I took a little walk through our woods and sat on the bench that Don got for me. This was my view:
Not bad, huh? This is my neighbor’s property. It was recently mowed for hay. Don and I took a walk right after this picture was taken – through the back of the field and down the hill.
I’m sitting at the edge of our woods, so trees are right behind me.
I love living here – in every direction our views are expansive. You can’t beat it!
The repairman has the parts for the washing machine and he’ll be here this afternoon. Maybe I’ll finally be able to stop wiping up leaking water! Fingers crossed.
In view of the cowardice of the Washington Post, it was ironic that All the President’s Men was pre-scheduled on TCM last night. Of course, we watched it because it is a movie that we love, love, love and that we will drop everything for – no matter if it’s in the middle or near the end. It’s a must see. (If you don’t know about the Post’s latest move, google it.) Brilliantly done.
I haven’t shared a doll photo for a while – mostly because I haven’t been inspired to dress/pose them, but I did have a little inspiration the other day, so here’s Madeleine, out of her sleeveless dress and bundled up for the cooler temperatures.
Stay safe.
Happy Saturday.
It’s scary to think that billionaire Bezos blocked the endorsement of Harris. I don’t like that Bezos and Musk have so much power to manipulate the message in our country. I’m glad the word is out about this and hope people wake up to the manipulation of Musk and Bezos and others like them.
Your lovely views are so calming, Claudia. We sure need that now.
I don’t like it either. They’re oligarchs, who should have no power in government whatsoever.
Stay safe, Ellen.
agree very much!
hope you have plenty of lovely calming views, ellen, and that you enjoy yours, claudia!
stay safe.

what a time we are living in …
… but what a view (and marriage and books and blythes and planning beacon hill updates …) you have to offset the troubles in this world! happy for you about that.
and that your washing machine will be fixed today!
after doing a lot of things this past week and going to seven stores yesterday (groceries, birthday presents for my father) in four-plus hours, i was hoping for an easy day today. trying not to worry, but i woke up to something that looks like shingles. found a walk-in clinic open today, have an appointment later this morning. ugh. i did have the two shingles shots a couple years ago so, if this is shingles, hopefully it will stay small and “mild” and go away soon?!?
also, i recommend avoiding whenever possible shopping on a friday afternoon and in the not-long-into-after-work hours. ugh again.
also, not that i am a huge football fan, but don’t want to miss watching at least part of the nebraska-ohio state game this morning with members of my family (three of us were born in nebraska, two in ohio … but we all cheer for nebraska).
anyway, hope you, don and everyone else have a wonderful weekend. stay safe.
kathy
I hope you don’t have shingles. Maybe it’s just a rash?
Stay safe, Kathy.
thanks, claudia.
saw doctor this morning, awaiting biopsy results, expected in a couple days (fluids drawn from rash … who knew they could do that? not me. also, probably kind of gross to read that … sorry). on two week-long meds to get rid of it (one for shingles) … ten pills a day; praying they work. glad i went, but perhaps just as good? the pharmacist said those meds are powerful (so the doctor’s not taking a wait-and-see approach) and those two prescriptions together cost me a whopping $6.23. :)
hope you and don are having a nice weekend.
stay safe.

That is a lovely view…and so thoughtful of Don to place a bench there so you could take in that view.
We were out and about yesterday taking in the colors, with my Scotland son, and my youngest and his wife. There were stops along the way for breakfast, and refreshments, and we met some lovely people, too. It was a timely distraction from all the election hoopla, so I missed the non endorsement news until this morning. But…Bezos really said it all now, didn’t he? As you said…brilliant!
Madeleine looks ready for fall. We are having a family gathering tomorrow…all my babies under one roof again….if only for a few hours. Enjoy your weekend! ;)
Brilliant for the movie, not Bezos!
So glad your children are all together, Donnamae!
Stay safe.
lol!! He is a coward, but what I meant, is that by saying…he is basically afraid to endorse because of retaliation from Trump…it was sort of a backhanded endorsement of Harris. My thought. (If you don’t get it I totally understand.). And yes….All The President’s Men is brilliant!! ;)
Got it.
xo
i’m happy for you and your kids to be together. hope time goes slow and you all enjoy every second!
kathy
Thank you Kathy…it is never long enough! ;)
What lovely views you have. I’m so happy to have more sunshine in my home now that I moved. I’m sooooo disappointed in the Washington Post. I have my absentee ballot and will be mailing it Monday. I’m praying Georgia goes blue again, we shall see. Hugs to you and Don.
It sounds like it might, Linda. Fingers crossed!
Stay safe.
i’m glad you have more sunshine now, linda.
(“sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy …!”)
hope you’re having a lovely, sunny weekend! stay safe.

Thank you Kathy. I am enjoying the Fall weather so much!!
Bezos and Musk think money is power. They will think again when Harris is elected. You and Don live in a lovely home on a beautiful property. And Madeleine is dressed perfectly for “sweater weather”. Hugs, Elaine
Thanks so much, Elaine.
While Bezos is now ruining the reputation of a once-great newspaper, it will all be for nothing. He deserves everything he gets.
Stay safe.
scary how some people find and use power, isn’t it?
here’s to better days ahead!
happy safe weekend to you!
kathy
You live in a beautiful place.
I thought about Katharine Graham when Bezos made the Post make his cowardice announcement. I am sure she woul be appalled to put it mildly.
I have cast my vote and I am hopeful but scared.
Good news about your washing machine parts!
Take Care,
Kaye
Thanks so much, Kaye.
Stay safe.
Rick and I watched it too — and yes, love it to the max and have seen it many times before. I recorded it this time. Everything about it works as a film — but even more so as the lessons it teaches us about fine, intrepid, dogged journalism. The pre-talk with Spielberg was interesting too. Don’t start me on the endorsements.
It was so good to be away from politics for three whole weeks, although I did glance at the NYT a bit — but not obsessively and no TV. Heaven!
One upon a time in a country ….
A fairy tale … people -although the voted differently – spoke to each other.
What comes after the elections? I am more than worried but still watching from a relatively safe place.
All the best to the American people
Thanks so much, Regula.
Stay safe.
