Oh, the indignity of it all.

This is the time of year that Scout has to put up with me chasing her around the room, while she repeatedly shakes the bunny ears off her head and I put them on again. Over and over.

How do I put it? She dislikes it all intensely. She isn’t happy with me.

But come on, can you blame me? Scout has very pink ears. The bunny ears are pink. It’s a no brainer.

I got them at Target a couple of years ago for a dollar. Well worth it, I say.

She needs a bath. Next week.

Thanks so much for all your thought provoking responses to yesterday’s post. Wow. You women are amazing and inspiring.

More egg cups:

eggcups13

Left: My most valuable, in terms of price, egg cup. The stamp on the bottom says ©1937 W.D. Ent, Made in Japan. I have seen some of the other dwarfs and Snow White online, but they come up for auction very rarely and they go for a lot of money. It’s a dream of mine to get the whole collection someday. I can’t remember now how I managed to acquire Doc. I know it was on eBay and the price wasn’t outrageous, so I assume it was all in the timing.

Right: Humpty Dumpty from Mansell Porcelain/England. I love this one and I had to stalk eBay repeatedly until I finally managed to snag it.

I have one more that will be shown on A Favorite Thing later today. Thanks so much for letting me share this collection with you.

Pocillovy: collecting egg cups

Since I’ve been running this series, I’ve been scanning eBay and I’m thinking of expanding my collection. Perhaps souvenir egg cups? Or more transferware egg cups? Or beautiful china pattern egg cups? Or all of the above?

Happy Friday.

I do feel for Scout, she looks angry, especially in that 4th pic. Do you have antlers for her for Christmas? That was a great post yesterday…and great responses! It was nice to know that how I feel, is also how other women feel…of a certain age.

ScoutBunny, you are adorable!!!!!!!! Claudia, I can see why you inflict those ears on Scout, they are perfect together! If you decide to expand your egg cup collection my suggestion that you acquire any and all that make your heart jump. I seriously love the Humpty Dumpty one. I can just imagine that with an egg in it, especially one with the top broke off. :-)

I doubt Scout is as abused as she wants us to think she is.

I bought the same bunny ears! The headband part is too big for the dogs’ heads, so I cut off the ends and threaded elastic through the casing. Poor Ruby and Daniel.

I remember it was the lady and gentleman that I have always thought of as grandparents. Mrs. Russell would make soft boiled eggs for her and her husband. I was too squimish to eat them…..so she hard boiled one for me.:):) Happy Easter to you and Don. xoxo, Susie

Scout looks so happity (as in hoppity) in the pictures. I could’t even get bunny ears on any of my dogs, they shook them off as I woud try to put them on.

About yesterday’s great post and great answers. I tried to post and kept getting cut off, so I gave up. I just wanted to say that I think we all slack off stuff as we get older. I certainly have. After all these years of wearing curlers to bed, I’ve noticed that my hair now looks the same and most times better when I just wash is and comb in place. Wish I had known this years ago. As long as I have sun screen and a bit of coverup, I feel like I have make up on. Of course vision not being what is used to be, I think I look fine. I do like to shop for clothes still, but my taste is definitely more casual. It’s good to be comfortable.

Gosh, I forgot about wearing curlers to bed! It seems so strange to me now. My mom wore them to bed all the time and they were the uncomfortable, bristly ones! Yikes. I’m glad you don’t have to wear them anymore!

Easter bunny Scout…she’s so cute! You have the greatest egg cup collection. I don’t want a huge collection only because I have nowhere to put them, but you had me looking on eBay the other day at vintage egg cups, and ummm…I bought one, lol. Only because this one was milk glass – which I collect – and had a hand wrapped around it. I have a “thing” for hand decor.

Scout is a very good sport! We got one of those reindeer antler dog headbands and Buddy didn’t much cotton to it, either. The Maggie bunny project will be PERFECT for you to do in Hartford! Lots of little projects on it, very portable, lots of hand sewing — and Mabel will b there with you for the dress! Yes, Minnie Bell purrs along, I really enjoyed using her. I read your post on accepting yourself with interest. I was pretty as a young woman and always wore eyeliner and used it always when I went out in public – until about 5 years ago and it started irritating my eyes – so I gave it up and just twirl my hair up into a barrette and have let it silver naturally. I’m happy and comfortable this way and I look like a proper grandmother. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Meanwhile dear Claudia – you have the best collection I’ve seen – love the Humpty Dumpty! Did I ever tell you I was Happy in SW&T7D’s? It was a Sunday School production at age 8 or so – we had rehearsed for weeks and first night was a bummer as the rest of the dwarfs came down with the measles! I never caught it, or any other childhood disease – guess I was a favorite for stage shows as they knew I’d always show up without a rash!

Yes, yes keep on collecting – they are really fabulous.
