Tree’s still up. More bokeh. This is a Vintage by Crystal Santa sitting on a bell.
The tree is feeling a bit dry. But just a bit. We’re aiming for Sunday, the 12th. For now, it’s still heavenly seeing those lights throughout the day.
WIND. All day yesterday. More today. I am so over it! It seems as if we’ve been deluged with wind and fog in December and January.
I was trying to take pictures of the interior of the Lake House. which is all dark wood. Add to that the fact that it’s on top of the china cabinet in the den. It’s a real challenge.
Anyway, I’m showing this to remind you of the very high ceiling in the living room. With beams. It’s such a cool handmade, one-of-a-kind house. All of the furnishings are from my stash, which isn’t all that large, by the way. Note to self: I need to put some logs in that fireplace.
We’ve been watching Shrinking on Apple+. I took advantage of a free trial so we could watch it. Oh my, it’s fabulous! It’s a comedy about psychiatrists starring Jason Segal and Harrison Ford. The entire cast is excellent. The scripts are wonderfully written. It’s so good to see an intelligent comedy series. Harrison Ford is such a damn good actor. He takes risks, he makes it look easy, but trust me – it isn’t. It’s hard work.
I kept forgetting to share this with you, but if you’re interested in the ‘turkey’ that we eat on Thanksgiving and Christmas, this is the box it comes in:
We don’t like Tofurkey – the texture is rubbery. This, on the other hand, is so good! And that stuffing is mouth-watering. Included in the package is veggie gravy. Gardein is based in Canada.
Okay. We have to brave the cold to buy some groceries and return a book to the library.
For all those living in or near the wildfires in Pacific Palisades and Malibu – please evacuate and stay safe. We have many friends in that area.
Stay safe.
Happy Wednesday.
The library is on my agenda today, too. Finished a book last night and I have a book waiting for me. We had a lot of wind yesterday, especially last night. Your tree looks so nice. It’s good to have some extra sparkle for as long as it’ll last. That turk’y roast sounds very appetizing. I’m going to see if I can find it in any stores around here.
Thanks so much, Barrie.
Stay safe.
I am so over this cold. It’s the same every day – highs from 20-23 – and low teens at night. The Christmas snow is long gone so we just have brown grass and morning frost to look at. Starting to dream about all the changes we want to make in the garden this year.
We’ve watched “Shrinking” since it began and it IS wonderful. I’m so in love with Jessica Williams as Gabby. I loved her back when she was on the Daily Show too. And eventually Liz began to grow on me too. It’s amazing the journey these characters have all been on these past three seasons.
Take care,
Kay
It’s frigid out there!
I love Jessica Williams. She’s wonderful.
Thanks, Kay.
Stay safe.
It is so scary here in the LA area. Never seen it this bad 😞
It’s just keeps getting worse. Prayers definitely needed.
I know so many people who live there; fellow actors, producers, former students. Many have been evacuated.
Prayers.
Stay safe, Debbie!
I think I’ll leave my tree up longer next year. I thought about removing the colored lights, just leaving the white lights and decorating with silver and white ornaments for winter. Have a great day, keep warm!
Thank you, Leslie! It’s absolutely freezing here.
Stay safe.
That roast does look yummy. It’s cold and a bit icy here but no snow. I’ve been busy reading The Grey Wolf by Louise Penny. I didn’t want to put it down and it’s exciting all the way through.
Hope your friends are safe in CA.
I do, too. It’s horrific there.
Stay safe, Ellen.
I love the Lake House — but you’re right. You do need logs!
And the bokeh is going well. Your “Crystal” makes for a good model!
Perfect size!
Stay safe, Jeanie.
Hi Claudia! I Adore the perfect “imperfection” of those old hand made houses. The Lake House is such a unique example of some unknown person’s careful thoughtful work. That the wood has darkened with age is true to the nature of so many of those old Lake Houses… not made for year round living, very basic and often open plan living before it was a “thing”. I really love that you are being careful and honoring its character and simplicity and antiquity. I think it has so much “spirit” Thank you for sharing the pics! I truly love it!
Oh, thank you, Betsy! Your words mean a great deal to me!
Stay safe.
