The opening night performance went really well. I made an appearance at the party afterward, then came home. I think I was asleep by a little after one in the morning. At 2:30, I shot awake to the sound of the fire alarm going off. We all had to vacate the building. I blearily grabbed my phone, my purse and my laptop. I did the same thing when a fire alarm went off here a month ago. Yes, that’s twice during my stay. Oh, and let’s not count the alarm going off at home. I wrote about it in a post earlier this week. Fire trucks came to the house, fire trucks (3 of them) came to the hotel. Lots of firefighters carrying long hoses. Thankfully, all is well.
At the moment, I’m trying to come out of my stupor so that I can get a move on. Have to finish packing. Poor Don worked very late last night and has to come get me this morning. I’m sort of sad, leaving this suite….it’s been rather nice. No lawns to mow, dogs to attend to, cleaning to do, other needs to take into account. Just me, my laptop, some books to read, the occasional television program. It is a luxury that I don’t take for granted.
Nevertheless, I’m glad to be going home. My husband, doggies and garden await. I wonder if those peonies have started blooming?
Happy Saturday.

My Mom and I went to London years ago on our first overseas trip. The first night the fire alarm went off in the hotel 3 times!
enjoy being home, hope your garden lifts your spirits!

This has happened to me on several occasions. Once we had to take the steps down to the lobby ……16 floors, it took forever. Sure made me think of 9/11 and all those floors those survivors took.
It will take a little time to adjust to being home but you will be so glad to be there.

That happened to me once when David and I were staying at a posh resort (before the economy took a downturn). He was out playing golf. I was in the shower after working out in the gym. I had to quickly grab a towel and a robe, grab our Yorkie and out the door. The fire trucks showed up ~ false alarm. Yet there I was left standing with wet hair wearing nothing but a bathrobe and a pup under my arm. So much for a relaxing afternoon!
Have a great weekend. I hope your peonies are blooming for you. Mine are just starting.
Hugs,
Susan and Bentley

Now thats what I need… A nice hotel for about a week where I don’t have to clean, take care of the dogs, do laundry or anything else but I think I’ll skip the fire drill..LOL..

Yes, those are my words too, “What a rude awakening.” I bet it really did startle you. It is nice to spend time in the lap of luxury for a short time, but then we must go back to life which isn’t all that bad.

That is always so scary when an alarm of any kind goes off- fire, security, sump pump, etc. Especially so when it happens at night. I am glad you had some downtime but I am glad taht you are going home too. I wonder if all those rocks you picked multiplied while you were away? xo Diana

I’ve been evacuated from hotels on several occasions – so upsetting, especially in the night! Thankfully all was well where you were staying.
Yes, sometimes it’s nice to be away from the chores and messy work always waiting at the house…..but it WILL be fabulous to be back with all those dearest to you – I just know they’ve missed you so much.
When you’ve caught up, show us the peonies, the grass, the dogs, the doll house…….but not Don in the kitchen, LOL!!!!
Hugs dear one – welcome home.

I tend to panic when the fire alarms go off…
I can’t imagine the night you had and don’t wish it on a single person!
(well, except that one person…)

Despite missing home and those you love, it’s good to get away now and then and be on your own. Thank you for sharing all your photos and thoughts during your time in Hartford. I hope you had safe travels home and are safely tucked in! Take care.
