Tuesday Potpourri

January 4, 2022 at 9:46 am by Claudia

Just one more reminder that the email version of this post is no longer consistently delivered and it can go out any time – usually much, much later than I publish it. Please consider getting in the habit of just coming to the blog directly. I always published the post by 11 am, usually by 10 am.

That’s your public service announcement for today.

It is VERY cold here. For some reason last night, I couldn’t get warm when I went to bed. So I didn’t get as much sleep as I would have liked. Maybe it’s the sudden change from relatively mild temperatures to very cold weather. I’ll eventually get used to it.

Friday’s forecast has changed from 3-5 inches of snow to 1 inch. We have some rain coming Wednesday and Sunday, but no snow in sight on the long range forecast which goes to January 18th. We did not get hit with the snow that the coast did – that storm went right up the coast and we’re inland so we were spared.

One of Don’s birthday gifts to me:

He had a mug made for me with a picture of my director’s chair from the movie set. I did grab the canvas with my name on it. (We all did.) It’s on the wall in the office.

I’ve started the Jane Austen puzzle, but I didn’t start it until late in the day yesterday, so I just got all the edge pieces in place. More today. I’ve been experiencing some anxiety lately and working on a puzzle is a pleasant way to make that go away.

It’s sunny today. I can’t tell you how much we need it!

And finally, these arrived in the mail yesterday:

Yellow! They’re made by CraftyCora. She lives in Connecticut, which is refreshing since most of the stuff I order for the girls comes from other countries. There just isn’t a whole lot available here – based on what I’ve discovered so far. Cora does impeccable work. I have the same pair in green and I suspect I’ll order more.

I don’t know how she does it!

Stay safe.

Happy Tuesday.

Yellow shoes! Lovely! Since she has so many sisters, I’ll bet she won’t be the only one to wear them. My older sisters left for school before me in the mornings, and I was the first one home in the afternoon, so when they left in the morning I would raid their closet. I would be able to put stuff back before they got home. Didn’t ever tell them about this till long after we were grown.

They definitely have to share around here.

I love your story about raiding your sisters’ closet, Tana!

We had sun yesterday and today, too. And oh, yes — do we need it!

I love that mug to the max! How clever of Don to pick that particular photo — it’s so perfect and belongs on a mug. And I’m glad that you got to keep your canvas back. Well deserved! Cozy in and puzzle! (I know what you mean about cold last night — here, too. I finally heated up the beanbags and stuck them in the bed with me. It helped.)

Rain and sleet here today. I guess we were only allowed one day of sun…

      Hope you’re feeling better, Linda!

    great gifts from don!

i didn’t want to ask about the chair seat-back from your work on the movie in case you didn’t get to keep it, so am happy for you to have it and it’s up on a wall … great souvenir of a neat experience and job well done!

sweet little yellow shoes. job well done by cora, too.

not to wish it on other people, but i’m glad the tougher weather is not by you.

do you have a cloth bag with rice, walnut shells (or whatever is in it) that can be safely microwaved over and over to warm up your bed? my sweet mother made some for me and they help a lot. if my feet are warm, then i am comfy enough to fall asleep.

hope you are having a nice, safe day (everyone).

What a lovely gift and so happy you were able to have the back!! Certainly something to cherish. Do you know, does the movie come out in ’22 or ’23? Will you be attending the premiere do you think?? Oh, what fun.

It is actually 30* here today. Hubs is taking the outside lights/ wreaths down. Still haven’t done any de-decorating inside yet. Hope you are having a good day. Take care.

I’m not sure when the movie will come out. Hopefully, this year. Premiere – not sure – especially in the world of COVID. We didn’t have an official wrap party either – because of COVID protocols. Plus, I’m shy.

      Stay safe, Chris.

Oh, I surely get the “shy” part. And in company like that I would crawl under a table, curl up and rock.

Stay warm and safe. It’s getting crazy in NW CT again. Everyone is fighting for rapid tests. I’m staying home! :)

We’re staying home, too. We have two free tests in the cupboard. Our town passed them out one day and Don managed to snag one.

      Stay safe, Betsy.

Nice to be able to read your blog again. Here in Nevada City, Ca we had a heavy wet snow December 26th. That night our power went out. It just came back on today….8 1/2 days! Broken trees and power poles everywhere. Doing laundry and getting all the snow out of the refrigerator and freezer. It has been a blur of a week. Took my Christmas decorations down but still have my tree up, naked. I feel I need just a bit more Christmas in these very dark days.

Oh, Janet! How terrible for you! 8 1/2 days without electricity is horrible.

Glad you have power again. Yes, keep those lights up!

      Stay safe.

Well aren’t the shoes too cute! I am glad you held them in your hand to show the scale. I am not familiar with the Blythe dolls and I love learning about them and seeing their expressions in your posts. Not to mention the fashions as well!

Oh, those yellow shoes! I am picturing all your girls wearing different color shoes. It must be so much fun to dress them.
I wondered about your chair…I’m glad you got to keep the back.
We should be getting a storm tomorrow. 4 to 9 inches I’ve heard. I hope we are on the low end of that.
    Take care and stay warm

The thing about Blythe dolls is that the heads are big and the bodies are small. Hence, the tiny shoes.

      Stay safe, Janette.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
