Good morning. It’s a rainy Monday. We might have some thunderstorms this afternoon. Lots of rain is due during the coming week – April showers, right? I can already see the grass getting greener, so we’ll gladly put up with the rain.
Don’s cruise control drive was tension making, he was so afraid that he’d have to hit the brake because of another driver which would result in having to do it all again, but luckily, he didn’t. He did exactly what the Honda tech suggested and checked in with me at the halfway point. When he finally walked in the door, I looked up and he said “It worked!” Hurrah! Apparently, it’s called a “drive cycle.” So, if any of you run into this problem, that’s what you do. Don did so much driving over two days – he’s my hero. He needs a break, so I’m running any errands for the foreseeable future.
The egg cups for today: these little fellows from Japan. I’d love to find another one or two if they’re out there.
A dog wearing a suit and hat, a little boy dressed up as a cowboy, another little boy with very rosy cheeks and the sweetest face, and a little boy dressed as a clown, his dog licking his cheek. The two in the center are sitting and the others are standing. All are marked “Japan.”
They make me smile. How can you not smile seeing these sweet faces?
Figural egg cups, which the majority of my egg cups are, are downright charming and whimsical. They’re not necessarily practical, but who wants practical? I fully embrace whimsy – it’s a necessity in my life. We need it. Especially now.
That’s your prescription for however long it takes to get that man out of office. Whimsy. Look for it, create it, recognize it, enjoy it!
Stay safe.
Happy Monday.
I’m glad the drive went well. And those four are so darned cute! They do belong together!
Thanks so much, Jeanie.
Stay safe.
I’m so happy to hear the car drama has been resolved…what needless frustration for you. And…you are right. We need more whimsy in our lives. Your egg cups definitely provide that. I’d like to add humor to that, too. I have a friend who sends me jokes, puns, etc everyday, and I so desperately need to laugh these days. They help a great deal, if only for a short time.
It’s a sunny morning here…after thunderstorms, and a misty gloomy weekend. We were able to spend time with each of our Wisconsin sons and DILs this past weekend…always a great time. Our grass is getting greener, and the cranes are often spotted in the backyard now doing their mating dance. Spring is here.
Enjoy your day! ;)
Don and I laugh a lot, despite everything. We are both ‘funny’ people and know exactly how to make each other laugh.
How lovely to see the cranes in your backyard!
Stay safe, Donnamae.
I love a bit of whimsy! Yes, we definitely need something to smile about… especially with the talk of a third term. We had some rain overnight, which is welcome. Just saw that the snowpack in the mountains is 90% of normal… that’s good. Enjoyed the egg cups!
There will be no third term. I’m willing to bet there won’t be much of a second term.
Thanks so much, Barrie.
Stay safe.
thanks for the egg cups tour … always great to see them!
and thanks for being a bright spot here at mhc and as a person. xo
glad the car recalibration worked and your grass will soon get some rain. hopefully you will see more wildflowers soon, too.
i greatly appreciate whimsy and i know it can apply to many things, but i need to add to your list … for myself now … praying, avoiding all but the weather segment of the news, walking whenever i get the chance (i need to make more of those chances), going to bed at 8:00 pm after watching two episodes of “andy griffith”, and having a double-cup of hot chocolate every night even if it’s officially spring and reached 81 degrees last thursday. and i appreciate the snow we got yesterday (anymore our springs tend to be very short and then it gets to be 90-plus degrees here well before late july or august, sometimes in may or even late april, so i’m not ready for spring here … but will get there).
hope you, don and everyone else are well and safe and have an easy day.
kathy
We walk whenever we can. Hopefully, we’ll get one in tomorrow.
Thanks, Kathy.
Stay safe.
Getting to see your egg cups is, for me, another sign of spring :) . Those little guys have such expressive faces.
Today you’re getting the thunderstorms that we had yesterday. A huge thunderstrike woke me yesterday morning. It was so dark all day we had to have lamps on. But it’s sunny today and my energy level is back up there. Today is the Brewers opening day and on occasion in the past it has snowed. So I won’t complain that it’s only going to be around 40.
So glad for Don that he’s finished driving and you have no more emissions worries. Cars are such a pain sometimes.
Take care,
Kay
Happy Opening Day to the Brewers. The Mets are on the road right now and I’m not sure when their home opening day is.
Stay safe, Kay
Always love some whimsy in our lives. The egg cups are adorable. Poor Don could have driven all the way to San Diego! Glad you have that behind you. We made it home from Sedona without anymore issues. This sounds crazy but I wish we had some thunderstorms here. We have them so rarely. Sometimes I just put rain on the TV so I can listen to it. You Tube has some great videos. Crazy, huh?, ..when it is blue skies outside. We always want what we don’t have. With all the rain you are getting you should have a beautiful spring. Take care!
Oh, I get it. The years I lived in San Diego were mostly rainless. I missed thunderstorms. I can think of about 2, maybe 3 storms during the 8 years I lived there and I would run outside and cheer and stand in the rain.
Stay safe, Deb.
