Tired, But Still Going

January 14, 2017 at 10:03 am by Claudia

I’m tired. The schedule here has changed as we’ve moved into afternoon rehearsals and evening performances. So I’ve been a bit thrown off in terms of my sleep. It’s a wee bit harder to adjust to that kind of change nowadays. You know how it is; you come home, you have to wind down, you read a bit, maybe take a bath, and by the time you’re ready to turn in it’s more than two hours past your normal bedtime. Plus, the woman next door, who is an actress in the play, tends to go out with cast members every night after the show and I can hear her when she comes back to her apartment. That doesn’t help.

I well remember doing that very same thing, however, when I was younger. I routinely went out after an acting performance with my fellow cast mates. It’s a way to wind down, to talk about the show and how it’s going, to get to know each other. So I understand. I just don’t do it anymore and I need to sleep! (Looking forward to my bed and bedmate back home at the cottage. One more week.)

The show is going very well. There is still work to be done, of course, but the audiences are really enjoying it. Lots and lots of laughs last night. It’s a fast-paced production – 90 minutes in length, with no intermission – and the time just flies by.

This is what I’m gazing upon at the moment. I love this quilt and I don’t see it very often. So I’m trying to enjoy this time when I have lots of wall space on which to hang my quilts because they make me smile.

I have to run to the CVS this morning for a few things – it only stays open until noon on Saturdays. I’m hoping to get by without grocery shopping this week. I leave a week from today and I’m trying to use up all the perishable food I have on hand.

Because, you know, I have to pack all this STUFF again on Friday/Saturday and haul it all home.

Thanks for sharing happy things yesterday. I loved your lists.

Happy Saturday.

Love that quilt! I can’t remember…do you have it up at the cottage, or is it strictly a traveling quilt? I enjoyed all the positive comments yesterday. It reminded me, that while things out in the world may be…are…awry, things in our personal worlds are generally good. So we have a retreat so to speak, to go to…to escape to. Guess I needed that reminder! Enjoy your day! ;)

Traveling quilt. Not enough wall space at the cottage!

I watched a YouTube video this morning with the roaming musicians from the play. What fun it must be! Hopefully, one day, I will see one of Darko’s works. Have a fantastic day!

It seems we were just packing up with you ~ Christmas tree and all ~ and now it is time to pack and head home! This time of year it is nice to have busy weeks so they fly by quickly.

We are on the northern edge of that ice storm barreling through, so Monday morning sounds like it will be “interesting”. Not a fan of ice. Only in my ice-water.

So fun that the audiences are loving the production!! That is the reward for all of the hard work.
    Enjoy!!

Stay safe, Chris! No ice storms heading our way that I know of.

hope the week flies by for you, in a good way.

if there’s not enough wall space, maybe you could enjoy that quilt at home by draping it on a chair/sofa? or folding it around a pillow as a make-do and very pretty cover? adding it to a stack of throws/blankets kept close in the winter?

hope you all have a nice weekend!

I could do all those things, but I think they weaken the visual effect of the quilt. So I’ll just fold it nicely and store it until the next time!

Wow, a CVS that’s only open til noon on Saturdays? That sounds like my childhood, when most stores, even the grocery chains, closed at 9 on weeknights, 5 or 6 on Saturdays and weren’t open AT ALL on Sunday. Now most stores are 7 days a week and a few are even 24 hours – some of the fast food & coffee places in our region. I’m no expert, by I can’t imagine how this pays. And does it make energy-sense to be powered up 24/7? Oh well. I guess there have to be a few places to get coffee at 3 am. After all, we know Trump is up – LOL. Have a great weekend! ✨

That’s because Hartford is basically a commuter city and there’s not a lot that happens on the weekends here. But let me make a correction: I was wrong. It’s open until 3.

I, too, hope this week flies by for you. I missed the opportunity to comment on happy things in our lives yesterday, so here are mine: after needing a cane for more than two years, I just ordered split-sole dance tennis for my dance-related exercise class. Tomorrow, I hope to attend a preparatory meeting on how to demonstrate peacefully, and Monday I’ll be heading to a sign-making meeting in the middle of our very red tiny town in our very red big state. Then it’s off for an hour-long trip to the Austin march on Saturday. I’m worried about trying to walk in the middle of a group of (as of now) 21,000 people as maneuvering in tight spaces is still hard for me with my balance issues, but maybe that just means there are more people to hold me up if I start to fall! I’m not a Pollyanna. I know this won’t immediately change anything, but it’s all of us together saying, “No, this isn’t normal.”

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
