Little Wren (on the right) received a new dress in the mail, so I had to redress both of the little ones. A friend from the Blythe feed sold her little doll like Wren and reached out to ask me if I wanted to buy some of her clothes which were made by Bonjour Cheries in France. She makes fabulous clothing for dolls, especially these small girls created by Eat Zongzi in China. I have several of her pieces. I could only afford one piece and chose this sweet pink checked dress. Lily is wearing a Blythe dress and I must say, it looks lovely on her.
Dressing these two was a good thing to do. I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately and it extends to the dolls as well. I just didn’t have much motivation to take photos of them. I’m slowly coming out of that now.
My mood will be much improved when the darn ice melts. As of now, it’s still a completely frozen landscape, but we will see a high of 37 degrees today, and it will be even warmer tomorrow. I imagine we’ll see a difference in the landscape by Monday. I hope we never have to go through this kind of thing again. It’s been a nightmare.
Speaking of which, Don made it safely home last night, but, even with parking nearer to the house, he said it was very scary out there. He had to hold on to the car. I was upstairs in bed, and when I heard the side door shut, I breathed a sigh of relief. We’re staying in for the weekend and then we’ll do clean up on Monday when the ice has begun to melt.
I cannot wait for the day when I get that ‘spring is in the air’ feeling. Oh, heavens, it will be wonderful!
The puzzle is almost finished. I might accomplish that today. Or tomorrow.
Stay safe.
Happy Saturday,
I’m glad Don had a safe trip. That ice is treacherous. You chose a darling dress… Love the pink checks and lace collar together. I can only imagine how it will be to have the ice melted…and hopefully never to return. Take care.
It’s melting a bit today, but it will take at least 3 days, I think, for it all to melt.
Thanks, Barrie.
Stay safe.
sorry you’ve been dealing with all that ice, worry over don traveling on it to and from a gig, him having to be out on it and especially that you fell. hope you feel better in every way and sooner than it might seem likely, and glad don made it back home alright.
even if you haven’t felt much interest in them lately, i’m glad you have books, a puzzle, the blythes and other things for when that interest comes back. and it (obviously) will.
it’s going to warm up here in a day or so … high 40s, maybe even low 50s after a week of below-zero overnights and windchills closer to 20 below. hope that mild, easier weather reaches you soon and helps fight the funk, too.
my to-do list is very long and i am overwhelmed and very sad. i make myself do stuff each day because the list is so important, honors my parents and helps my brother and sister … otherwise i would not be doing a thing. am grateful for the weekend … no calls, no appointments. something on today’s list just for me is making sure i have everything ready to get my taxes done on tuesday. will be glad to have them done. for now, though, i need to feed earl and the birds.
hope you, don and everyone else have a nice weekend and stay safe always.
kathy
I remember making list when my dad died – staying with Meredith an extra week so we could take care of a big chunk of things pertaining to Dad’s death. It’s hard. It’s exhausting. And the whole time, you’re in mourning. I understand, Kathy.
Stay safe.
I’m glad you’re staying in this weekend. I hope the weather continues to stay warm enough for a good melt — and doesn’t over-freeze at night so you have to start the process over again. So very glad Don made it back and inside safely.
Have a wonderful weekend. (The girls are darling.)
Oh, it will overfreeze tonight and tomorrow night. So we’re just going to stay in. We have no salt to put down, so we just have to wait.
Thanks, Jeanie.
Stay safe.
Wren and Lily are just so cute! What a sweet new dress for Wren. Lily looks pretty cute, too. I haven’t been as attentive to Jessie and Walter as I should be. They are still wearing their Christmas duds. Will have to do better. Glad Don got home safely. It’s a worry to be driving on winter roads. The sun is shining here but still lots of snow. Take care. Stay safe. Hugs, Elaine
Won’t you be happy when it’s spring, Elaine? I will.
Stay safe.
Claudia, pleased Don made it home safely. Ugh, walking on ice over snow in the dark, even with a flashlight, is daunting. Does Don take a lot of equipment with him, or only his guitar?
I have a friend in Cornwall who used to do solo gigs as well as play with a band. The amount of equipment he had to haul around, even for his solo gigs, filled his car. My husband DJ’ed on the side and his equipment filled our van, with the rear seats taken out.
I like seeing your girls but they seem dejected by the bad weather too. Staying in this weekend is a good idea. Make the most of home time.
He took his guitar and amp, but his friend who also sang last night, is borrowing it, so he only had to bring his guitar in.
Well, Wren always looks sad! But they’re sick of winter, too. That’s why they have some spring dresses on!
Stay safe, Wendy.
dear Claudia/Don — so glad Don had a safe trip — I think it is a terrible feeling to be ice-bound — have had that happen here in past times–awful. hoping for some warm up for you all and us!! these little girls are so cute — if only they had red hair/green eyes, would be perfect haha!! your puzzle is a gorgeous pic but I think looks Hard!! sure hope you all get back to normal w/better weather. stay safe, healthy, warm
They’re Asian dolls, Linda. Black hair, dark eyes.
Thanks so much.
Stay safe.
Very cute picture of your little ones. That hat! Precious. Pretty much the same here — the roads and shoveled sidewalks are clear from the sun melting the ice but everywhere else it is quite treacherous walking.
We drove into the city last night to meet and have dinner with Nick and his significant other from Florida. She’s a lovely young woman and we had a great time. While we stood waiting for the guys to get their cars since it wasn’t possible to walk in the frozen snow lining the gutters, she kept stomping her feet and rubbing her boots on the snow in the driveway where we stood. I asked if she had stepped in something (lots of dogs in that neighborhood) and she said no, that she just hadn’t had a chance to be this close to frozen snow/ice and wanted to “feel” it. Earlier she’d told us she was 28 before actually seeing snow in person. To us it was a reminder winter isn’t disappearing fast enough, to her it was simply wondrous.
Take care,
Kay
Happy to hear you enjoyed meeting your son’s girlfriend. Lovely!
Stay safe, Kay.
I loved seeing the girls today….that little gray hat! We’re in for warmer temps in North Jersey for the next week, so I hope it extends up to you. I feel like I stay in more and more in the winter.
Yes, it’s getting warmer here. We need to chop up the remaining ice.
Stay safe, Judy.
Claudia I even hate to say this but it was in the 70’s today. I got a lot of gardening done. We are so the opposite here. Love the temps now but the days of 100+ degrees will be here before we know it. I am glad Don got home safe. I miss a little bit of snow, but not the ice! The girls look adorable! Hoping you get some warmer temps. Stay warm!
Thanks, Deb.
Stay safe.
I can hardly wait to “sit” on your funky porch amid your plants. I can’t get anything to grow so I really enjoy seeing yours.
Thanks so much, Christine.
Stay safe.
Your little ones are way too cute for words! I read that some people have a little higher iq”s if they have a great sense of style. I like to think I put my clothing together a bit creatively. I’m not trendy. People compliment me. You, Claudia, also have a high iq, not just because of your smarts and your career, but man, how you dress your blythe dolls!!
Thanks, Irene.
Stay safe.
