This little one landed on the neglected planter hanging from the deck. I’m pretty sure it is a Yellow Warbler or a Goldfinch, as one reader suggested. Teeny-tiny and oh, so beautiful.
As we headed into our final Tech rehearsal on Wednesday, spectacular thunderstorms were raging all over our area. Thunder, lightning, hail – it was quite the show. We had to hold curtain for a half hour but we finally got going. The evening ended up being fairly quiet with no wind (thank goodness) and occasional thunder and flashes of lightning all over the sky. It was beautiful.
Yesterday the temperature had dropped 20 degrees. Tonight we have our first preview performance with an audience. Should be interesting.
For those readers who are counting, I have 9 1/2 days left here. I can’t let myself think of the dogs or I find myself overcome with longing for their sweet faces. So I will shut the door on any such thoughts until it gets closer to Sunday, June 19th.
The winner of a copy of Unfinished Business is Kim of Bluebirds and Butterflies. Congratulations, Kim! I sent you an email. I just need your address to forward to TLC Book Tours.

i just found your blog this week and have really enjoyed it. i wanted to comment on several posts. loved the one on vernors…we can’t get it around here any more but have friend whose family lives where you can. every time he goes home for a visit, he makes a vernors run for us, lol.
we share a love for birds, too. your beautiful little morning visitor is a goldfinch. yellow warblers have a longer, black bill.
hope your show goes well.

Hi Dear Claudia, My move is finally behind me, hope it’s the last one ever, but that’s probably just wishful thinking. Hopefully I can get back to blogging on a regular basis now. I find you are away again, but going home soon I see. ♥

Beautiful photo Claudia! Love the color of the background. Hoping you have the perfect weather for the show and a safe journey home.
Congrats Kim from Bluebirds and Butterflies on winning the giveaway! If I ever get some time…I hope to read the book.
P.S. Claudia, I thought one of the birds was going to jump out of the nest last night. He keep standing on the edge of the nest and flapping his wings! We’re in for stormy severe weather today so I hope they stay in the nest a couple more days. As you can tell….I’m obsessed with those robins! I understand missing the birds and your precious fur babies. You’ll be home soon.

Claudia…your photos are beautiful…is there anything you can’t do? I love thunder and lightning but here on the west coast it rarely happens. Hope everything goes well with your first performance…break a leg…right?

Claudia, I so enjoyed your photos of the robins while catching up with all the posts I missed whilst in England. Sorry one didn’t make it perhaps – but that’s Nature and we have to be thankful for all the tiny lives that do survive – it’s such a rough and tumble world out there for tiny, helpless creatures.
I’m wondering if the baby cardinals here are the ones from ‘my nest’ in the arbor – they fledged whilst I was gone. The bird population seems huge this Spring around the garden – amazing considering this terrible heat which just won’t let up – 102 yesterday, in the 90’s daily!
Know you are anxious to get home – take care during your travels.
Hugs – Mary

Hi Claudia,
My husband and I just returned from helping my son, Elliott, to move out of his dorm at the University of Washington. Happy to have my son home again for the summer! I sat down to take a look at my blog comments and hopped over to Mockingbird Hill to find a big surprise! A nice ending to my day! I am so excited to read that I have won the drawing for the book! I am really looking forward to receiving it. I loved reading your book review. Each time I pick it up to read, I will be thinking of you. Thank you, Claudia! I will send you an email with my mailing address and post on my blog when I receive it. I know you are looking forward to seeing your loved ones at home. I hope the next few days go quickly for you. I am sure they are counting down the days and will be excited to see you! So excited to receive the book…thank you, Claudia! (((((hugs)))) Kim
