Trees, Rocks & Pine Cones

May 4, 2011 at 9:15 am by Claudia

One of my favorite trees back home is our Weeping Willow. At this time of year, the new growth is the perfect shade of apple green. But I’ve lucked out. This is what I see from my window here in the condo:

Isn’t it pretty? There’s another willow off in the distance. And these beauties are to my right:

I can’t complain about the view.

Rehearsals started yesterday and boy, are there a lot of new faces and names to remember. I still get confused each time I turn a corner in the main building. I constantly get lost. My job here involves coaching Blithe Spirit, teaching classes to the apprentices, and looking in on another show, Crime and Punishment. Yesterday, I listened to the read-through of C & P. Today, we start on Blithe Spirit. Next week, I begin teaching. Yikes. I have a lot of prep to do in the meantime.

I’m so tired at the end of the day that I fall asleep watching television.

I made my favorite biscuits yesterday without a biscuit cutter or a cookie sheet or a proper mixing bowl. A stockpot became the bowl and a casserole pan became the cookie sheet. I needed some comfort food. Much to my surprise, it worked.

I found these outside my front door:

I love pine cones.

And a pretty little heart shaped rock.

Bird’s nest update: Still no sign of potential nesters. I’ll keep you posted.

More later.

Claudia, I love your positive attitude. Sit you down in a new place and you find all kinds of wonderful things to write about.

I am hoping that no birds are occupying the nest. That would be a beautiful rememberence of your time in Wisconsin.

It sounds like you are settling in nicely.

    Hi Claudia,

Looks like a pretty view from your window. When I lived in Germany I had to make due with odds and ends to make certain meals, so your tale of cooking adventures reminds me of that.

    Hugs,
    Meri

Seems like you’re settling in well. And busy as a bee! When you have a little downtime and aren’t checking out the town, we’ll have some nice phone chats.

Hubby makes our biscuits and he just turns a drinking glass upside down and cuts the biscuits. Works like a charm!

Love the willow trees! What a great view you have there!

It is comforting to locate something familiar when you find yourself in a new place. Then home doesn’t seem so far away.

Your weeping willow shot reminded me of the one that used to be in the back yard of my grandparents house. That tree was huge, probably very old as well. The feathery willows hung down so low, it was a glorious place to play. What a nice memory.

You are so creative, Claudia. Sounds all good to me!

Love the spring weeping willows, too. Was so sad when the one in our view ‘left us’. Your views are just gorgeous!

How can you settle your mind to work with that wonderful view to distract you?! And for a self-confessed ‘non cook’ you certainly seem to have done pretty well in the cookie department, even without the proper stuff! Go girl!

Thank you , your post was encouraging. It reminded me that every uncomfortable moment and irregularity in life is only an oppertunity in waiting.

I needed to be reminded of that today.

Claudia, there is something about a Weeping Willow tree. The house I grew up in had one in the front yard and they mean HOME to me. I am so glad you have one in your view. The heart shaped rock is sweet. Sounds like the work is going to keep you busy! I am planting rescue perennials Lowe’s and Walmart have marked down. They usually thrive. hugs♥O

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
