Wildflowers, Deer, and Puzzles

May 24, 2024 at 7:46 am by Claudia

Fleabane.

Saw a beautiful deer early this morning just after he chomped on my David phlox. The deer must like that plant because they did the same thing last year as well, Drat! It will come back, eventually. In the meantime, it’s time to spray the garden again.

Our thunderstorms turned out to be relatively mild. We were warned about wind and hail, and that did happen south of us, but not here. For once we were spared the wind! It was all over by 1 pm, just in time for Don to take me to the library to return some books.

Today, we pick up Don’s car from the repair shop. And because we have to use my car to get there, I will be driving the car for the first time since I injured my hand. I’m a little nervous about it, but I’ve plotted my route home and it should be very easy. Don has a gig tonight and tomorrow so he has a busy weekend ahead.

Finished puzzle: another beautiful piece by Alphonse Mucha, “Goddess of Time.” I just love his work. It’s a pleasure to work on a puzzle when it involves this level of beauty. I have another one waiting but I have to take this one apart first.

It’s a beautiful morning out there! Still unseasonably warm, but the sun is shining and Don gets his car back. Fingers crossed it doesn’t need any more repair work for a long time.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

Lovely jigsaw puzzle, Claudia. Take care driving home from the library. Is it very far? Glad Don has a busy weekend planned. Have a good one. Hugs, Elaine

If it was from the library it would be easy. No, it’s from the mechanics and it’s about 10 miles away.

      Stay safe, Elaine.

That is quite a detailed puzzle… very pretty. That’s good that the storms near you were mild. Incredible to hear how the weather is changing so quickly…yes, climate change. We’re expecting a cooler weekend. Good luck to Don for his gigs…and good luck to you driving home from picking up Don’s car. Take care.

glad you didn’t have to deal with much wind.

also glad that don’s car repair is done. trusting the drive home goes/went well and hoping the bill was smaller than expected and that there’s something to help your hand feel and get better.

congratulations to don having two gigs this weekend! does anyone post bits of performances (if allowed) to help spread the word about don’s talents and availability?

    beautiful art on that puzzle.

had a little bit of rain early this morning. morning chores done. spent some time just watching earl and burl and lots of birds on the deck. will get groceries soon, then go do some things at my apartment. i am in the middle of “farmer boy”, the second of nine books in the set by laura ingalls wilder, so it will be quite a while before i read the book i recently ordered, but am excited about them all. this new book has arrived and is likely in front of my apartment door (locked building, nice neighbors so it will be fine) so will pick it up, too (and water the five pothos/philadendruns that i still have). i like seeing stacks of books.

hope you, don and everyone else have a wonderful day! stay safe.

dear Claudia/Don — sorry deer like your flowers — very annoying but is always some creature/bug favorite, ha! last eve we had bad storms right before dark, lots of lightning/thunder w/some rain but less wind — today is mostly sunny. wx says Sun could be a “bad” day for the area — hoping they are wrong. am sure Don will be glad to have his car back — seems like it has been gone a long time. hope y’all have a good wkend — stay safe/healthy

We had to wait until we had the money for the repair, Linda. So, yes, it’s been a long time.

      Stay safe.

That puzzle is quite detailed…but lovely. I’m glad you didn’t get any severe weather this time around. Those white wildflowers are so pretty. Were the deer eating those?

My son and his wife came in yesterday from Edinburgh for a visit. We will have a family gathering tomorrow…they’ll be here for 12 days. And, the whole family will be together…that doesn’t happen often enough anymore. So I plan on enjoying every minute. We haven’t been together for 11 months, and we FaceTime all the time, but it isn’t the same. Didn’t realize how hard it was going to be having a son live across the Pond.

Happy to hear Don has two gigs. Hope they go well for him. And hope you have a great weekend! ;)

Sorry! I was unclear. The wildflowers are fleabane. The David Phlox is planted in the big garden bed. The deer chomped the buds off every one of them!

Have a fabulous time with your family, Donnamae!

      Stay safe.

That’s a fabulous puzzle. I wonder if it might not be harder than it looks. But it’s a stunner and you seem to have done it very quickly — but then you are the puzzle master! I’m glad Don has another gig tonight and also that your hand is moving along. I’m sure the driving will be fine. We had a heck of a thunderstorm that hit about five or six and woke us up. This afternoon, cemetery flower planting at the family gravesite. It’ll probably be a haven for mosquitoes!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
