There’s Much to be Done

April 2, 2022 at 8:20 am by Claudia

Sunny today, thankfully, but more rain tomorrow and three days of rain next week. Sigh.

If you want to sum up my days lately, you can file them under “Waiting for Spring.”

Lilac buds that are growing larger every day give me hope.

Birds singing give me hope.

The return of the peepers gives me hope.

But, boy, I am restless this year. I have to be careful about my back, and it’s so much better. Yet – I have to be cautious. The shed needs cleaning inside. The porch railings need cleaning. The siding needs cleaning. And the gardens have to be cleaned out – I always leave plants in place over the winter to supply food and shelter for the birds and I leave leaves there as well because they function as a good mulch. All of that has to be taken care of this month as well as a number of other things – like cleaning up the yard and raking debris.

I might venture out today to clean the porch railings. That would be a relatively easy start.

Sisters.

This may be the only sunny day for a while, so I’m determined to spend some time outside today.

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday.

    Hello.

Amor Towels was interviewed on CBS Saturday this morning. It was very interesting.

I also saw that interview. Made me miss my Adirondack lake. Can’t wait for his next book!

I totally understand ‘waiting for Spring’. It’s currently snowing here again. The only nice thing is this time of year, it snows, then melts very quickly…and we really do need the precipitation. My list is as long as yours for outdoor work. So I’ve been concentrating on indoor work…of which there is much.

Enjoy your sunshine today…but you know the drill…don’t overdo! ;)

Everything needs cleaning. And raking. And weeding. And washing… and it’s freezing here today. Will it never end?

So glad your back is much improved. Still, be careful!

Hoping for rain here to melt the last bit of snow and then a return to green. Hoping your rain stops soon and the sun comes out!

Love your new photo on the side. Very you!

Because I don’t live in four-season weather, I struggle to understand the kind of ‘Spring’ cleaning the rest of you must go thru as winter makes its exit; sure sounds like a lot of work; and, Claudia, with your back still in ‘sensitive’ mode, you’ll have to be so careful and pace yourself; every time you go to lift something or reach too far for something else, you’ll need to avoid the spontaneity of the task and just hold yourself back, think if it’s something you and Don could do as a shared task (but not so as to bung up his shoulder either!); of course, you know this; it’s just that when there IS a lot to be done, we sometimes push ourselves a little too hard.

How do you clean the siding of your house? Up on ladders with some kind of long-handled scrubber? Or do you spray it with a cleaner, or what, so as not to remove paint? Just curious! What is the composition of the siding?

Yes, Don and I are going to have to work together – slowly!

I use a long handled brush on the the aluminum siding, Vicki.

      Stay safe.

Vicki, I live in Canada with 4 very distinct seasons. For Spring Cleaning, we sweep out and wash the garage floor as the snow is often mixed with sand for traction, so by Spring, we have a sandy garage floor. We power wash the decks as brick patio as well as after the snow, it’s dusty. We turn the dirt over in the gardens so the dirt is loose and ready for plants. We wash the outside windows as they also get dusty from the wind and the snow. And the siding as well. As much work as it is, always lovely to see everything look fresh and new again.

I don’t blame you. We were supposed to get snow showers today but they didn’t materialize. We are going to get rain, however.

      Stay safe, Marilyn.

It snowed here most of the day, but it melts pretty quickly. Still, just seeing it falling is just depressing. Another inch or so tomorrow night into Monday. Oh, so over it. I am not a fan of spring because of its fickle nature. We take one step backward and I can just hear cackling laughter as we get pushed about 5 steps back again. ugh.

Did some cleaning here today. Want to get a few things out for Easter for the wee one to see and enjoy. When she walks in and says “wow!!” it makes it worth it!!

Hope you took it easy today if you got outside. We might actually have some sun tomorrow and then snow and rain through most of next week. We really do need the precipitation, so at least it is good in that regard. Take care.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
