These Sheep are Ready to Party

August 19, 2010 at 8:36 am by Claudia

Back when I was in California, my sister Meredith saw a photo of some vintage putz sheep I had seen in a shop and fell in love. One day, I drove back to the shop and bought 4 of them. She gave me one (thank you!) and I sent the other 3 to her. Then I fashioned a hat for my little guy and Mer said she would also like some hats. This morning I made some for her little flock.

We picked out the scrapbook paper yesterday and I brought along the flowers.

Gosh darn it, this little one is a cutie! Making these little hats is very fiddly work and getting them to stay on their heads is a whole other challenge. I’m afraid to move them now. But they can’t stay out here in the kitchen. Their home will be in the glass case with Dinah.

I removed part of yesterday’s post for two reasons. My beloved parents sometimes read this blog and I don’t want to upset them. And…I feel I have been too negative lately. My worries are real, don’t get me wrong, but my blog is predominantly cheerful and I want to keep it that way. Thank you so much for your wonderful, supportive comments. As always, they warm my heart.

Let’s close with a little critter who hangs around my sister’s property.

He was moving fast and hard to capture on film. It was my first encounter with an armadillo – what strange, almost prehistoric creatures they are! This morning he was in the bushes. This little guy gets around.

Well, I have to go. It is almost time for Max to bark at the Pool Monster.

The sheep are definitely cuter than than that armadillo! Those critters are very common where I live. They can really tear up gardens, and they smell horrible. They are very interesting, though.
So glad you had some happy crafting time yesterday!

…so loving the happy party hats on your growing flock (are you sure your middle name isn’t, bo peep??!)
~ and WHAT IN THE NAME was that creature, I know you said an armadillo but I’ve never actually seen one outside of a museum!!!LOL!
As far as lifes happenings…it gets messy!!…and I’m not sayin` we should all be complainers or whinning about stuffs all the time ~BUT~ If we are in a place that we have hit that blaring red light, why can we not share that as well??
There are MANY sides to us women and I would hope that this collective blogging group is just as supportive when we have our crappy days as they are with our happy ones!

Loving the sheep – and the armadillo! Such a strange creature! And I know what you mean about problems – it is always difficult to know how much to write. Writing can be so cathartic and fellow bloggers can be so supportive…yet you don’t always want to air everything for fear of hurting others or sounding too negative! But we are only human! xxx

Living in Florida my self, I usually see those cute armadillos upside down by the side of the road. They really do have cute faces, but most people are scared of them.

Good wishes and I love the baa-baas.

Hi Claudia ♥ The little sheep are adorable! The armadillo is kinda cute too :) I’m sorry I have not commented much- I’ve been a little under the weather, but I’ve been reading and I just wanted to tell you that part of why your blog is so wonderful is your honesty and your loving heart. I understand about keeping a blog cheery- but sometimes it’s good to have support from friends through rough times too. I wish I could give you a hug in person.

I grew up in FL so armadillos were common. My sister even had one once as a pet. They are the funniest looking things. Love those little sheep. Perhaps a small piece of double sided tape would keep the tiny party hats on them? ♥

Whoa! The aramdillo took me aback for second. He is really something else isn’t he? I do remember them quite well from Texas when we would visit my Grandparents back in the day.

    Have a blessed weekend Claudia.

i want a hat too…those are so funny. very sweet.
the little guy in the bushes will EAT the bushes. those creatures love to wreak havoc on gardens!!!!! they also the only creature besides humans that carry hansen’s disease (but who knows if they transmit it) (leprosy)…but i’m not a doctor or scientist, so don’t quote me on that one. they have very sharp claws and dig holes everywhere. are they pests, but they certainly are very unique and iteresting. we saw them all the time in georgia and texas. strange little things. didn’t know they moved so fast!!!!!
glad you had a good visit with your sister. that is worth a summer filled with armadillos…whatever that means…

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
