Under the Hosta

May 27, 2012 at 8:47 am by Claudia

Adorableness. I love chipmunks. This little guy has been spotted several times lately in the garden. Having a chipmunk around the garden makes me happy. Right before I took this picture, he was darting around, sometimes on a rock, sometimes over by the patio. I grabbed my camera and shot this through the living room window.

A shelter under the hosta leaf…very Beatrix Potter, don’t you think? Perhaps he has a little home under that canopy, with a little bed and a fireplace and a cozy chair or two.

I’ll be careful not to disturb those leaves.

Happy Sunday.

Our granddaughters have each created a Fairy Garden in the saucers that usually go under a clay pot. They have lots of chippies and I suspect those little critters frequent the Fairy Gardens for a rest from time to time.
    Happy Sunday, Claudia.

So sweet! I really, really want to believe that he has a little bed, fireplace, and cozy chair under there… and that he wears little glasses and smokes a little pipe.

Oh- isn’t he cute? We don’t have any chipmunks at this house. We used to have them when we lived in town and I just adored watching them. I hope he has a sweet little family tucked away there somewhere- xo Diana

Well, everyone else who’s commented from Texas has said it, “we don’t have chipmunks down here.” They are so tiny, I thought they’d be larger, more like squirrels!
    Have a wonderful weekend!

Cute, cute Claudia. Joe just saw a chip monk on the walking trail (he walks 3 miles a day and I putter with the flowers). Have a terrific week.

Such a cute little feller! Chipmunks are probably like squirrels: I know squirrels were bigger when I was a kid!

Claudia, how adorable is that, lucky to get a picture because they are very spritely! Yes, Miss Potter would have penned a lovable to all generations story…….and Mrs. Tiggy Winkle and Peter R would have joined in most likely!

I’m going to check under my hostas – perhaps I’ll have a surprise too!

    Hugs – Mary

Claudia – I LOVE your little Chip! Now if you want him eating out of your hand – literally – get some unsalted peanuts in the shell! We sat out on the patio this weekend and some of our Chip’s were leaping into our laps to be fed. They are the most delightful little creatures!!… Donna (who you once dubbed “the Chip Whisperer”!!)

They are cute…except when they shimmy up your fruit trees and steal all your peaches and then start on your plums :)

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
