. Doris
It’s sure beautiful, Doris.
Isn’t it wonderful when you happen on something from the natural world? Loved these pictures…I could almost feel the breeze.
Have a good weekend,
Balisha
I will, Balisha. Thank you.
I love discovering a new day early in the morning; just me and Mother Nature seeing the wonders. What a beautiful lake and Mr. Heron there to welcome you. Only your favorite coffee was missing! And, Don, of course.
I had the coffee before I got there, Dottie!
What a beautiful place, and the lake looks so peaceful. Pinning!
Thanks, my friend!
Oh, how exciting!!! They are such regal birds. I don’t get to see them up close, really, so it was wonderful to see him through your lens!
Donna
Thanks, Donna!
Beautiful bird…gorgeous lake…calm morning. So glad you get to take this all in! Happy day to you! ;)
Thank you, Donna!
Beautiful and so glad you were able to snap a few pics with your iphone!
It was an unexpected treat, Linda.
Such a lovely place to be spending time…you’re such a lucky lady. My family had a cottage on a lake in Ohio, and we moved there when I was about 10 years old. I loved (and still do) waking to the sound of morning doves, and heading out to sit on the dock to watch the cranes and ducks out and about by the shoreline.
I envy you that, Karen!
Oh, Claudia….at the time, I was young and full of wanderlust, so I didn’t fully appreciate the loveliness of it all. So grateful for the memories, though. (but, often I do long for that peacefulness now that I live in a city with all the city noises )
Lucky girl, Claudia. Gorgeous spot, and a gorgeous time of year too. Although I bet Chautauqua is pretty spectacular in the Fall too. Have a great weekend – sounds like you’ll be getting perfect June weather… :>)
It really is perfect. Very nice after a week filled with rain!
Amazing scenery..I love being near water..it is so relaxing..
It is, indeed, Nancy.
I often share my paddling time on the water with a beautiful heron. They are wonderful to look at.
But, I was more impressed by the sky in photo #2. Wow!
I love to watch them fly..They look like pterodactyls…Great pictures..
