The ever-present and very slow going puzzle. I think I inserted about 5 pieces yesterday. Sigh. But I will finish this thing, darn it! I will!
Yes, we will brace the bookshelves and attach them to the wall. We’re going to get a piece of ¼ inch plywood, suggested by one of the readers of this blog, and place it under the unit. That will allow the cutout to fit over the baseboard. It won’t be completely flush against the wall as there is a cable system cord there that we can’t do anything about, but pretty darned close. And then we’ll use the L bracket IKEA included and screw it to the studs in the wall.
Don is going to go get a piece of plywood this morning, along with a new battery for my stud-finder.
He was going to do all of this yesterday afternoon but he was really tired. He’s been doing a lot lately, most of it to help me out, so it was time for him to rest. Bless him, he’ll run any errand, but he needs to rest.
And in more “Dr. Frankenstein” (as Don calls me) news: the neck joints for the Obitsu 22 body that I ordered for Mabel arrived. Depending on today’s schedule, it might be time for some surgery. If you remember, Mabel came with a Licca body. I don’t like them because they are not posable. They’re great if you are a collector who simply wants to display the dolls, but you know I love to come up with little scenarios and stories. I only ordered one Obitsu body because they’re a bit pricey and Mabel needed it most, as her neck joint is making her head wobble. But little Olivia also has a Licca body and that will be replaced when I have a bit more money. Licca bodies are smaller, so Olivia always looks shorter than the rest of the girls. That’s sort of adorable, but again – all she can do is stand. Is that fair to Olivia? She needs to be as flexible as her sisters, don’t you think?
I’ll try to take a photo of Licca and Obitsu bodies so you can see the difference.
What else? I guess we’re going to get a small amount of snow tomorrow night. But it will melt quickly.
I am READY for spring. The daffodils are coming up on the edge of the woods, and the day lily by the side of the house is emerging from the ground as well. I’m sure there are more signs of life than that, but it’s too early to clear all the leaves/mulch in the garden beds because it’s definitely too cold at night.
Porch sitting, gardening, flowers, GREEN: Bring it on!
Stay safe.
Happy Thursday.

A silly comment- I tell my husband he doesn’t need a stud finder because he is a stud whenever he is doing a project. He’s been helping our SIL on a huge project. Whenever he can’t find the stud finder, he runs around yelling I can’t find myself!! <3 He cracks me up.
Good luck with the surgery, Dr. Claudia.

I love that, Betsy!

there are those pretty flowers! and those great old wooden chairs! and two of my most favorite things in your home … the happy-turquoise-y message board you made and that piece of trim with don’s pull-toys (or whatever they’re called … sorry, can’t think of anything else to call them)!
and i can see you are very close to finishing the puzzle. you’ll get it done soon! :)
best wishes on performing mabel’s neck surgery. :)
good luck with your weather. we are getting lots of wet, heavy snow right now. it’s beautiful, filling the sky, blanketing everything, outlining every twig and branch and thankfully falling straight down (no wind to make it worse for those who have to be out in it). good thing it’s beautiful … because it’s supposed to fall until 11:00 tonight and more is expected on saturday and sunday. also, as much as i love non-sleet-y/ice-y winter (a lot), i am now all about ease. shortcuts, not being hard on myself if the vacuuming doesn’t get done, weather that cooperates for walking outside, whatever makes life easier … that’s what i’m about. :)
good luck with the errand and bookcase anchoring (a clever, easy-sounding solution). especially hope you and don get plenty of rest and feel good!
and that you two and everyone else have an easy day. stay safe!
kathy

Hi Claudia! I have enjoyed your blog so much for many years, but I think I have only commented once… to give the name “Orange Man” to some discussion…ugh. But I now must insert a quick and profound THANK YOU to you ( and sorry it’s off subject) , but my brand new obsession and delight is Monty Don and the treasure trove of of garden love he brings into our home ! He is so delightful and inspirational. Makes this the most exciting spring ever! Just came home from a visit to the New York Botanical garden and now my head is crammed with all things horticultural. Best to you and many thanks for this blog!

So glad you enjoy Monty Don! I love him and the whole Gardener’s World gang.
Yay!
Stay safe, Cindy.

Oh, that wooden toys! My best friend brought me Pinoccio from her trip to Italy and it is hanging in my living room. I think it is same as yours, except different colour- red instead of yellow :-)
I would definetly frame that puzzle and hang it somewhere, it is fabulose!
Good luck with “surgery”, it is always nice to see your girls posing.
We had several spring-like days, warm and with some wind. But forecast for tommorow is rain, and even snow on Sunday. Oh, can’t wait for REAL spring
Best wishes to you and Don from Sarajevo, Bosnia.
Claudia says
We have a lot of snow coming tomorrow night, Sabina!
I feel the same way as you! I’m ready for spring.
Thanks so much, Sabina.
Stay safe.

Hope you don’t get too much snow, Claudia. We’re supposed to get something similar. It’s March! I know, March can be very snowy. My birthday is the 17th and I used to get quite indignant that it dared to snow on my birthday and it often did. But I wanted daffodils, forsythia, snow drops and green grass. One can hope. Good luck wearing your surgeon’s hat. I’m sure everything will go well. Don’t overdue the snow shovelling. Hugs, Elaine

Thanks so much, Elaine.

We got a good three inches last night and supposedly more today. It’s snowing now but not fast or too hard. Little flakes. Still, they mount up. A good day to stay in, paint, maybe start the Aggie puzzle! It wouldn’t kill me to start cleaning up the office again, either (or bring out my bunnies for a little spring cheer.) I like a day like this — despite the snow it is relatively bright with good light and that always helps. I’m thrilled we are returning to daylight time this weekend — I love it brighter later. I seem to shut down when it gets dark and while I don’t mind a late start, I hate an early end!
Have a wonderful weekend, Dr. F.

It always takes me a bit of time to recover from setting the clocks forward, however!
