Unexpected Snags

October 17, 2022 at 9:51 am by Claudia

Back at it with another puzzle.

Well, yesterday was a tough one for my husband. His camera didn’t work right and try as he might he couldn’t fix it. I’m sure he’ll eventually figure it out, but the day was a bust. I tried to get him to come home, but he stayed there, hoping he’d be able to make it work.

And to top it off, while he was there, he got a message that his eye doctor has Covid, so his appointment for today was canceled. He canceled a previous appointment and enough time has passed that he needs the shot asap.

He was pretty down when he came home.

So our flurry of activity to delay our booster shots to Wednesday so he could go to the retina specialist today was for nought.

Update: he called the doctor’s office at 9 and he has an appointment for Saturday. It’s still a long time to wait, but sooner than expected.

I was all set to mow today but then, as the sun started to come up, I saw that it was raining. Drat!

Plus, I accidentally got locked out of the blog for 30 minutes this morning, so I’m posting late.

What else? I’m going to try to work on my sewing machine(s) today and see if I can figure out what’s wrong. I really don’t want to invest any money in a new machine – even if it’s inexpensive, which it would be. I’d rather use what I have, for goodness sake! A rainy day is perfect for going on up to the studio and dragging out my machines.

Don is making some concoction for breakfast as I write this. It smells good, whatever it is. I think it involves eggs. Yummy!

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

Wow. Hope the appointments work out. Despite all the bloggers who disagree, Covid is alive. On another note. My sweet daughter who reads hundreds of in the hand books and e books for publishers and authors, set a goal for herself for 2022
The year of her 50th birthday which was July.
Read one book published in each year she has been born. Fiction
Read one middle high school book the same. She was an elementary teacher before her children came. Then she has home schooled all three.
Read 50 nonfiction. Year of published not relevant
    She is on target
She is reading some books I liked/authors she has never read
James Patterson and I used to like D Steel
This young woman is quite a person.
She is a quick reader like her mom so that has helped. She does read more genres than I do.
    Hope your day goes well.
I used to see clothes for this daughter on my Singer years ago
I made her doll clothes also but by hand. Easier that way.
I gave away my last machine in 1992 and never looked back.
    Enjoy

sorry for those troubles. better days are ahead!

the new puzzle looks fun. am sure you will enjoy it and the breakfast!

i am glad that my landlord will take out the air conditioner and turn on the heat this morning because it is quite chilly here! i have baseboard radiators (by far not my favorite style, but am grateful they provide heat) and leave them open all year because i can’t control the temperature. anyway, once that’s done, i can get on with the day.

hope everyone is comfortable and safe and has an easy day!

      air conditioner removal will wait.

landlord just went to get the a-c from my next door neighbor’s place and found him … passed on. he had shot himself.

prayers are very much appreciated for sam, his parents and the rest of his family, including his two cats. thank you very much.

i am very sad for sam and for his family … a nice young man (barely 30) who was always super-friendly and helped me many times over the five years i’ve been here. may God rest his soul and comfort his family.

      i am very sad.

Kathy so sad to hear of your neighbor. Prayers for his family. He must of done a good job of hiding what was troubling him. RIP Sam.

We never know what someone else is going through, do we? Prayers for all of you.

        Much love,

what i feel is pretty bad and that’s valid, of course, but is also nothing compared to what his family is going through. :(

Snags, feeling down, disappointment(s), frustration, etc.
I certainly relate to all the above on this fine Monday morning. Were it not for an appointment shortly after noon today, I’d be tempted to go back to bed and pull the covers over my head.
Oy. All will pass, and hopefully once in the rear-view mirror it will look much less daunting than it does right now.
Apologies for being such a downer today, and thank you for letting me verbalize a wee bit.

    Stay safe & well.

dear Claudia/Don — sorry re troubles w/dr/camera, etc!! unexpected snags are the worst !! I am a list maker (for everything) but really hate for the plan to fall apart, ha! I do not readjust very well when things don’t work out like I think they should — don’t like to “punt” and begin again. hope life will be better/calmer soon. one thing I really hate — have always hated is sewing, so no help from me on that, haha!! stay safe/healthy

Covid is alive and well. My brother-in-law, who we were with for the last week, has Covid. Now I am feeling so bad today I can hardly write this. My test says negative but I have something nasty. I need chicken soup! I think Gracie and I are going back to bed! Take care.

I’m glad Don was able to get an appointment quickly.
Is there a small appliance/ vacuum repair place near you? I usually get good results on my elderly machine by taking all the bobbin parts out to clean thoroughly and then oil. If that doesn’t work I have used the vacuum repairman. He’s been able to fix it every time at a very fair price. 🤞🏻
Tomorrow will be a better day!

I don’t think it’s worth it. I’m not going to sew any clothes – it’s not something I have in my skill set.

      Stay safe, Betsy.

Fabulous puzzle, Claudia! That’ll be a fun one.

I’m so sorry Don had such a downer day. No one wants those and the thing with the eye doc is insult added to injury (though better to cancel than chance it… still). Glad the appointment is rebooked. And not too far off now.

Eggs. What would I do without eggs? I love them!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
