Scout alerted me to the presence of 6 wild turkeys crossing the back of our property. I ran for the camera but the turkeys moved too quickly for me to get a clear picture. I was, however, able to get this picture of Scout. She has fixed her border collie stare on the intruders. “How dare they? Get off my property!” Once they went on their way, she knew her job was done. Ever vigilant, Scout is a great watchdog. Riley, on the other hand, barks when Scout barks. Most of the time, he is unaware of the comings and goings on our property. Although I have seen him snap to attention when he spies some deer.
Proof that spring is here – our daffodils that sprout on the edge of the woods are just about to bloom. This particular daffodil is always the earliest bloomer. I can’t wait to see blossoms everywhere. In the meantime, I have been raking and cleaning up the garden beds. I see signs of rebirth everywhere, although some of last years plants look like they didn’t make it through the winter. Normally, I plant the first week of May, but it looks like I’ll be out of town on business for a while. I guess I will have to wait until I get back – but I am determined to have my hanging plants in place on the porch before I go!

Hi Claudia,
Just wanted to stop by to say hello and catch up a bit. I hope all is well with you.
I love the picture of Scout. He’s a beautiful dog. I love his name too! Our dog, Tobi, will be 14 years old in June. She very seldom barks at all and when she does it’s just a low woof. No watch dog there!! lol
We have been having beautiful weather this week in VA but tonight it is raining and getting cool again. Our daffodils have already bloomed and died out. Don’t you just love spring and seeing the earth come to life again?
Come visit when you get a chance. I finally got a post up!
Hugs,
Hope

Totally jealous— We’re wrapped up in a blizzard in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and are religious taught not to plant before Memorial Day… We have a mutt that thinks he’s a labrador loves to hunt.

OK — I don’t have your email– but we are both ‘on-line’ at the same time, so others will just have to join in the chat. Something so incredibly corny happened. Being from Michigan, I think maybe you’ll understand. I’ve lived here for over 20 years– But this week for the first time “I” drove across the Mackinac Bridge in the driver seat. I was so proud of myself — I don’t really like driving much less when heights or the confines of a bridge are involved. I called a friend and they told me…”Only real women ride the grates on the Mackinac”… Well, coming home I Did it!!!! Granted it was because the right lane was closed and I had no choice— but it goes in the record books…I am now a real woman… You’re grinning right now, I just know it… Keep in Touch— From Covered Porches.
