I have a lot on my mind today; starting rehearsals tomorrow, finances, worries. Both Don and I woke up too early this morning, so we’re feeling a bit ragged. I’m going to spend the day getting ready for tomorrow, figuring out bus schedules, and the best way to get from Port Authority in NYC to the rehearsal studio. Don is going to figure out food for me, as I’ll be gone for both lunch and dinner. I want to return some library books, as well, so I’m not worried about due dates during the course of this week of rehearsals.
Once I get there and start working, I’ll feel less stressed. A rehearsal studio is like a second home to me and the rhythm of working with Darko is quite comforting and familiar.
By the way, this is a message for those of you who sometimes send me things via our post office box. The cost of the box is getting out of hand. Right now, we’re at $78/6 months and, as has been the case since DeJoy took over, it’s going to increase again this month. It’s not worth it for the amount of mail we get there. So I’m going to let it expire at the end of this month. If you want to send me something, send me a private email and I’ll give you our address. I’ll remind you of this again at the end of the month. Adding to that, the site on which I post my professional website is now going to involve a monthly fee. It was free before. I’m tempted to chuck it, but Don thinks I should keep it going a bit longer. Sigh.
I’m already in work mode. I don’t see how I will have time to post again until Sunday and Monday, which are my days off. There’s just no time. I know you understand. You’re welcome to check back in case I come home early one day (somehow I don’t think that will happen, but you never know!)
Stay safe.
Happy Tuesday.

Don’t worry about posting. Just worry about getting back and forth safely!
I hate those too-early morning risings. It seems like a good idea — why stay in bed, especially when there is much to do. But then comes the crash. Hope you make it through and get all done. Good luck!

I’m crashing at this moment!
Stay safe, Jeanie.

one by one, you will get those things figured out and done … don helping, too, with meal prep … and hopefully soon feel better about it all. also, hopefully you both get more sleep and no big rains this week.
i very much relate about budgets and hard choices. there’s a lot more i could say about that, but will instead say again i know you will make it work out.
hope you enjoy one of those oranges while taking a break, reading a chapter of “war and peace”, and have a good day.
safe travels, good work and yummy meals to you in the week ahead!
stay safe.

Good luck and prayers. I remember when we first started going to NYC for the marathons. My son ran. We stayed in NJ at nice hotels surrounded by places to eat. We caught the bus at the hotel each am to Port Authority. On Sunday he went early to prepare. I went alone if my daughter had not joined us. I held my phone in my hand and was aware as I got to Port authority and Central park. My students used to laugh at my stories and kissed me that the phone would protect me. Lol. There was a little bakery near where I stood watching the race. I ate and used rest room there. I miss those days but he went on to do ten Ironman coMpetitions across the nation. We stayed
At beautiful places. I did not go to the one in South America. Now he is married with two boys. He and wife and boys
Run. Boys are winning. I love NYC. My daughter and I and grands stayed Times
square during winter months. Loved it. My favorite city ever. I have been to 46 states. No place like NYC. I am so so happy for you and your project. The world needs more of the both of you. Prayers as you go your way. We will look forward to hearing from you when you get a break. So proud to know you. I will be in NYC this year or next.

DeJouy has been anything but. Postal services and libraries are the backbone of a democratic nation, but… Wishing you a successful and joyful run in New York City. It sounds like you’re too overloaded to take a Blythe friend with you. Over the years I have learned that I like taking one of my dollies with me when I travel. She usually stays in the same outfit and never complains. Have safe travels
Claudia says
No, it’s rather impossible to do that. I’ll be speed walking from the station to the venue. Then, at the end of the day, I’ll be speedwalking back. That’s it. No sight-seeing, just work.
Thanks, Nora.
Stay safe.

Stress doesn’t help anything, usually, so in those situations I always need to keep things super simple…just do what absolutely needs to be done, the rest can wait! Good luck with all you need to do! Take care!

Thanks, Barrie.

You should definitely take some time off from posting because you just have enough on your mind with the logistics for the job, etc.
I loved pulling your blog up this afternoon to see that bright beautiful orange. I’m very tired of dark, dreary, gray, wild-rain, wild-windy weather. I can’t get motivated. I’m totally a victim of SAD and have to try to get every light in the house turned ‘way up or else I’m just too melancholy and looking for a blanket so I can just go to sleep and hope the sun will come out soon.
Wild is the only way I could describe our Southern Calif weather yesterday. The wind was intense and, so the experts said, just 4 points off being hurricane force in strength. It went on for hours and hours. I’ve got an old house with a roof that needs replacing so we did a lot of checking with flashlights to check for leaks inside closets, ceilings, etc. Tense. We’ve now gotten over half of what we need in a year rain-wise, and to break the drought, but it’s only Jan 10; we’ve still gotta get thru Feb, March, which in a good year can be quite rainy for us; it’s said that yesterday was the worst storm we’ve had since 2005. All I talk about is dry-hot-barren-parched; now, this. There’s a lot of flooding; not where we are, but on other sides of our small town. Swift-water rescues of the homeless people who camp along the creek/river banks. Lost a huge tree one street over, and there was a lot of heavy equipment last night keeping drains clear on the boulevard to which we’re adjacent. I felt sorry for the drivers, like FedEx, UPS, USPS.
BTW, yeah, my one p.o. box went up to $160 for the year, and I have TWO of them, so some kind of change will have to be in order before I think of renewing the second one. They’re the smallest boxes available and it’s where we get ALL of our mail since we don’t feel our physical address is secure for mail, depending upon various factors and things which have occurred. So, we’re really caught between a rock and a hard place although I understand a person can get a private p.o. box. I know they have them at the UPS store and also at a printer’s shop in my town. Would just be so much simpler if I could get mail at my house like ‘normal’ people. Sigh.
Well, Claudia; wishing you all the best for your days ahead. Just don’t want you to get too weary. And wet. Take care! (I know you will.)

We have longtime friends in Ventura and they have been sharing how the weather is there. Astonishing. Stay safe, Vicki!
