It rained all day yesterday (oh, how we needed it!) and right before dinner as the rain stopped, I noticed a bright light coming through the windows. It came from the sun on the western horizon and it lit up our yard. Don went outside, and then I joined him.
And as I turned toward the house, THIS was over the back forty:
We could see the entire rainbow and it was extraordinary. We haven’t seen one around here in a few years.
And, as the sun dropped below the horizon, this was the view to the west.
Then, later, as it grew darker:
Extraordinary. It felt like a message of hope.
We had a lovely day. As we ate our scrumptious dinner, we took turns stating something we were grateful for. And that continued for the entire meal. We’ve never done it quite that way before and it’s now going to be a tradition.
I’m grateful for all of you.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

what a lovely new tradition!
and what a glorious sunset and rainbow. happy you saw them, got some rain and that we live in such a beautiful world!
glad you and don had a nice thanksgiving.
hope everyone did.
bittersweet here (like it was and is for lots of people) for missing loved ones not here … but full of gratitude, enjoying what was/is and looking forward too. also had a few moments of big dread … couldn’t find the green beans and thought i’d have to find a grocery store that was open and go try to get some. thankfully didn’t have to … they were found and it was good. also found myself feeling crabby later in the day, thought about it and it was due to feeling/thinking i’d have to go to work the next day. ??? weird. glad that didn’t last long. really glad to be retired!
planning on a quiet day today. only once in my life have i ever gone shopping the day after thanksgiving and that was enough … haha. nice to have leftovers to enjoy after a lot of cooking and baking.
hope you all have a nice, easy day ahead. stay safe.

Yes, we need to get a few things, but we’re waiting until Saturday or Sunday.
Stay safe, Kathy.
kathy in iowa says
sounds good.
for me, a possible “bargain” just isn’t worth all the stress of crowds at those sales or stores. and i am more than happy with leftovers for meals.
happy friday to you and don!

Grateful for you, Claudia and for the gift of your posts several times each week. When I see sunsets such as you caught on camera,I call them Maxwell Parrish sunsets. xo

We say the same thing, Annette. In fact, I said it last night!

The rainbow is beautiful. I am grateful for your blog especially this year. In July, my 13 year old grandson Logan died of a seizure, my husband Joe died 18 days later (I’ve known him since 1972 when I was 14), and my son-in-law’s father died six days after Joe. My 10 month old granddaughter Lucy will never know her brother or her grandfathers. I actually made it through Thanksgiving without crying surprisingly.
Any way all that to say your blog makes me smile. I enjoy seeing pictures of the girls, the dollhouses and your gardens and plants. And of course hearing about what you and Don are up to and what you’re reading. And the fact we’re both disgusted with who will be President. So thank you for sharing your life on the blog. I really do look forward to reading it.
Claudia says
Oh, Carol! Such profound losses in a short amount of time. My heart breaks for you. I’m sending you hugs and prayers for healing and support as you move forward. I’m humbled that the blog makes you smile, my friend. I hope I can continue to provide a little haven for you.
Much love,
Claudia
