I have to be honest with you; the vase on the left just knocks my socks off. I am so in love with it. Is that wrong?
Don’t care.
My eye is drawn to it as I sit here in my blogging chair. I must look at it fifty times a day. And I’m more and more aware of what an amazing find this one was. When I first shared this vase with you, I mentioned that one of my reference books said it was hard to find but worth looking for. I was aware of that and I was also aware that in the 14 or so years I’ve been collecting McCoy, I have never seen it anywhere.
Recently I joined a group of McCoy collectors on Facebook. When I posted a photo of this newest acquisition, I had comments from many collectors saying how rare it was to find this vase. One of the members is a well known McCoy collector and expert and she couldn’t believe my luck or timing or whatever you want to call it. I think, in this case, that timing was everything. I was clearly the only person who had my eye on this – all the way through two separate listings. Someone asked me whether it had been listed as McCoy because sometimes we collectors find treasures because the seller doesn’t really know what they have. No, I said, the seller listed it as McCoy and even showed a picture of the McCoy mark on the bottom. How to explain my good fortune? Timing. And sheer luck.
I am absolutely head-over-heels in love with this vase. I’ve left it on the little spinet desk in the den because I think it looks sort of perfect there.
It rained off and on yesterday and we had a big old thunderstorm last night. It’s very humid, which I could do without, but the rain was desperately needed. I spent much of the day upgrading the operating system on my Macbook Pro – something that needed to be done, but gosh, does it take a long time! While I was at it, I cleaned up the desktop on the Mac, changed to desktop photo to a pink peony and generally spruced things up.
Today, I’m off to Hartford for the last day of my work on Kiss Me Kate. That means four hours of driving. But I get to see a preview of the show and I’m really excited to hear it with full orchestra and an audience.
Happy Sunday.

I agree…it was destiny that led you to that vase! Didn’t realize how much bigger it is compared to the others pictured…it’s stunning! Safe travels today…we’ve got storms coming in later, so must go move my planters. When they predict hail…I take no chances! ;)

The vase truly is spectacular, especially with the other two with it. You can really appreciate the size next to them. Drive safely, and enjoy the performance.

Tons of rain here, very humid and quite warm. Looking forward to drier weather this week. My allergies and headaches flare up in this weather, not to mention my hair being one big frizz ball! ;-) Safe travels to and from Hartford; I’m sure the drive will be worth it to see the performance.

Now you have me singing the song “If loving you is wrong I don’t wanna be right” The vase is a real eye catcher. I would be in love too.

I didn’t realize the size of that vase when you first showed it. Stunning!!
We just went from the world of PC to us each getting a MacBook Air. Lots and lots to learn…. old dog, new tricks. Just opened them up yesterday and we seem to be moving along OK. So much to learn!!
Hope you have a productive day today! Safe travels…

That vase is really stunning! So happy that you acquired it! I find my eye drawn to it in the photos so I can only imagine how gorgeous it is in person. Enjoy your day and ‘Kiss Me Kate’!!

Your ‘new’ McCoy is stunning! I didn’t realize from the first time I saw it…that is was so large,in comparison with your other pieces. It is lovely to look at. That color is just soothing isn’t it.
I don’t have a Mac or Macbook…but I do have a hard-drive on the way for another computer–it will be a bit better than my current pc-
I must say… I don’t like messing around with all the ins and outs of computers. But it is a necessity
Have a safe drive… and enjoy the show!

Yuck – four hours of driving. I loathe car trips longer than 30 minutes when I’m the driver. And I don’t like flying, for the usual reasons people don’t like flying. And lately even trains, which I’ve always thought of as the old-fashioned, romantic way to travel, are making me nervous. So I can’t wait for the next Steve Jobs to figure out how we can “beam” ourselves around – LOL. Travel safely and all the best for the entire case and crew of “Kiss Me Kate.” :>)

The McCoy stars aligned for you, what can we say? Drive safe, but have fun in Hartford doing your thing. Wish we had some rain…just teasing dark gray clouds, but no precipitation.
Nancy in PA says
Is that vase on steroids or something?
If it were mine, I would stick a couple of googly eyes on the top ring.

That vase was like a lost child finding its way home! Drive with care and enjoy the show. Kate is one of my favorites.

The McCoy piece is larger than I realized!
