Pictures today.
Scout’s under the weather, I’m tired (just 3 more days of antibiotics,) it’s cloudy and sort of rainy outside. Not rainy enough, however – we really need a couple of days of non-stop rain.
I’m going to retreat and read today. I need to lose myself in the pages of a book.
A Great Spangled Frittilary. She was moving rather quickly, so this is the only shot I have.
Hummingbird Moth in action. Those wings move awfully fast.
Ah. The dreaded beetle. On my butterfly bush.
The fact is that Scout is hanging in there, but declining, and it’s hard for me to watch and I get very worried. I don’t talk about it very much because she is so deeply embedded in my heart that I simply can’t. I can’t go there. I have to take her with me to Hartford in September and that also worries me.
Send some healing prayers our way, okay?
(New post up on Just Let Me Finish This Page.)
Happy Friday.
Consider it done. Dear God, Claudia has had a lot to cope with this year. Please let her keep her treasured Scoutie for a while longer, and please ease that little girl’s steps along the way. Amen and thank you.
Thank you with all my heart, Janet.
Sending get well wishes and prayers your way to both you, Claudia and to sweet Scout!
Hugs
Thank you, Nancy.
Prayers for you and Scout! You’ll both feel better soon.
Thank you, Tana.
Thinking of you and Scout. Sending love and hugs and wishes for healing. xo
Thank you, Sally.
Sending positive thoughts your way. I, too, am having a sad day. I plan to lose myself in books for the day. Some days it’s the only thing you canto do.
Thank you, Kathy. Feel better.
I often have Miss Scout in my thoughts. I’m glad you said something. Will be praying for you all today.
Sending hugs.
Thank you, Patricia.
Thoughts and prayers for your family Claudia. Hope you can lose yourself inside the pages of a good book and just relax your mind and body today.
Thank you, Janie.
Claudia, know just how you feel about “book-reading” day, I’m going to have one myself today, also. All your dog-owners/lovers can feel what you’re going through with Scout, we share the love with you. The old saying “been there, done that” holds true but never gets easier………but Thank God for our dogs!
Thank you, Nancy.
Will definitely keep both you and Miss Scout in my prayers. I hope you both feel better and stronger as the weekend progresses. Perhaps if you take some time to read and rest, Scout will stay near by and get some good rest, too. The healing powers of a good rest can’t be ignored…
Happy reading!!!
She’s sleeping right now, Chris. Thank you.
Thinking of you and dear Scout, Claudia. {gentle hug}
Thank you, Dori.
Sending positive thoughts always. I really liked Janet in Rochester’s prayer…I borrowed it. A good book reading day sounds like such a great day…it’s stifling around here, so I may do the same! Stay well! ;)
Thank you, Donnamae.
Praying for good health for both you & Scout. Hoping you feel renewed after a nice, relaxing day with a good book.
Thank you, Debbie.
Great captures…tiger swallowtail visiting this AM here…I am retreating to read as well…sending healing thoughts and prayers for Scout!
Thank you, Donna.
Poor you, poor Scout.
Thank you, Regula.
Sending you and Scout hugs and prayers for healing. I know the worry. I watch my Charlie and see changes as he is coming on his 16th birthday. It does not get easier does it. Losing myself in a book is always healing for me also. Wishing you a peaceful day.
Linda
Thank you, Linda.
Positive thoughts and prayers are winging your way. Bless dear Scouts paws.
Thank you, Annie.
Warmest hugs and prayers for you and your sweet Scout. I get a lump in my throat just thinking about how much we love our 4 legged family members.
Me too, Carolyn. Thank you.
I am so very sorry to hear Miss Scout is having some added difficulties. Our aging resident senior citizen canine buddy took a trip to the vet this morning for some anxiety issues. Thank goodness our vet is so very kind and compassionate and offered some advice to assist with these new issues. I hope and pray Scout’s difficulties lessen and her “inner” puppy continues to shine brightly, even if only to be seen in her beautiful eyes :-) Take care of one another and healing healthy vibes being sent to you both~~ Perhaps an indulgent treat is in order for you both…could the antibiotic be wearing you down a tad?
Yes, I think the antibiotic makes me very tired. Thank you, Jeannine.
What lovely comments people have made today. I think old dogs are another of God’s gifts to us. They show so much love and they show us how much love we can give and feel. Enjoy your book and give Scout a hug from me.
Eileen
They are indeed a gift, Eileen. Thank you so much.
Sending prayers and well wishes for sweet Scout, Claudia. Enjoy a restful day with your girl. xo Laura
Thank you, Laura.
Beautiful pictures!
I am so sorry to hear that Scoutie is declining. Been through it so many times. It is never easy. I hope that when her time comes she goes peacefully and that you KNOW that you have done all that you could for her. You and Don are wonderful parents and friends to her. I know that you will make the time she has left with you full of love.
She is all love, Teresa. Thank you.
Claudia, my heart goes out to you with your beautiful girl. Prayers are being offered up on yours, Don’s, and Scout’s behalf. So sorry I haven’t been around to comment in a while. I have tried to keep up with your blog. Mine hasn’t been updated in over a month. Too much to do, too little time to do it in. I hope you are feeling better in no time. Enjoy your escape into a good book today :)
Hugs,
Donna
Thank you, Donna.
Lots of prayers & thoughts coming your way. Feel better, both of you!
Thank you, Melanie.
My prayers go out to you and Scout. There is no harder time. I have approached them with dread in the past. I guess it’s just something we have to accept. Be happy for all the good times. Nice bug catches. I haven’t seen any around here really accept the noseemus and they don’t make very good pictures. Have a good weekend.
Thank you, Missy.
I found your lovely blog a month or so ago, Claudia, and I wanted you to know how much I enjoy reading it everyday.
Our sweet Sophie girl is almost 14 years old and I know how hard it is to watch them decline. Your sweet Scout will be in my prayers.
Thank you, Sherry.
Dear Claudia,
Healing thoughts coming your way to you and Scout. I swear I feel her fur. Is it the breeze coming in my window? The gray and white sky?
Thank you, Sylvia.
Thoughts and prayers are with you and sweet Scoutie. God is holding all of you in His hands. May you all feel better.
Thank you, Dottie.

My prayers are with you and Miss Scout. I have been there too many times and it just rips into your heart and soul. I truly do understand what you are going thru. She has had such a good life with so much love and hopefully will continue to do so for some time still. I will pray for the best for her.
Thank you, Dorothy.
I’ll be a prayer warrior for Scout. Can’t help but love that girl. Ya’ll just can’t lose her now; it’s too soon after Riley’s passing. I still grieve for him. You have the dearest dogs!
Hope you succeeded in losing yourself in a good book.
