The devastation in Florida is shocking. We’ve been watching the news – something we don’t do very much lately – and my heavens, it’s horrific. My heart goes out to everyone who is coping with loss in the wake of Hurricane Ian.

I’m going to go into the city tomorrow to watch some of the last rehearsal before tech begins. I’ve been waiting for a run-through, but the director doesn’t work that way. He’s brilliant and he structures rehearsals a bit differently. I’m uneasy at not being able to watch a run-through and take thorough notes – that’s never happened to me before – but it is what it is. I’ll go in and observe and hopefully get enough of a sense where everyone is to give them some constructive feedback. Then I’ll go back in a week and watch a dress/tech of the entire show. I spent a good deal of time yesterday trying to figure out what exactly would be happening today and tomorrow, communicating back and forth with the stage manager and covid safety, and solidifying just how many days I have left on my contract.

So today I’m going to take it easy in preparation for the trip to the city tomorrow. Oh, and wash the bedding, vacuum, etc. I’m nearly halfway through The Ink Black Heart  and I’m riveted. Though the length of the book could be daunting, it’s so readable and fascinating that I don’t really think about it anymore. If anything, it’s Don who comments on my progress.

I’ll take a Simenon with me tomorrow. They’re on the short side and always wonderfully written so I’ll be nicely occupied on the bus.

I won’t post tomorrow because I’m not sure yet what time I’ll leave. I don’t want the pressure of writing a post hanging over me. But I’ll be back on Sunday.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

Have a safe trip. I’m sure it will all go well. And yes, smart to lay low today.

We don’t have TV here so I’ve only seen a little of FL apart from what we streamed but oh, how terrible. Fortunately, Rick’s dad in Punta Gorda didn’t get as much damage as anticipated — nothing that can’t be remedied, no total losses. Whew. Take care.

just now curled up with a blanket (it’s 60 degrees here), enjoying carrots and hummus, looking at something online … and up popped the trailer for “spoiler alert”!! it looks so good, beautiful and jim’s character and acting had me almost frozen, watching, watching, holding my breath and holding back tears. (why, why did i do that? no need to avoid tears!) very excited to see this movie and … bonus … you’re in it!! :)

no offense to ben. his acting is great, too! meant to say that before, but guess i was just focusing more on jim’s character and in some ways relating …

        anyway, very good work, everyone!

and not to wish away time, but i am very much looking forward to december 02 to see “spoiler alert”!

They’re both wonderful in the movie, but as I said earlier, Ben will make you cry.

Just finished that book – The Ink Black Heart – took me 3 solid days but it was so interesting. Had no idea how many pages when I picked it up from the library. Good thing my husband was on a golf trip for 2 of those days!

I hope you are blessed with clear weather and safe travel. We’re supposed to get 1-3” of rain from Ian and 35-45 mph wind gusts. The heaviest rain will be overnight, but we’re not supposed to see the sun again until next Wednesday.

    Have a safe, successful trip.

After all we have been through this year, we thought we needed some time away, so we are up in our favorite place in Sedona, Oak Creek. It is so incredibly green here and the temperatures are perfect. I feel strange enjoying all this knowing how awful those people who got hit by the hurricane are suffering. Just terrifying. We have family in Naples but they are okay. I will post more when we are back n civilization . Stay safe everyone!

Hello again, Claudia. I’m still on my journey and project that I will be current within a month, maybe six weeks. I just wanted to tell you that I can no longer watch a movie, find myself floored by how good the accent is, and not ask myself, “I wonder if Claudia did the coaching?” How’s that for permanent impact? I’ve only coached one movie, Elizabeth. I’ve coached hundreds of theater productions, but only one movie.

      But thank you so much.

      Stay safe!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
