Wildflowers and Migrating Birds

October 4, 2025 at 8:25 am by Claudia

I finished the book yesterday around noon and it was excellent. Don dropped it off at the library and soon it will be on its way to the next person in the queue. I’m reading Clown Town  by Mick Herron next. It’s the newest book in the Slough House series.

Photos from yesterday:

Migrating bluebirds stopping for a drink and a bath:

I’ve been so glued to that book that I’m sure I’ve missed some of the migrating birds. But I’ll have the camera right by the window this weekend. Hopefully, I’ll see more of them.

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday.

hope you do get to see more migrators. and that don was pleased about his gig last night and it leads to more and bigger opportunities for him.

tried yesterday to get back to reading, but just don’t have the focus. at least not now. feeling pressure about lots of unpacking yet to do (so things can be sorted for better packing, sharing or shredding). grateful to be able to do that and over time. and if not reading right now, i’m grateful to be knitting again.

hard weekend … heading over to nebraska for a cousin’s service. hot, sticky weather is neither helping nor appreciated. :l

here’s to better days ahead for everyone. i know they’re coming.

    stay safe in every way.

It has been fun seeing and hearing the migrating birds here, too. I still have my hummingbird feeder up, as lady stragglers keep coming. My regular gang left about two weeks ago…but these ladies are enjoying their sips as they rest up for their continuing journey.

Two days of high 80’s and then, cooler weather steps in…and I can’t wait. Looking forward to airing out the house on Monday, and getting the gardens settled. Not a lot to do, mostly just cutting back a few things. I will continue to water my containers as needed. They are still looking good.

    Enjoy your weekend! ;)

Same here – hot today and tomorrow, then cool for good, I think.

      Stay safe, Donnamae.

The bluebirds are lovely, Claudia. I wish I could feel their calm right now. The world feels so loud- so many things unraveling at once. I admire your ability to hold space for beauty. Your cottage calm is a balm, even if I can’t quite absorb it right now. Thanks for the glimpse of quiet.

    Grateful, even if I’m pacing.
    Maria

Today is a day where I have turned off all news. I have to say, it makes a difference.

      Take care of yourself, Maria.

      Stay safe.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
