On this day, 28 years ago, I met this guy.
We’ve been together ever since.
And here are our children:
(Don said that this morning when he brought me my cup of coffee. As he left the den, he gestured toward the dolls and said “Our children.”)
A little levity for you today.
Stay safe.
Happy Monday.

You had all your kids late in life, but you seem to be handling it well!!
Congratulations on your anniversary of the day you met.

Good one! and a very Good Day!
One day after school my child’s teacher pulled me aside and asked if I only had one – I said yes. At home I looked at the drawing she had made of her family and asked her who were all the others. Oh, she said, those are my Barbies.
I know I’m digressing in life now – I finally remembered to switch the spoken language after watching the whole episode of Borgen last night in Danish with cc in English.
So glad you have expanded your family as well. Happy 4th & Meetup Day. The best!!

Happy meet day, Claudia and Don! My late husband has a similar shirt to Don’s, only his was black with a red 45 rpm adapter.

Don looks great for his age; healthy and slim. I love that you’re such a happy couple; it’s very heartwarming. I’m glad you share what you feel; spread the joy; it’s contagious!
Thanks for indeed a bit of levity as it wasn’t calming to awake on the holiday morning and learn about what happened (tragedy) in Illinois at the parade (Highland Park; north shore Chicago; I know of the place, as I babysat for years for a family whose peeps were in Glencoe and Highland Park; very nice areas from what I was led to understand [I’ve never been there myself]). In my neck ‘o the woods, we have a community festival (annual goings-on for summer) and our County fair upcoming soon; is definitely pause for thought, go or not; the crowd settings, not withstanding Covid as well in terms of safety. But we must combat fear; we win, not them. We are a people meant to be happy, free, safe and independent; especially on this day of all days for our country.
Today, yes, you and Don have a double holiday! And I have a cooler afternoon of low 80s (finally out of the 90s); will enjoy the moments and memories of other Fourths, with treasured family and good fun; childhood(!); my aunt’s red & white checked tablecloths on the outside rustic picnic tables with her blue (antique) spatterware platters heaped high with buttery corn-on-the cob cooked on the outdoor grill; exhaustively churning/hand-cranking the vanilla ice cream which we’d ‘doctor up’ with our own assortment of goodies after it was individually bowled up for us; muffled sounds of the gathered adults while we kids (tons of kids!) ran around, wearing ourselves out, getting wet in the yard sprinklers or portable pool in the earlier hot afternoon, playing hide ‘n seek or croquet on the lawn toward evening while the sun was still out but fading. Nightfall indeed to come, the warm evenings and a lot of anticipation for twinkly sparklers in our hands, and a few colorful whooshing ‘fountains’ with acceptable fireworks noise punctuating the atmosphere (no big ‘bombs’ going off in those days unless you attended a professional pyrotechnics event). But among the happiest of times to be remembered! Feels like storybook stuff, and I’ll take it!
