I’m never quite sure when Easter is, but I made sure to check the calendar yesterday and it’s not all that far off, is it?
Which brings me to egg cups, specifically, my collection of egg cups. For the past few years, I’ve highlighted the collection right around Easter. Many of you may be very familiar with it by now, which brings me to my question of the day. Should I share them again this year? Or is it a case of ‘been there, done that?’
I have a lot of them and I love them, but don’t let that influence you!
Happy Pi day on this March 14th! Coincidentally, we happen to have some apple pie in the house. So it stands to reason that said pie should be consumed today, don’t you think? We will sacrifice for Pi day.
It’s a rainy day here in the Hudson Valley. Go ahead rain, melt the snow! We have quite a bit of snow still on the ground but it’s definitely melting. We watch as the chairs on the funky patio start to show more of themselves. Oh, there’s the seat! I see some legs! Look, I see one of the pavers beneath the chair!
These are the kind of things that make us happy. The birdbath thawed. I hear the constant drip of running water from the gutters as the ice melts. There are even patches of grass emerging. It will take a while, as we had over three feet of snow on the ground, but it’s definitely happening.
The other day we heard birds singing.
Be still my heart.
I don’t kid myself about when I can get outside and do some garden clean up. That will be a few weeks away, at the very least. But it’s coming. It’s coming!
Don’t forget to answer my question of the day in the comment section.
Happy Saturday.
Doris says
Good Morning Claudia, we are starting to see the forgotten items in our yard also. We were happy to see the top of cement bench! I love seeing your egg cups so I vote show us! Have a great day. Doris
Claudia says
Thank you, Doris!
Annie says
I love the egg cups. They are so adorable. Yes.
Claudia says
Thank you, Annie!
Sandra says
I am a new reader and would love to see your egg cups. I am sure that they are as charming as all of the other bits and dabs that you share with us. You have an unerring eye for quaint and often whimsical accessories. It is a pleasure to share your finds and your keepers.
Claudia says
Oh, thank you for those kind words, Sandra.
Nancy in PA says
Yes to the egg cups. Anything that you write and photograph is interesting and educational.
Claudia says
Thanks, Nancy!
Chris k in Wisconsin says
Share, Claudia! Even though I have seen them in other posts, I ALWAYS see something new that I somehow missed. I just took my (few) egg cups out for display in the dining room this week. Always fun to move things around and let them be the “star” for a few weeks!!
Claudia says
Absolutely. It makes you see the objects with fresh eyes!
Melanie says
I adore egg cups, especially when they’re vintage and unique. I wouldn’t mind seeing them again! We’ve had a nice warm-up here too, though there’s still piles of snow on the ground in the places where the sun doesn’t directly hit. While out in my front yard yesterday, I have to say it looks so ugly in March. Piles of dirty snow and lots of mud. Oh well, by next month we can be out in the yard doing spring clean up and it will be pretty once again.
Claudia says
Oh yes. The dirty snow is not at all pretty!
Linda @ A La Carte says
Claudia, you know I share your love of egg cups and I always enjoy your posts on them so of course I say YES! Glad to hear that the snow is melting. It’s a rainy here today, but I need some rest (off my feet) today anyway, so staying home is good.
hugs,
Linda
Claudia says
Stay home and read, Linda!
Donnamae says
Oh yes…please show your egg cups! Everything out there in blog land is really getting monotonous…it’s the same thing from one blogger to another. Think I’ll be deleting more blogs from my email! We have just a couple small snow piles left…those on the northern side of the house. I know it’s gonna get cooler again…but it’s oh so enjoyable now! Enjoy your day! ;)
Claudia says
Slowly, but oh so slowly, our piles of snow are getting smaller. We still have a long way to go!
Liz says
Love the egg cups. We are visiting our daughter in Vermont right now (from Lincoln, NE) and went to an antique store in Montpelier the other day. I found six great egg cups – never can find them in Nebraska. Didn’t buy one, but sure wanted to.
Claudia says
Oh, I’m sorry you couldn’t buy them, Liz!
Barbara W. says
Definite yes! Such a pretty collection.
I haven’t any decorative egg cups, but we usually put out a basket of painted eggs at Easter. My daughter collects hand-painted eggs and nesting dolls from Russia and the Ukraine. Not my thing, but I must admit that some of the dolls are rather beautiful.
It was Friday the 13th with a vengeance at work yesterday, so I hadn’t a moment to comment on your cupcake photo. You ought to know that your photo had me quietly singing “Tiny cupcakes, in my dreams” to the tune of “Tiny bubbles” on the way to the courthouse in the morning.
Claudia says
Now I’m singing it!
Kathy says
My vote is yes for the egg cups!
Claudia says
Okay. Thank you, Kathy!
Susie says
Claudia, I want to get outside and dig and clean too. It’s too wet and soggy. I love your egg cup collection. You could tell us your favorite or the oldest. It’s interesting. :) Blessings, xoxo,Susie
Claudia says
Thank you, Susie!
Judy Clark says
So glad your snow is beginning to melt. I was beginning to wonder if you would ever see the ground again. I say yes to seeing your egg cups again.
Judy
Claudia says
It still seems a long way off – seeing the ground, I mean. We’re getting peeks, but just peeks. xo
Janet in Rochester says
I vote for egg cups too. I don’t think I’ve heard all the stories. And even if I had, I’m a bit like a little kids as far as stories go. I never mind hearing good ones over and over again. Enjoy your day – hope the melting continues…
Claudia says
Fingers crossed, Janet. The temps look to be in the 40s and 50s this coming week. Hurrah!
LuvWheaties says
I always enjoy seeing your collections, and egg cups seem to be perfect to highlight at this time of year.
It’s 95 in Anaheim, but should be back in the 70s (which is perfect) by mid-week. I have had to turn on the air conditioning during the day, although it is cool at night. Please spring, don’t let summer bully you into not showing up!
Claudia says
Oh my goodness! 95 at this time of year in Southern California? Too hot. I’m glad the temps are going to get back down to normal soon!
Wendy TC says
Rain melting snow….send some of that water out west, please! Would love an egg cup post. I have some egg cups that I used when my daughters were very young. And then there is the unusual egg cup gifted to me from a friend who didn’t know what egg cups were for. It’s a sake cup, into which a small egg would sort of fit, but not a chicken’s egg. Happy Pi(e) Day.
Claudia says
I wish I could send you lots and lots of water, Wendy. I have a questionable egg cup or two – one is, I think, a toothpick holder, but I call it an egg cup, You’ll see it soon.
Jane Price says
Yes! You should share your egg cups. After all, we don’t get to see them every day. And if one’s memory is as grey as mine, it’s almost as though seeing it for the first time.
Glad that snow is melting. There’s just so much of it, I hope it doesn’t flood.
Spring is comin’…………………….
jane-in-tx
Claudia says
I’m sure there will be some flooding around here as we’re right by two rivers. But our house is up on a hill and therefore, we’re safe. Just crossing my fingers that everyone else is and that no damage occurs.
Lily says
I love the photo of your colorful egg cups! Would love to see ALL of your egg cups grouped together! :) Now that would make a really awesome photo for Easter!I love seeing colorful collections of any kind all grouped together…
Have a great Saturday, Claudia!
Claudia says
Thank you, Lily!
Shelia says
Oh, these are just the cutest egg cups I’ve ever seen! I want them all! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Claudia says
I’m crazy about them – I’m glad you like them, too!
Pat says
We had our share of snow this year… but nothing like y’all!
The past 2 weeks has been really wet, dreary, foggy, rainy…
so we haven’t gotten out to work in the yard yet. But it needs it!
I love seeing your egg cups, I love seeing all your lovelies in your home.
Why? because I don’t think you re-hash the same photos over and over again– (I’m guilty of that…especially, if I take a good one!) hahaha…
You seem to look at your subject and photograph it differently each time– so sharing is always new.
The egg cups at MHC at Spring time… a tradition! I like certain traditions.
So YES! BRING ‘EM ON!
Claudia says
Thank you, Pat!
Kim says
It’s an Easter tradition! Yes to the egg cups!
Claudia says
Thanks, Kim!
Sandra says
Claudia, I too love seeing your egg cups and reading the stories behind them. I vote YES. You can throw in the wall pockets too, they always remind me of spring. Glad you are starting to thaw out. Sandra in Oregon
Claudia says
Slowly but surely, we’re thawing out, Sandra! Thanks!
Tana says
I love your egg cups and would love to see them all again! I think it was last year I made some of the fabric eggs you have and gave us the link. I put some of them in my egg cups last Easter and they looked adorable. Planning on doing that again. I also put out a basket with plain brown wooden eggs and plain hay, and a basket of smocked eggs. Lots of eggs around here for Easter.
Claudia says
Those fabric eggs are awfully fun. I’ll have to put them out this year, Tana.
Barbara says
I vote yes on the Egg Cups. I’ve never used an egg cup or had a poached egg but you are right, they are cute. Therefore, show ’em off.
Claudia says
Thanks, Barbara!
Vicki says
I don’t know anything about egg cups. Your collection is darling.
I loved hearing you describe ‘the thaw;’ I could hear it and feel it and see it.
Claudia says
The thaw is beyond welcome, Vicki. Even though today (Sunday) is gray and windy, the thaw is still happening, so I’m content.
Debbie in Oregon says
A definite yes to your annual egg cup post(s)!!! Another commenter mentioned you sharing your favorite(s) … I think that would make an “eggcellent” post for Easter Sunday!
Claudia says
Good idea, Debbie! Thank you.
Nancy in PA says
“Questionable egg cups.” What a great concept. Please do a post on those alone.
Nancy Blue Moon says
Do I want to see your egg cups again???..YES I DO!!…lol..
Mary @ 120 Spring Street says
I love your egg cups and want to see them. Bringing them out this time of year is a wonderful tradition.

Linda @ Itsy Bits And Pieces says
I love your egg cup collection, Claudia…so charming!
Karen says
Hello, Claudia!
I vote YES for the egg cups! Love them! I like the background story and name of each of the holders. I have a few a need to put them all together like yours. Does that mean I should go shopping for a shelf or small glass cabinet for the wall? YES! I enjoy your purchases, etc. Thanks for sharing.
